If you close your eyes, you can envision the magic on their long journey, then as the music intensifies and speeds up, you know they have found the Christ child. The then, the music slows and you can feel them kneeling and presenting their gifts of adoration. Beautiful piece.
Hauntingly beautiful - as any good Christmas carol should be. That energy shift at the end was so unexpected! I'll have to look up more of Jonathan Dove's compositions after hearing this!
