I love how this movie never really focused on elevating one character into a main character status, coz a lot of characters got their own spotlight, their own time to shine. ❤
I believe that is one of the unique things about this movie, and I love it.

Yes, Ame... it's based on real story.

Stephen Chow's Kung Fu films are the closest we can get to an anime live action.
Yup. Trully surpassing Japan's Live Comedian Anime.

As an Asian a Taiwanese I can tell you this is true. Everybody in the country learned kung fu since they’re kid. Our police don’t even have a gun and sure they can block bullet barehanded. 100% true story.
And they used King fuu to help the injured ? Explains why my Taiwanese was able to repair that broken finger of mine with a blink of an eye !? Amazing
@@kaybevang536 In HK/TW We call the skill is 跌打 Japan call it 接骨,when people learning kung fu, always got some injured, so they always know how to fix the body problem.

@@draken0499 the protector and Ong Bak 1 & 2 can’t forget Tony Jaa if we’re talking about modern martial arts films
It’s straight up the fucking “titanic”(the film) of martial arts films. I really wish another film would be done like it tbh because it took practically EVERYTHING that made classic Kung Fu films amazing and adapted it through modern lenses flawlessly. I personally wish a film like The Street Fighter would get this same treatment.
The best movies are when it doesn't explain the ridiculous abilities of the characters and it's just everyone's imaginations going wild
It's actually was many Wusha novels plots though.
Ame: IS THIS REAL?!!
All of their moves are from Wuxia novels, including how the MC came back to life after being brutally killed. I don't know how to spell the sacred art in English but the one he used to come back to life require a person to be killed with a body intact ofc. It looked so cool back then for me as a kid who was into Wuxia movies and films.
@@clorkmagnusif I recall correctly it was something in the lines of Body Reconstruction where the inner chi is enough to reform the body. It does make sense cause the move is basically a metamorphosis as depicted by the butterfly.
The whole stream is just us telling ame that everything that happened in the movie is real

The Mauser and the Thompson Chicago Typewriter isn't exactly a weapon of well assembly, it is designed to be easily taken apart for cleaning. A solid bamboo knock will in fact break it.

That knife and chase scene are just legendary xD
I just love when Ame is wondering whether it's real or not lol. Ofc it's real Ame!
A ton of this movie is deep cut references to other Honk Kong kung fu films. All of the older actors are stars of '70s films of the genre, in at least some cases playing obvious versions of their old roles (e.g., the fated lovers). Even stomping on the soccer ball is a reference to Shaolin Soccer, the prior film by the same production company. It's a fun and weird movie to someone who doesn't know much about the genre, but to a local audience member who had spent 40+ years watching these films, it's a love letter. I only wish I knew enough to completely get it.
