    Happy Saturday guys! Hope your weekend is off to a great start. We are aware that Hyundai has just released a recall on the transmission for all gas-powered Santa Fe models with this 8-speed DCT. It currently is affecting a little over 12,000 vehicles and the company will perform a software update and/or replace the transmission for models that experienced damage due to the fault in the software that caused the transmission to damage itself from normal driving. Be sure to watch a great video from our friends at Car Confections who experience this problem in real life for more details on the recall: ruclips.net/video/QxMSEDnGxgM/видео.html

The first vehicle that came to my mind upon seeing this Hyundai was the Roos Engineering Lagonda Shooting Brake. It too had as wide an opening as possible along with high and low sets of lights. Buyer beware: Make sure you do some research on Hyundai's 8spd wet DCT before buying. @Car Confections YT channel, bought a new Santa Fe, and briefly after, had to have a complete DCT replacement. Similar stories in all models Hyundai and Kia equipped with the 8spd wet DCT. I was very interested in Hyundai N's and Sonata N-Line, before I started my own research and discovered the problems. Fortunately, some owners haven't had any issues. Of course as long as you buy new or CPO, you still have the 100K powertrain warranty.

      The fast lane trucks Tacomas front axle literally fell apart in less that a month.

      Yeah, that's a bad situation Toyota has gotten themselves in. At least they are making it right though. I completely agree that all manufacturers are going to have issues, but the DCT in question has been out since 2021, been recalled once, and still continues to have issues. I personally wouldn't want to go through the hassle if I could avoid it. I would either choose a manual or torque converter auto. DCT's just seem far too complex imo. More fun and engaging than a regular auto though, sure, and definitely their appeal.

    Stop Start feature should be illegal on all vehicles, its one the most useless feature in modern cars

    • @nickr3441
      @nickr3441 Месяц назад +2

      It's truly useless. They say they use a more beefed up starter so it doesn't fail. If that's the case, why not just use it on every car then?

      It depends on the car, I recall back in 2012 when I got a new three series it was atrocious. At a stoplight when the car would turn off it would be scary because you would lose electric power steering and it would take a while to come back on. But on modern cars, especially if they have a 48 V mild hybrid Mercedes and BMW it is so smooth. The B-58 BMW in-line six with the mild hybrid and the start stop is flawless. Start/stop in more economy non hybrid cars still have a a long way to go.
      In My BMW I definitely see a 2 miles per gallon difference, but I also drive in the city in traffic quite often so I don’t mind it it

      I got a hybrid for the first time last month. It sure turns off the engine often (kinda seemless transition) but do I want to be burning fuel while stuck at stop light or traffic? no. These starters are built differently. This tech has been used for decades now. There is no downside of this. I remember reading article about the durability... it was somewhere around in 7 digits of startup. No worry.

      stop star feature is included by default by many oems to "improve the EPA fuel economy numbers" it helps increase a few MPG and hence helps the numbers on paper at least.

      Please let us know when you upgrade your Camry to a Hyundai product Naveen. Keen to hear the ownership experience as I have heard many nightmares and also some trouble free ownership experiences. My understanding is that they are lower quality vehicles than a comparable Toyota, Mazda or Honda but have interiors that are on the nicer end. Now obviously being objective here, not absolutely every single Toyota, Mazda or Honda is flawless but generally speaking, I hear way less issues with those 3 brands than a Hyundai/Kia. And I don’t see many older Hyundais/Kias on the roads. Long term, I don’t think a Hyundai/Kia is the car to get, short term seems fine. Anything past the warranty period seems to be when they fall apart completely.

      @@austin.2716 haha I think Naveen wants a BMW, I’m convinced he has a high-paying gig at Hundayi/Kia cooperate though, he def talks trash about Toyota/Lexus products for a living (Hundayi def hired him to do this and he’s making AT LEAST multiple six-figures per year)

    The issue I’m having with the redesigned Santa Fe is how unoriginal the styling is (Ford Flex, Land Rover Defender) and each time I see one on the road, it just looks bland. Certain colors definitely help but it already isn’t aging well. It’s already slated to be refreshed in South Korea as its sales there are being trounced by the refreshed Kia Sorento and Kia Carnival. Love the interior update though! But yeah, Hyundai may want to rethink how often and how much homage they want to pay to the past with future vehicles.

    For those of you are making comments about this vehicle, whether it is pretty or not. Before making your decision, you should always check the vehicle out in real life in person on the highway while in movement. Cars can look very different in photos vs standing still in the showroom vs moving on the road. This vehicle looks stunning in photos but looks awkward on the highway.

    I don’t know why other auto manufacturers don’t have the second row doors open up 89 degrees like the Honda crv. It’s like they purposely don’t want to do it.
