@@Sturmjaeger I think the ep aired 2 years before the movie was released so I doubt it, but it is possible if they knew the movie was being made.
@@Sturmjaeger From what I understand, Ember Island play is the creators making fun of the bad fan fics with some self-depreciation of some of their poorly made episodes mixed in. The movie production started shortly after that episode aired IIRC and the filming didn't start until 2009. Still, it is unintentionally the appropriate reaction to the movie.

You know the morb is real when these two manages to point out everything wrong about this movie despite having almost no knowledge of the source material.

Rewatching this I realized... Shyamalan completely ruined the twist of Aang's saviour being Zuko, showing him buying the mask before invading. For a person so obsessed with plot twists, you would think he at least got that right.
Well, Shyamalan was trying to be faithful to the original, because he was a superfan of the show, but his producers kept butting in with demands to make it more “appealing” IIRC.
@@silvrose1066 I don't buy it. Shyamalan's massive ego, Nickelodeon clueless direction and sponsors eager to make the movie more marketable created the. cinematic trainwreck we all watched . However, stupid things like making the Fire Nation from Rome/India, swapping almost every culture, changing names randomly, nerfing the bending powers and many others, are all in Shyamalan accounts.

If he was an actual fan, he wouldn't have gotten small things wrong-- mispronunciations of characters' names, Earthbenders imprisoned on land, and missing Kyoshi Warriors. An actual fan that have seen the show wouldn't make these simple mistakes. The director isn't a fan and have never seen the show. He's a liar.

I love how they pointed out the biggest flaw with this world (the movie) is with how long and how many steps it takes to start bending anything there is way to many openings that other's could just charge at.

There was already notes on which martial art styles were used for each element, but once again a Hollywood big wig thinks their vision will be superior.

3:53 I hated this scene. Aang did not learn how to control the elements yet. The best confirmation was Aang’s usage of Air Bending. Because, you know, he’s the “last Air Bender”. The next avatar being an “Air Bender”. But no they used some psychic power level test.

I think the problem is that none of the actors had the phyaical fitness or training to do a martial arts movie which is what Avatar is. Good choreograpgy could have salvaged something from the movie, and could have made the awkward interactions charming instead if you see them absolutely killing it in the next scene.

Apparently, "bender" is Brit slang for "gay", and that was apparently a slight concern for Dev Patel at the time.
So, by that logic, the Avatar is a master of the four gay elements: Air, Water, Earth, and Fire. Must've been a real laugh riot for the Brits as well.
I'm surprised that's what came to mind first over the American slang for bender, which isn't very flattering either. That or wondering if the audience was just going to think of Bender from Futurama.

It's hilarious to me how they changed the race of the Air Nomads and Water Tribes from Tibetan and Inuit to Caucasian (by our reckoning) both to secure acting roles for the kids of producers and to not piss off China by having a Tibetan protagonist. Though it still doesn't explain why the Fire Nation were turned from Japanese to Indian

NGL Kronii and IRyS's roasting made this movie even better.
I just hope this doesn't paint a bad image of the animated show in their minds because the difference of the animated series versus the movie is like heaven and earth, sun and moon, and every sharp contrasts you can think of.
And the show also has the best character ever: Toph
My favorite part is that they don’t imprison the earth benders in metal like in the show, so it’s really just Aang saying “Hey, remember you guys can bend Earth?”

The amount of times they had a problem with something in the movie and it was like "Fuckifiknow, it wasn't like that in the show." Broke me, and it was only made worse every time they asked "was it like that in the show?"
Not sure why, but I kinda wanna see a spin off of a young prodigy fire bender who excels at it and lives as a traveller/nomad unaware of the world event around him, who eventually learns plasma bending. He wouldn't be part of the fire nation because of the constant travels. He would be a good person overall, but not very likeable. Cocky and arrogant, but skillful enough to back it up. Always wanting/willing to fight to test out his skills. He would help out those in need, then ask a price for it. He'd probably make money either by entertaining people with his much better than average fire manipulation skills, (simultaneously annoying every other street performer there) or by doing random odd jobs, advertising himself as the best fire bender around (which land him in trouble a few times) and guaranteeing results if enough money is offered, regardless of what the job is.

This two should keep streaming watch along with bad movies they make it more entertaining lol.

I remember watchuing this movie in the cinema when it came out. I went there with a friend who also watched the animation, and we were both so hyped for it. Back then I was 15, my friend 14, so we both didn't really understand how awkward the dialogue was, but even we knew it was garbage because they changed ther story too much. I still remember how confused I was, because you see all these elements from the show you liked (the ships, the locations, the characters), but it was somehow different because it was just bad. It reminded us of that one episode in the last book where the gang visited a theater that told the story of the Avatar, but they got some things wrong. It felt like that, but worse.
