Ah man I thought the movie was pretty good. It wasn't an R rating here (was 15) which I think is a more appropriate rating. I mean, look it wasn't scary but I found it super fun. Was basically like going through a ghost train ride. Quite enjoyed it for what it was. Probably a 6 or 7, especially considering the Nun got a 5...which come on, that's like a 2/10.

I felt like this movie wasn't about Annabelle at all. and the werewolf and the comedy ruined it for me.

Last year we got the Suspiria remake and Hereditary, which are now my two favorite horror movies of all time, so I’m pretty happy with the horror genre right now. I just skip all the obvious garbage like Annabelle and “The Curse of La Llawhatever” that just came out. IT Chapter Two is gonna be great as well but idk if I’d really consider that horror. My family is too scared to go see it with me so it’s kinda horror I guess.

I think the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre started that trend. Which, I'm sure people today know that it was not based on any real events, but was completely fictional.
But at least when it was done there it was original and pretty creative for its time.

There gonna make "the bride" and "the crooked man" and maybe even the hellhound next in the conjuring universe. All these seperate entitys have so much potential as a movie but they will get ruined. This movie is a prime example of how they ruin larger than life demons and spirits.

The first film set up the second film but i don't recall anything in the second setting up for a third. Here's to hoping it's just as good if not even better than the first two.

I think they said why at the beginning of the movie, (I may be mistaking this with and interview with Ed's Son in-law) Ed said after "we think that would actually make things worse" That destroying the doll would "free" the Demon allowing it to roam free causing terror. With the Doll locked behind Church Glass and inscriptions its keeps the Demon at bay since it has attached itself to the doll

Fat Doggo Calm your anger. Breathe. Contain your hatred towards a complete stranger on the internet. Sure the film wasn’t incredible, but it had something special for me. Admittedly, I watched it 4 times in theatres and enjoyed it every single time. I’m a fan of Madison Iseman and the movie had plenty of her. I will acknowledge that the film wasn’t very scary. If you’re looking for a straight horror, this ain’t it. I’d definitely go with The Conjuring 1 or 2 instead (if you want to stay within the cinematic universe of annabelle)

Just a reminder, The Conjuring was rated R purely because they felt it was too scary even though James Waan wanted it to be PG13. Nobody died, there was very minimal blood so kinda the same thing going on with this movie. I think the big difference is the Director, story, & characters. This movie was extremely formulaic & predictable. I was never really scared, only startled by loud jump scare noises. This movie felt very disjointed & the ending imo was completely unbelievable within the rules of the conjuring universe.

I thought it was pretty clear based off of the trailers that the Warrens would not be in the film that much. They have no scare scenes within their own house shown off in the trailer. There is zero tension with the little girl because they will not kill a young girl in a movie especially not in a violent way.
The jump scares are so boring. It got so boring I saw a scene with blood in it then started to figure out in my head where new blood comes from in the human body.
Chucky was good imo. It was a fun movie
I never understood the appeal of horror movies unless you're a child. Besides jump scares I just don't enjoy them and find them usually quite boring. They tend to be heavily invested into the story where nothing happens or overtly gory. Each to their own but they're always a yawn fest from my perspective.

To be honest, this film reminded of me of watching Goosebumps from R.L. Stine.
It would have been funny and scary Warren explaining each haunted artifact to the babysitter and there be sum silly banter between the two regarding the seriousness of that room!
