6:14 Definitely! When I wash, I use 4 or 5 500 GSM towels. They are really thick and plush. I don't use a grit guard, no need for it. The thickness also makes using all 8 sides easier. Especially if you keep a spray bottle of Rinseless on you if by chance the towel does start getting dry, you can spray the sides still unused to wet them again.
I am one of that towel guys. I do rinseless always with towels because thats the way I prefer and I believe in. But the only towels I use for that task are without exeption white towels. Ok, maybe other light colored like yellow for wheels. And another thing I do not like and I believe is counterproductive is foaming rinseless. But everybody should do it the way he/she likes to do. And... its always fun to watch your videos.
Something Gary Dean has started doing is using a sprayer to add more rinseless solution to the towel after using 4 sides. Usually by the time you use 4 sides there's not enough solution to use the other 4 sides. This lets you use all 8 sides and use less towels.
wow I literally keep noticing this when I'm doing my wash, by the time I hit the other 4 sides, the towel isn't as slick. Makes sense now, I watched his updated method but it just didn't click
I do this. Use 4 sides use a cup to get more rinseless on the towel on the other 4 sides. Never introduce dirt into you rinseless wash. Use 1/2 the amount of towels. The Gary Dean wash method.
The sponge is still my preferred way. More efficient. I will only use multiple towels to break up the monotony at times or if the paint is more on the soft side.
I started with the Big Red Sponge, switched to an 8 towel method, then back to the Sponge (use a smaller black one from TRC). Haven't gone back, the sponge is a time saver. I use the IK foamers with the air chuck, and refill as I go. No hand pumping ever now.

No matter which wash method I’m using I pretreat with the rinseless. I then use power washer to rinse. I live on a gravel road and vehicles are always covered in mud and grit. Definitely will try foaming the rinseless next time. I use sir compressor to pump up my IK foamer to save time. I prefer to use the sponge on Rinseless wash. I did clay towel and ceramic gloss treatment on my wife’s van yesterday and the slickness and gloss is outstanding. Been using up my other rinseless wash( blue original one) and experimented with the DIY. Definitely will be switching over. DiY seems to clean better.
I love using six plush towels for rinseless and was never a fan of the sponge, but I forced myself to use the UBS last time I washed the car. I plan on ramping up washes two or three times a week and the towel method is not the most friendliest because of the laundry situation.
I do a modified Gary Dean method. I use 4 wash mitts for the entire car. I re-dunk the mitt only if it was used on the top half of the car, but once the mitt is used on the lower half the car, I don't dunk it again. Anything that touches the lower half is never used on the upper half.
Yes Everyone has preferences. What is Ivan's preferences as quicker, save time, save money? Is the Rinseless method or foam cannon with 1 bucket soap method? Thanks for sharing.
I've been using 8 chenille double-sided mf noodle pads to wash my black sportscar. I use one side from the top down to the bottom of the door window level, then flip it and go the rest of the way to the bottom.
@diydetail - I’m getting back into detailing after 10 years. Big fan of this video and method but have a question. You pressure washed in between instead of rinsing. I’m trying to decide if it’s worth doing that or if I’m fine settling for a simple hose rinse instead. Would love your advice/thoughts.
Sponge is so much better and faster. Once in a while I try the towel method but it always reminds me why the sponge is better. With the towels, it’s more expensive, takes longer working with towels and refolding them to use all 8 sides, and you have more laundry to do after every single wash.
Going for my 1st rinsless tomorrow. Going to use TRC Edgeless 450's as the wash towels and my Edgeless 500's with a drying aid to dry. Any issues you see?
I have tried both and i feel like the sponge is a better method. To me my plush towels are more difficult to use than the sponge. And if the solution does what its suppose to do the sponge doesn’t hold any dirt so it should be Safe to dunk and re-use.
I used this method with cleaning my friend's Cadillac last weekend and it worked great! Question about this method though. If you fill the bucket with the rinseless solution, add the towels and you are done with the job. All of the left over (and 100% clean) solution is sitting in the bucket. If you put a lid on the bucket, how long would the solution be good for? I think it would save money if next time you used the same solution with the sponge, then dump that solution, so technically you could use the same solution for 2 jobs.
What is better, a pre-treatment of rinseless(not foamed, just in an ik multi pro 2) before a pressure wash or soap in a foam cannon before a pressure wash pre rinse?
Gents, excellent information and efficiency that Ivan teaches all of us-question, can you use your clay towel with Turtle Wax Hybrid Solution Rapid Decon Wheel Cleaner and Iron remover?

On a coated car, relatively fresh bird droppings can be removed by soaking them in rinseless for a few mins and then using a fully pumped up pressure sprayer full of water. Personally I find that safer than using a towel.

Try 32:1 and see how you like the foam, if you want more suds add more Rinseless but it works great at that dilution
