You are a very good car reviewer. Informative but not boring. If wheels boy had shares I would definitely invest as I can see your growth becoming stronger as the sort of products you review start making it overseas. Great job to the wheelsboy team
Saw an L9 in Shanghai the other day next to a Range Rover and looked amazing but huge! Surprised they offered the L8 in a 3 row and agree with you that would like to have seen a few more design changes. But…. I prefer the look to the G9, tough times for Xpeng. Keep up the good work, hoping you can do a Model 3 vs Nio et5 vs BYD Seal comparison, that would be a a world first!
I don't think you can buy such a car in the UK, because the UK government would use "threat to national security" to deny Chinese cars access to the UK market.
Wow, $50K for a range extender premium crossover? In my country, that kind of money barely enough for a diesel 4wd ladder frame suv from Mitsubishi, you can't even afford Hyundai Santa Fe diesel fwd with $50K.
Nice review. I watched almost all of your videos. The car looks great and that price will be interesting in all markets. But it’s unlikely that we’ll see this car under 70/80k in Europe. Nice car tho. Just like the L9. Ps. I’m still waiting the Zeekr 001 review 😉
Love this channel, I get to see really cool cars that I like to imagine buying from the Chinese market and bringing it to America so everyone can ask me "wow what kind of car is this".
Good presentation of the L8. A lot of car for the money. The Xpeng G9 looks sportier in my opinion. Difficult to choose from these two because they are both beautiful cars.
Essentially identical length and height. L9 has overall length of 5.22 m, and wheelbase of 3.1 m, while L8 has overall length of 5.08 m, and wheelbase of 3.0 m. So almost identical. I also think these different models look TOO alike. They might as well be different trims of the save model at this point.
i hope it comes with PHEV version made with range extender generator, like INNengine amazing tech. does the L8 have places for screws on roof to install roof racks & basket?
it should be modular. like upgrading a l3 into an l8. buying tech like bigger screens ,more batteries, leather seat covers, driver assistance and led’s
You should do a video summary of Chinese auto market including technology, sells and new brand/models of this quarter. It is a very interesting quarter considering the number of models lunched is probably biggest we have seen yet.
You are not far off. The intellegent viechles are pretty much a mobile computer comes with 4 wheels. The legacy brands are usually the case of you bought the car, and the onboard computer comes with it. For these intellegent cars, it will be the case of you bought the onboard computer and it happens the car comes with it.
I own an L9 and so far I'm very happy with it. The kids just can't take their eyes off the screen in the 2nd row so I have to disable it for them. One car for test drives had a burst in its air suspension, which caused a huge backlash since it's one of the main selling points, so Li Auto announced that they'll extend the warranty on the air suspension system from 5 to 8 years.
Li auto L7,L8,L9 use theyself os(It should be Android-based),The brand is not officially supported, the brand os is not officially supported english menu.
@@deanst0707 China does the same thing (if you want to import a car)... difference is that most EV's in the west are also built in China so they can't slap tarrifs since they are not imported. Teska, VW iD, BMW iX, Mercedes EQ series, just to name a few companis that make EV's in China.
Mercedes Benz has been doing the same look between the C,E and S class for almost a decade now. No one seems to have an issue with them so why shouldn't the Chinese?
it is way too similar..... in terms of its exterior design..... the Germans (BMW & Mercedes) are doing this too, unfortunately. Hopefully, it will change in the future.
Well for EVs that's certainly true. The Japanese really dropped the ball on transitioning to EVs. The Chinese are going to do to them what they did to the US automakers during the gas crisis in the 1970s. The difference here is that the US was then able to force the Plaza Accords on Japan in the 1980s to slow down the advance of Japanese automakers, but trade wars against China aren't gonna be so easy.
Lixiang brand is all engineering no design. The audio speaker is just a plain circle with no details, same goes with everything else about their interior. Its not a bad thing, but when they make car models to be like iphones you can really tell the utilitarian approach which i think is too much. From minimum design, to scalable design. It lacks imagination, passion, romance - marketable traits. This is not how you set up a brand to tackle mid to high end market.
You buy the model Y for the brand cachet, and maybe the quicker acceleration. Meanwhile the more practical Chinese consumers would doubtless choose the L8, since for the same price you get a larger car with WAY more luxury features.
They aren't really in the same market. Y is a compact SUV. This is on the X size of things and it can run on gas (Chinese usually live in apartment buildings so don't have charging station at home).
Why such irrational hate on XPeng? Almost all reviewers in China are fans of the big 3. All three are surpassing Germans and Tesla with their new models this year. There are market share of 1M vehicles for the 3 to take and divide up. More than the three can produce next year. Chill man.
@@enigmatum I'm not sure he is hating on XPeng. The G9 really is significantly smaller than the L8, which is why Li rushed to announce the L8 to try to made a dent in G9 preorders, forcing XPeng to cut prices. If Li can get the L7 onto market quickly and do it at 300,000 RMB, that could really throw a wrench against Xpeng GS9, NIO ES6, and perhaps even BYD Sea Lion. I'm not a big fan of Li's one identical design across all their model approach to cost cutting, but there is a good reason for their sales volumes. Their prices really are undercutting all of their competitors.
@@tren133 he slams XPeng, most of the time without objectivity quite often, like every other EV review video on Li or XPeng. Lol. L7/8 and G9 are both incredible and different enough not to 100% clash.
@@enigmatum I don't hate xpeng. I just thought the G9 is underwhelming for a flagship model. its pricing remains a mess even after the adjustment, and my feeling is that it won't sell well, not nearly as L9. I hope the three startups can do well. the fact is legacy automakers like GAC SAIC Geely Changan GWM are all picking up their games. the window is closing for startups, which NIO Xpeng and LI remain to be.

The cinematography of these vids is so good
Looking forward for the L7 review
I'm going crazy with Li Auto! Just needed to be fully electric. And liked more the license plate on the rear gate, not bumper
Why would you need full electric
Thanks to this channel, all of a sudden I am soooo interested in chiense cars!!!! Great quality, congrats!
I'm in the UK and own a Hyundai Kona Electric. I love seeing all these cars in China that we don't get here in the UK
Give it a few years some countries in Europe already have them.
Just don't expect a price tag that is anywhere close to that in China

How would someone be able to purchase one of the L8 models and ship to the Caribbean region??
Are you able to facilitate purchase?

Taxes !
In China domestic cars have very low taxes on them.
我就是理想L8车主,我买的入门款。这个价位这个配置非常良心,春节回家期间真的太省时省力了。理想很棒,希望越来越好!

Nice car, and nice review
Do you know, when L9 & L8 gonna have English language option on the screen ?
Because Until now it’s only in chinese language.
I assume if they export, there would be English.
What OS does the L8 use? Can google be installed? How about English menu?
Li auto L7,L8,L9 use theyself os(It should be Android-based),The brand is not officially supported, the brand os is not officially supported english menu.
