"It can always be better, but I am happy with the result I created, right now" is a fantastic mind set
I love that you don't just teach the technic of how to paint but more so the mindset we can have to not get so frustrated and down about ourselves and our artwork. You teach us what art is truly about, and how to not get caught up in the lies we believe about ourselves and art. We are more that just the paint we put on paper. I think that's what makes you so special, the artist you deep down is so beautiful and wise, and it just so happens to shine brightly through your artwork.
*I hope that made sense the way I put it, but if it didn't please just know that you are a very very wonderful person, and you are very much appreciated and loved by everyone who watches and learns from you. So thank you for being you.* 😊💜
Aww thank you so much for your sweet comment! This means so much!
Emily Gee excellent comment!💗💗💗
Amen to that

Let's paint the moon with watercolors and chat about how to deal with frustration and the perfectionism as an artist or someone who just simply want to learn how to paint with watercolors! Comment below, what your biggest take away was and if you're dealing with something similar or something else! Let's help each other out!
This was very useful, thank you :3
Great moon painting : ) Maybe paint beautiful flowers next? Spring time is here after all ; )
please can anyone buy me watercoloursmy family does not have the money
Hello! I just wanna say I appreciate the part where you said that we have to learn to let go, and that painting teaches us that.
Love u to the moon and back mako!~ ♥️🌌
Thankyou, not just for the painting, but for reminding me that im not a printing machine. I needed this. Much love to you.
I have been try to paint with watercolour since one month, l have got a lot of inspiration from you . I had a lot of struggle but now I have learned that painting is just for fun and to have fun with the colors as well. Now I adore all my work . Thanks a lot for your helping vedio.
mako: "you just need to be patient with the paint and with yourself... don't focus on the outcome and have fun with it..."
me: yeah...❤
also mako: "... you do need a good quality paper.."
me: there you go. now that's a real talk..👍👍👍
I love watching the paint move on wet on wet techniques! It is so relaxing to see the colours flow around.
Ikr!!
Hi there! Although I loved watching you create your moon..your COMMENTARY was invaluable! What stood out to me wash your thoughts on how we should all sit down to ENJOY and play with creating. Few of us out here are overly gifted artists..and we can look at our work and begin to feel bad about ourselves. Your reminder that we do this to put out creative and kind vibes into the world is a beautiful thing! Focusing on the NOW and recognizing that NOW is all we really "have" spurred me to begin working with watercolor..after all it signifies "letting go" and "movement" ... I've been painting with watercolor for 2 months now..and I wouldn't say anything that I've created is 'frame-worthy' or particular good but I am reminded to ask myself ..."Did you enjoy the process Joanna?". Thank you for your encouragement, thoughts, and peaceful mantras! We are all to remember that it's not about becoming DaVinci but becoming at PEACE.
Please post again soon!
Joanna
not just the effortless painting, but the insightful commentary along with, was thoroughly enjoyable and an important part of learning the WC process.Thanks.I am impressed
"It can always be better, but I am happy with the result I created, right now" it is such an important mindset before doing anything.
I am always frustrated while working with watercolors. But surely after this video, I am much inspired. Thank You So Much.
Art isn't just about the outcome of your masterpiece, it's about the joy you feel in doing it. I love you Mako! You are one of my inspirations❤️
Thank you mako...what you said is true.sometimes i think of the outcome first rather than enjoying the process and sometimes it frustrates me along the way if i can sense that im way out of the perception of my output..
Thank you for your tips..really enjoy your videos.🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Thanks to you, I’m just not worrying about the certain outcome I’m trying to achieve, but to just enjoy the process, and remembering that there are always things to improve upon.
I was drawing moon while watching the video and obviously what I pained doesn't look good at all but thankful to your calming voice that just teach to enjoy while painting. Love you girl!!! ❤️✨
Thank you, I needed to hear that. About not worrying too much, and letting go, and have fun! Just getting started.
Hi makoccino you are the best. Keep painting and don't stop and keep teaching us, you are awesome.
Wow i love how the moon is turned out. Great job. Bob Ross level talent indeed. 😃👍🏼👋🏼🌑🪐🌍☄🌌
I don't know which I love most the painting or your words...well yes I do know it is your words that are so true. I honestly just love watercolors. I have no real idea of what I am doing. I just plop color on the paper... then like you said just love to see the brush touch the paper and watch the color move. I just play with colors, knowing I am not a talented painter... but that I still can be an artist because I love the way I feel. I decided a few years ago just because I don't know techniques whether paint, writting, photography or clay. I create something, and only if I see it. I am an artist, for so long I thought you had to be recognized as one,by others. Thanks as always!!!!🌚🎨💦💡🖌🗒👩🎨
Aww so happy you feel this way! Yes! Everyone is an artist! You create something, you express yourself and it makes you feel a certain way! And when you show your art to someone, it brings them joy as well! The way it makes you feel, this is what art is all about!
Wet on Wet technique was always a disaster to me because the quality paper that I have in hand isn't that good and I always get frustrated about drawing it but after I watched the video I decided I am gonna try again without any pressures and I won't care if it didn't turn out good as usual so I just started drawing without caring about how it will be or that it looks really ugly now and surprisingly it turned out to be amazing and I was very happy and satisfied and I had so much fun thank you so much mako your videos and your words always helped me I truly love you 💙💙
I love your attitude. It is so easy to get frustrated but like anything you learn it takes time! Thank you for the reminder. I greatly and enjoy and appreciate your videos! 😊
The way on how you explain the water coloring really helps
I am not an artist per se and I just started playing with watercolors. I absolutely love you, your work and your tutorials!
You're the best teacher ever I've been doing watercolors for years but just started back up again I'm watching RUclips videos on it there's some good ones do you really are the best one I've seen yet , it's not just your skills it's your PMA "positive mental attitude" anyways I think your videos are great and you helped me remember a lot of silly things I forgot about watercolor
Please post more often. These videos are so positive.
Thanks!
Your advice is helpful and lifting up the disapointment with my result
Brilliant video, I’ve just started out as a way to relax because I’ve been stressed. It’s amazing how you just lose yourself when painting
I like ur drawing and sketching too......😍🤩😉
I was so focused on listening to you rather than focusing on painting. It was relaxing and motivational for beginners and also to remind myself to not think about perfection just enjoy the process
I've been watching your videos for a while now and I love how your philosophy about loving the process of art has stayed the same throughout. It's amazing how much of your thinking applies to life too. I think a lot of us get caught up with reaching a perfect ideal that we forget to enjoy whatever that may come, even if it's not the ideal. Thank you for another wonderful piece (and video!)
Great sharing✌️keep it up nice✌️✌️
Awesomely relaxing painting with you.thanks.
I agree! I'm a perfectionist and watercolor helps me a lot to let it go. Your moon is beautiful! 🌚
Hey! That was an awesome paonting.and I painted with you.yay.
I really love how you painted the moon in this video and I especially love your talk about letting go, enjoying the present and not trying to controll the outcome so much.
Often we forget that the most important thing in everything we do in life and especially art is to just have fun ❤❤❤
Thank you very much for reminding me that.
I was so impressed by your words in this watercolor video that I just had to leave this comment.
Thank you ans stay safe 🤗🤗🤗
Thank you for your wise words 🤗. I love the comparison to not worry about making our art look like we are a “printer”.
So glad you mentioned not to try to get too perfect with a certain image or flower as I have found the more I try to “force” it to be “perfect” it goes the opposite way! Love moons and want to start to try! Ty
Your Videos are too educative... Learning so many things from yout Videos 🥰
Amazing to see your development of the moon !
Looks like the moon is a wet color ball swirling out it’s moonograph !
Oh and the moon painting is great too as I can include that in my space theme with my kids.thanks macacino.
Really a wonderful mindset you have! I've started watercolor a few days before with a nightsky painting. I just did pencil or brushpen paintings before and watercolor is a whole new world right now. So I found your words pretty helpful because my second picture wasn't looking that great in comparison to the first one. And now I think more important is, that I had fun with it and learned a bit about the coloring process (what not to do for example). I want to try this moon next - will look amazing in my bullet journal 💕
What a wonderful person!!
Those words really inspired me even though I know I can't draw or paint!!
🥺🥺🥺🥺
Thank You so much ma'am!!
I'm in love with Schminckes payne's grey and I'm so happy I own this color.
Its so beautiful
You inspire me so much❤. I used to suck at painting but I'm a bit better now thx to you. God bless you.
i love what you said about perfectionism. thank you for pointing out that we are not printers and we should not focus on the outcome too much, and instead focus on enjoying the process. i literally just started painting with water color two days ago and i was being too hard on myself for not being good at painting when really i should be more patient with myself. (sorry if this is worded weirdly i just really love what you said)
Hey Mako, You are my one of my favourite painter. I wish I could learn but My Father needs help in Business. This was my dream so I Quit. And your teaching skills are great and Thank You for sharing. ❤️❤️❤️. All The Best.😀😀😀
Wow thhat moon is amazing! Yuo are so good at art.! I love your videos so much Xx
Last night I was using my cotton watercolour paper (a tiny sketchbook came free with my Paul Ruben paints) and it just clicked. The paint did what I wanted and the effects looked so much cleaner. I was just doing a skyline view from my window with just sequential lines for trees, but it was so good. It was hot press but I still loved using it.
Wow its really work I see movie then draw!!!I so happy that i already now how to draw a moon
Watercolor has taught me to find perfection in imperfections
What an inspiration you are ☺️ your words help for paining with watercolour & in life! Beautiful art, beautiful person x
Painting is therapeutic and your VOICE is too!
love the positivity here 💕
I’m sure your book will be great!! Don’t worry, you never disappoint!😊
thank you. your words mean a lot to a beginner and a perfectionist like me. i love how encouraging you are.❤️❤️❤️have a good day Makoccino. you are an angle.
Watching you paint that fantastic moon and listening to your explanations and thoughts was very enjoyable. Thanks!
I wanted so much to sign up for your January tutorial, but will need to wait for your next one.
Your vid taught me more than just how to draw a moon with watercolor, girl, I wanna say I love it!
I have really enjoyed your quick tutorials and especially enjoy your encouragement to simply enjoy the process. Thanks.
I've just started introducing a young girl to art and she struggles so much with liking her work and gets discouraged when she tries to produce a piece of art and it doesn't look perfect right away. I've had paintings of my own that I've been working on for years and I know that I started them with a very different mindset to what I have now
I haven't done much traditional art and got some watercolor brush pens this past Christmas. This tutorial was very delightful and insightful! Lovely calm voice, love that you talk of mindfulness and patience as well. Can't wait to see what else you have on your channel, thank you!
Thank you so much for making this video. Yesterday, I had a break down from comparing my arts to others, so this really helped to cheer me up.
this was so encouraging and the moon was so soothing to watch. i struggle with feeling inadequate when it comes to my creative side, but having the freedom to just create and put something beautiful into the world is so freeing
I love taking advice from you because you are so down to earth and calm and most importantly pant wonderfully thanks Makoccino
Not only are you a great teacher, also your psychological insights and tips and advices are such a big help. Thanks! 😊👍🏼
I've been doing a lot of watercolouring the last few weeks and I do it because I want to learn about it and get better. I was afraid to start painting something, when I got new paints, because they were kind of expensive and I didn't want to waste them on a painting that might not turn out as I had hoped, but in the end I just started painting something and while the result surely wasn't the best: I did learn a lot in the process. And that's the most important thing to me. And yes... I'll be staying home until the kindergartens are allowed to open again... so, lots of time to practice! xD Stay healthy!
Awww yess!
Thank you Mako for giving me the confidence to get started and to let go of the perfectionist nature. Love your relaxing voice and understanding of how overwhelming it can be to learn something new.
impressive and successful work
Thank you for sharing this beautiful painting. Your words are so encouraging.
Very nice work my friend..👍🖼👌😊🙂👏🖌❤️🧑🏻🎨
That's so amazing! Great video, thanks for using my tunes :)
I love your commentary and your video! Thanks for sharing!
I can tell you’re using Arches because it can handle all the water 💦. My cheap Canson would warp like a bad time machine.
If your using cheap paper, don’t be discouraged, just use less water and you’ll need to move the paint more as it will not diffuse as nicely!! You can do it, and if it turns out bad, it’s possibly just your paper 👍🤷♀️
I used Strathmore which wasn't to expensive but worked really well
I've been wondering about this. I'm a beginner and a lot of people recommend Canson 140 lb as a good starting point. But the paper warps like crazy. Do you think getting Arches would make a difference?
As you said, the moon goes into different stages. Also I didn't realize you were painting for an hour until you mentioned it. It's hard to tell from the video but I find it a helpful information to know since I expected results quite in the early stages.
Your videos are honestly really calming and I'm loving it
I just started watercolour painting and can't believe how much I love it! Your videos have been great help, so thank you! Love your mindful approach on this!
This is a Motivation Video!💐
I love your philosophy , have fun🥰👍
I love you Mako! I’m so glad your back. With all the craziness going on in the world you’re a shining light!💕
awww
Wow!Your great at painting and you videos are very educational and hardworking...♥️♥️♥️ And i love your watercolor paintings keep up the goodwork and dont get tired Oh and also your a great artist!♥️♥️
i loved the way you motivated all of us by telling us that nothing is perfect. seriously, that's one thing always on my mind while painting or drawing, but this time, it didnt even come once. i am so happy with the outcome!! thanks a lot!
How right you are in your comments and I feel very identified. How is it so difficult to start doing something that no one judges you and only makes you disconnect? Day to day. Thank you
Loved it, not only the way you encourage us to not give up and continue practicing. You really are a great teacher. Would love to share with you my moon. I really loved how it came out
That brand of paint worked wonderfully in creating the moon's texture 🙂
So wholesome, extremely encouraging and enlightening - 11/10 for both the beautiful moon and the inspiring video of showing us how it takes shape!
It's a really nice spot of peace and positivity in a scary time, thank youuu 🤗
Thanks for sharing ❤ take care and happy painting!!
Nice moon painting, lovely tones.

Oh, how I loved this video!! I am getting ready to paint a gift for a dear friend...in cobalt blue, and I am scared to start...afraid I will make a mess...I will hate my painting....I will be disappointed in myself and my lack of talent! Because of THIS tutorial...I am excited to get going on it..and to see what the paint wants to do! I can't thank you enough!
Amazing video! Your videos are as bright as Moonlight! #makoficationsquad

I love your videos your an amazing artist and you make such great content
THANKS for the tips!
This is really relaxing video I've watched. Will rewatch it when I feel down about my arts again. I was used to always focus on the result than enjoying myself.~
