The price difference between a US X7 and Chinese X7 is staggering...I've been in China for quite some years and obviously knew of how the Chinese auto consumers are getting screwed on pricing (sometimes even on locally manufactured foreign cars), but this is astonishing nonetheless if the price indicated in the video is true...
Teslas do sell for less than they do in the States (while the same MIC models go for much more in Europe than they do in China) though. I think it's because when it comes to EVs, the Chinese do have a competitive edge which hadn't been the case with ICE vehicles. So the most curious would be how should the Germans price their EVs in the Chinese market today? The (MIC by BAIC the local partner, thus no import tax) EQE for example is facing what Mercedes had never experienced in China before - legitimate competitors like the NIO ET7.
X7 is relatively cheap in the US because it is built in the US. Importing it into China is what causes it to nearly double in price. Same reason very few Chinese made cars are imported into the US. It is no longer because of quality/safety issues, but taxes. The X5L is built in China, so it is a good deal cheaper, but still starts at around 90k USD though. So either way, BMW is gonna be in trouble in the coming years when Li is selling a fully loaded 3 row plug in extended range EV that can hit 60 in 5 seconds for 30% less than a entry trim 2 row X5 with a 4 banger under the hood. That BMW badge is worth quite a bit in China still (e.g. the I'd rather cry in the front seat of a BMW reality show contestant), but I guess some of the younger professionals don't care as much, and the L9 is just soooo much cheaper.
I am chinese and I just got my X7 arrived which I bought it about half a year ago. To be exact, it caused me 1.41m RMB (190K USD). it's very obvious, the import tax is pretty unbelivable in China.(from 50%+, higher the price higher the tax) Telsa have a full on factory in Shanghai so the price is roughly the same as the US price, because they are all locally produced and don't need to pay additional import taxes. Same as BMW/mercades/Audi, they all got few partilly seires/model produced in their Chinese factory.(normally low end one) are quiet cheap as well
Only issue I have with Chinese cars right now is that they're not being sold in Europe as much as I'd love them to. This L9 is a dream come true for me and I'd pick it over the X7 any day of the week. For now, I'll just wait out the Hong Qi eHS9 to show up in Sweden and get that unless this or the Xpeng G9 shows up.
lol, it will not reach EU markets at all, as West is blocking such access as it knows it cant compete with china..China already won, period. now question is how long before EU collapses and US and THEN, only then will such cars enter our markets and obviously ppl will buy them as they posses a much better value for money than overpriced crap we are getting served from the likes of bmw to renaults etc..
Man!! I'm Jealous. There is no way that in United States will ever see this vehicle. I'm all in. Man it's a daggone shame that the US can't make a car like this.

Bizarre enough that Li Auto hasn't been doing well in the past months due to product mismanagement and _stiff competition_ - from the Huawei-powered AITO. The AITO M7, despite being a bit generic looking, is formidable enough that Li Auto is actually losing market share in the large 6-seat SUV segment to them. So the BMW (among the Germans) has not only one, but two (and counting) local competitors in the Chinese market.
AITO M7 size much small then li L9 and BMW X7. there are different level ,third row of AITO M7 is gruelling . if AITO want compare with L9, X7 and GLS in full size SUV area ,launch M9 if AITO had plan on it .
other inferior of AITO is they can never sell to oversea market ,cos huawei under USA strict sanction. they got no chance out of china. that's why most of chinese automaker who sell they car out of china don't use huawei car OS,although it's nice one.
@@xiaoyang9758 Of course AITO can sell overseas, Huawei is still launching the Mate 50 series overseas and if AITO does well in China it will launch overseas since it's all Chinese tech and Chinese parts, there's nothing the US can do about it. The US can't ban Huawei's own OS worldwide lmao.

Very clear to see the difference in old and new design. The L9 would look even better if they can somehow design the roof to not include the cameras that stick out
I like the exterior Li auto L9 design as the Xpang latest SUV i think the smooth styling is Nice the thing is the driving dinâmics that needed to BE upgraded
Li Auto L9 is more comfortable and full of technology but the BMW X7 has a better driving experience? What better experience is it if it's less comfortable and less tech???
Driving experience refers to how it actually drives, not how many features it has. The BMW is simply more satisfying to drive a bit aggressively, because the steering and suspension are tighter and more tactile. The L9 is comfortable, but doesn’t want to be pushed, at all.
@@Wheelsboy , If I want to have a driving experience, I can go with X6, the X7 is too big for that purpose. For this kind of big car, best for family driving and comfort. High tech is a bonus, so L9 is the one for me.
From the perspective of the current sales scale, Chinese electric car brands are only in the initial stage. In the face of many car companies, European markets with higher quality requirements are not easy to accept and willing to pay for local consumers. This is a new force in China that needs to face and solve problems.
I think --you should wait 3~4 years 。 when Byd's success may be needed to embolden Chinese carmakers。 but now the global economy…………hard to say. (ฅ•﹏•ฅ)

Really, the X7 feels like a fattened up sedan, which of course being a BMW still has its design centered around sporty sedans. The L9 looks to be utilitarian enough but has enough taste that makes it easy on the eyes compared to the Beamer. Would absolutely sell like hot cakes for upper middle class families in America.
If I wanted the L9 shipped to another country, can the voice commands and infotainment display be switched to English without. And can they make an exception for me to use a sim car of any service provider?
thing is BMW is a legacy brand with almost 100 years of history , BYD is less than 10 years old and have already reached this high level of development...imagine the next 5, or 10 years?
Chinese auto manufacturers has certainly come a long way. Being an ex-MB GL500 owner, I was contemplating between the Li One last year but ended up with the Nio ES8 for the battery swapping feature and interior build. I love these new EV and its chock full of gadgets and bang for your bucks. Really puts the Germans cars to shame.
As someone who drives a bmw sports car, I’m just glad that Li admits their car is not designed for driving but for family comfort. I just hate some car manufacturers make their SUV so big and still pretends to be some sort of performance car 😂😂😂

Hello, I'm from Germany. Well, the industry here is generally on the decline. No matter whether the heat pump, photovoltaics, automotive industry, etc. Many are home-made problems. I think the German and European industry is facing difficult times. Unfortunately, our government doesn't recognize any of this and is even dismantling agriculture at the same time. Germany would be well suited for growing vegetables because the country has a lot of water.
No. Stick with x7. It’s a time honored brand who has experience building luxury. BMW is the better hands down. Plus the battery fails a lot among other things. My friends have one and though it looks nice it’s a handbag of issues.
Wanting 'driving dynamics' from a big suv tells me that you have been completely brainwashed by marketers to desire something what big suv's don't inherently provide.
You need to have the balls to drive the L9 like someone has done with Nio ES8 on a track. Change the suspension to have 2 types of reaction, comfort and sport and maybe I could compare the reaction of the L9 with the X7 from another view - Action vs Reaction. It's not just the brand that counts, it's the driver too.
The BMW dashboard does feel really old, but the materials are better, seat are better, steering wheel looks way better and sporty, exterior looks better, better handling and more comfortable, 2 big screens and a little more technology cant save the Li auto L9, not even close.
It is easy to feature up a car which is what the Chinese did here. But to build a pleasurable car is something else. Also, this should have been compared to the BMW iX or iX M60 even. On another note, Chinese EV range at 160 kmh highway is miniscule.
I agree that it not just compares but ups the ante in comparison to NGP. It makes Xpengs NGP seem like grand ma driving. I love the Li9 NOA Experience and give it an 8 while i give Xpeng Highway NGP a 5.

To be exact, it caused me 1.41m RMB (190K USD).
it's very obvious, the import tax is pretty unbelivable in China.(from 50%+, higher the price higher the tax)
Telsa have a full on factory in Shanghai so the price is roughly the same as the US price, because they are all locally produced and don't need to pay additional import taxes.
Same as BMW/mercades/Audi, they all got few partilly seires/model produced in their Chinese factory.(normally low end one)
are quiet cheap as well
Only issue I have with Chinese cars right now is that they're not being sold in Europe as much as I'd love them to. This L9 is a dream come true for me and I'd pick it over the X7 any day of the week. For now, I'll just wait out the Hong Qi eHS9 to show up in Sweden and get that unless this or the Xpeng G9 shows up.
The collective west is pro open market except when another country catches up to them.
Nio and Xpeng and BYD are coming
can't wait this to enter the EU market, everyone will be dead surprised i bet
lol, it will not reach EU markets at all, as West is blocking such access as it knows it cant compete with china..China already won, period. now question is how long before EU collapses and US and THEN, only then will such cars enter our markets and obviously ppl will buy them as they posses a much better value for money than overpriced crap we are getting served from the likes of bmw to renaults etc..
Man!! I'm Jealous. There is no way that in United States will ever see this vehicle. I'm all in. Man it's a daggone shame that the US can't make a car like this.
@@adriancooper78 maybe it will enter Mexican market in the future and you can buy there second hand I guess

Рынок ЕС не допустит появления конкурента на вашем рынке, так же как и рынок США. И Китай пока невосполнит собственный рынок не будет выходить за его пределы.
@@jzvr5842 sure so let AITO sell they car to oversea market with price over 50k USD , with this price and tariff other country except USA and EU , no one will pay that price with a chinese car. by the way huawei mate 50 is complete jork ,without 5G chip they sell s**t
@@jzvr5842
I actually have a Huawei laptop and am so glad I bought it
they can succeed at anything
Your reviews and jokes are getting better and better :)
Agree
Very clear to see the difference in old and new design. The L9 would look even better if they can somehow design the roof to not include the cameras that stick out
that's lidar
you can choose the no
Lidar version wihich is 10% cheaper
L9 is way ahead awsome car!! 👍👍
great job, next time get a noise measurement device to measure cabin noise
I like the exterior Li auto L9 design as the Xpang latest SUV i think the smooth styling is Nice the thing is the driving dinâmics that needed to BE upgraded
Li Auto is so Zen in design. Bravo.
WOW, like this is amazing!!! Wonder if it going to ever make it to the US. All this amazing Chinese cars and no way to get them in the US.
From the perspective of the current sales scale, Chinese electric car brands are only in the initial stage. In the face of many car companies, European markets with higher quality requirements are not easy to accept and willing to pay for local consumers. This is a new force in China that needs to face and solve problems.
I think --you should wait 3~4 years 。 when Byd's success may be needed to embolden Chinese carmakers。
but now the global economy…………hard to say.
(ฅ•﹏•ฅ)
you crawling through the L9 reminds me of that scene in It's Always Sunny when frank covers himself in vaseline in emerges from inside that leather couch
😂😂😂
Really, the X7 feels like a fattened up sedan, which of course being a BMW still has its design centered around sporty sedans. The L9 looks to be utilitarian enough but has enough taste that makes it easy on the eyes compared to the Beamer. Would absolutely sell like hot cakes for upper middle class families in America.
L9更适合家庭
I absolutely love the Li
If I wanted the L9 shipped to another country, can the voice commands and infotainment display be switched to English without. And can they make an exception for me to use a sim car of any service provider?
Yes 💩
OMG…that green! anyway…I vote L9 😊 or any NIO
Big smile on your face when you are inside Lil9..nice review dude👍BMW need x8 to beat the Li l9
This is the only youtube channel which open an eye onto those new Chinese EV. 👍
NATO:Resist! Chinese cars will pose a threat to national security!
Li auto is a beautiful car
great review, will take an expert eye to spot the different between Li Auto v XPeng G9
thing is BMW is a legacy brand with almost 100 years of history , BYD is less than 10 years old and have already reached this high level of development...imagine the next 5, or 10 years?
This is not BYD,it's Li auto😅
this is another company
I wish L9 had an English interface and they sold it in the US.
You have really amazing videos and presentation style. Keep it up! 👍
German car is already chinese quality. Some chinese Brand are german quality.
Good video, but why you did not make underwater and offroad test for BMW model?)
Maybe BMW can't do it all?
That noise when you've bottomed out at 16:42 hurt my ears
As someone who drives a bmw sports car, I’m just glad that Li admits their car is not designed for driving but for family comfort. I just hate some car manufacturers make their SUV so big and still pretends to be some sort of performance car 😂😂😂
I'm a Range Rover owner, but have to say, Li's car is easier to use in the city than the Range Rover
Ha .... You realise that you can't climb in the first row from the boot with your fanny pack.
Maybe I missed it. Tow rating on L9? Great review.
that was an excellent video, fun to watch and very informative, i didn't felt like it took 18 minutes, i enjoyed it very much. thank you for this review
Another awesome review buddy !
great content. is there a reliable company where we can order L9 from China?
Keep up the good work .
If u work out autopilot that works in India.... Then world have to worry about AI....
The Chinese one wins by virtue of being electric. However, BMW will probably come with an electric variant very soon...
No. Stick with x7. It’s a time honored brand who has experience building luxury. BMW is the better hands down. Plus the battery fails a lot among other things. My friends have one and though it looks nice it’s a handbag of issues.
Wow! Hope Li comes to Malaysia soon.
Wanting 'driving dynamics' from a big suv tells me that you have been completely brainwashed by marketers to desire something what big suv's don't inherently provide.
If America open the door,NIO、BYD、XPENG、Li、Zeeker、Arcfox、HiPhi、HUAWEI AITO、HONGQI、Polestar,Those monsters will ruthlessly eat up more than 70% market
Eventually tech will overcome mechanics, I had an AMG for 3 years and in the end I drive it like a grocery car. L9 is like a private jet.
Oh and in China L9 is like 500k RMB and X7 is like 1mil…so X7=2L9 almost😂
Wheelsboy is a type of guy to bring two 3 row luxury SUVs to a racetrack😂
Wonderful!😍Li L9 of course.
The Chinese car auto makers need to go on a full blown worldwide marketing...
I would better go for li l9...
Its far ahead than BMW one
I’ve got an x7 50d ultimate. But now I’m waiting for China to send the suv to uk so I can buy on of these.
Finally China makes good shapes and beautiful, powerful, sustainable cars .... I heard they are making good Hybrid Cars
Bro reviews cars the way I do in my head.
Very good video for one more time!!! Well done 👍
The BMW dashboard does feel really old, but the materials are better, seat are better, steering wheel looks way better and sporty, exterior looks better, better handling and more comfortable, 2 big screens and a little more technology cant save the Li auto L9, not even close.
China so far ahead of USA and Europe on tech development. They have more engineers graduating annually than the rest of the world combined.
Go china!
If I may request, please review the 2022/2023 Changan CS75 Plus. Thank you.
I love the Li9 NOA Experience and give it an 8 while i give Xpeng Highway NGP a 5.
i m Chinese,my family got an L8 from Lixiang,it is AMAZING!!!!!!!
Hey Ethan, just wondering if the L9 is available in right-hand drive too?
In your opinion is the L9 more comfortable than denza
