This lens is a 'tank-like' lens in the Sony lineup. I've used this for many weddings, events, theatre and festival shoots. It can really take a pounding and still produce really nice results.
I just bought one "used" for $1,000. The guy used it for a 2-day shoot then auctioned it in eBay. The lens was in perfect condition, like new. This was definitely a steal for me and I believe it was worth getting this instead of the mark II for $2000.
Hiii great video, if i could buy the sigma 24-70mm in 860 and this one in 890, can you recommend me this one or maybe the sigma is better? and also the sigma m2 is in 1100 so, what do you recommend?
Great informative video! I have been considering this lens heavily.. I know its old but still seems very good and I can find a used one for around the same price as a sigma. What would you pick if you could find these 2 at similar price points?
Totally in disbelief I took advantage of a very short Amazon offer which went from €1700 to €600 new and obviously I bought it instantly. I hope it's as good as everyone says
@@yessum6477 I ended up paying $900 for a used one last week. the thing is HEAVY, be prepared. maybe worth come up with the money to buy the Gen II just for reduced weight.
Is this lens a consideration for you?
Stephan would this be a good lens for shooting low light sporting events such as softball or football?
@@mikewhitehurst6508 I'd check out something like a 70-200 for sports.

That’s the wisdom about this business, getting good use gear

If you don't mind the size and weight and its a great deal, it could be a great pickup!
I tried both mark I and mark II at B&H. I would say the zoom ring feels better on mark I, better for video zoom in and out action.
You think there will be a mark II of this sigma lens? Sony did 6yrs later after
Where I live the price difference between the GM and the GM2 in too small to buy the old.
That's great news for you!

If you bought from amazon seller “metal idea” it’s likely a scam, there’s some articles online about it!
Stefan do you shoot photography would love to see you best work
Nice bro.. good clicks
what if can get it for $800 used, is it worth it?
I’m looking to buy one for about 900
