Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II Review: A Sizable Upgrade?

  • Perhaps the most versatile of the trinity, the 24-70mm. The Sony 24-70mm has long been heralded as the one lens to definitely get if you were to own a Sony full-frame camera, especially more so with that GM moniker and that sweet F2.8 aperture. Really sharp, really versatile range, just pure image quality bliss.
    But it's been quite some time and finally, we have the the successor to that very lens. So we took a look at the Mark II and we compared it to the tried and tested champ of yore. Is this worth the upgrade?

    Nice review. Optically, I don't see much reason to choose one over the other...not in any practical kind of way. It's not like clients will be looking for chromatic aberration around bokeh balls. The size and weight though. Thats a valid reason to choose the new model. I would imagine it focuses faster as well.

      Yeah definitely, size and weight can be big factor , especially if mounting on a gimbal .

    New is always better.
