On a cold day in February, a 20 min maintenance wash is all you need. A rinseless wash method is a Godsend to anyone who wants to keep their vehicle immaculate.
I'm glad you made this video. So many people are still worried about rinseless. I wash my truck and car looking as nasty or worse than this weekly in the winter (outside). Yes I did go to the coin wash to knock off the salt "chunks". But I do exactly what you do, just pre spray, use a foam sponge or mitt, both work totally fine.
edit: may be odd for some but... if its misting/drizzle using the sponge is much better than a mitt. The sponge tends to suck up everything as opposed to the mitt which just pushes everything around with the extra "liquid". I only know this because last weekend it was supposed to rain free and ended up raining 3/4 through the wash. Switched to the sponge and everything was good.
I do rinseless wash on my personal vehicles and maintenance washes. I feel detailers think using a strong chemical on wheels means they do not have to agitate thoroughly but this is not the place for a shortcut. I am looking forward to seeing how the shop turns out.
Finally got around to rinseless washing my F-150 with this sponge for the first time and I can say, I will have a hard time going back to soap. Really! This made washing my truck fun again! It's all that they say it is and then some. No Pressure washer and no hose. Brilliant stuff!
Yes, I was just going to ask the same question as to why there appears to be a significant difference with dirt emulsion between ONR, McKees and DIY. Yvan and Nick, any thoughts as to what we are seeing in that video?
If you’re referring to the video comparing the stratification of 3 Rinseless washes, here’s our response. All 3 are good products and clean well, but the technologies are very different. What’s shown here is more attachment than encapsulation. A pure polymer rinseless attaches itself to the dirt, making it heavier than the water and sinking it down. With a surfactant based product, the dirt is emulsified, with any larger particles sinking to the bottom. With the DIY Detail Rinseless Wash we use both polymers and surfactants to accomplish our goal of cleaning the surface of the vehicle in the safest way possible. When polymers and surfactants are mixed, the surfactants win. To make this an accurate test( as opposed to a cool looking demonstration) first they should be diluted per instructions ( 256/1). Next is evaluating not how the water looks, but how clean the wash media is when leaving the wash bucket. In our R&D ( it was a 3 year process) how we evaluated our Rinseless was on how it cleaned the surface, not on how it separated in the bucket ( add oil to your glasses and it will also cause a similar effect). If you can find a sufficiently dirty white work truck, pre-spray the products on the surface, and evaluate how they lift the dirt off the surface. Next go over the same sized area with identical wash media. Return the wash media to the wash bucket. Remove the wash media from the bucket and observe how clean it is. Our goal was to have the cleanest surface, and also have the wash media returning to that surface be as clean as possible. With that said, they all work, but differently
Another great rinseless teaching video guys! So on another video Yvan showed us a car drying trick. Using a smaller towel to get the majority of the water and then following up with the big waffle towel. If you use this method do you spray the drying aid on the car with the first smaller towel and finish with the waffle or do you spray the drying aid when you use the waffle to finish. Also can you use rinseless as a drying aid if the vehicle already has Ceramic Gloss on it from the last wash. Ceramic Gloss last a good while so why would you put it on every wash. Thanks!
Ivan, when you re spray the vehicle, and you re spray rinseless, does that further dilute the mixture? Or is ir not really that impactful? BTW barely recognize Nick with his new haircut 😂
This was very helpful, thanks! One thing I wonder about with rinseless wash, is deionized water required to have a better result or is regular tap water ok?
I’m planning on doing the gold standard system to my car. I have slight orange peel so I was wondering if the gold standard polish could potentially correct some of that? Or would I need to use something more abrasive first?
Question about rinseless wash: I have a white vehicle, which is regularly maintained, and has a coating on it...I presoaked with foam, and rinsed, and then applied rinseless from my IK sprayer...After a couple passes with the sponge, I notice some dirty water beads on the panel. Do I need to keep going over the panel until there are no dirty water beads present?
I try to wash my vehicle weekly and I am considering your rinseless wash. However, I have a Jeep with a canvas soft top. What effects positive and negative does a rinseless wash have on canvas?
Awesome videos guys, keep up the great work and information! Had a question for those of us that have to park our cars outside, what are your guys thoughts on outdoor car covers? Do they protect the paint from the sun/elements or do they just end up scratching the surface?
@@diydetailofficial I just watched your video: how to wash your vehicle in direct sunlight. Thank you. I will use that method moving forward with Ceramic Gloss.
Yvan I think you said a while back that y’all were working on a slightly tweaked rinseless wash formula. Is there any general timeline for that coming out? I have about a quarter gallon of rinseless left and was wondering if I should wait on the new one or just order more soon
Here's a key point y'all should mention in a video. The mental aspect of contact washing is this : With soap or foam, you hide the fact that you're moving a sponge or microfiber over a dirty panel, so you feel safer. With a rinseless, you actually see yourself moving a sponge or microfiber over a dirty panel, and this can be a hurdle making people shy away from rinseless. You have to remember that either way, a contact wash means you will drag your wash media over a dirty panel.
Will the rinseless concentrate lose its glide and cleaning performance if I apply it to a car that is already wet? Because now there is a higher dilution
Oh man... that shop needs some real help haha... I love it, but can't wait to see the transformation. Time for a new roof! And then some pressure washing, and some painting. Going to be a nice transformation

Some of these tests aren't really real world examples of the products, or they don't show what you will experience as results. I always used ONR as my rinseless added a bottle of DIY to my cart just to get the free shipping. So glad I did. I prefer it to the ONR and its now my go to rinseless. ONR cleans well but I find it leaves a residue behind which is a pain when it comes to drying. You tube videos are fun to watch but you need to experiment on your own as well. I'm no expert just a guy that like to keep his own cars clean in his own garage
Funny this video came out about the same time as that ONR compairancing video. Love your Rinseless wash smells great, cleans great just works great period.
Using restless wash outside in the sun when I use the legacy sponge what do I do to prevent it from drying too quick so I can use the ceramic gloss as the drying aid? And what happens if rinses wash dryers on the surface?
One panel at a time. But if it dries on the surface, no worries. What may look like water spots are actually polymer spots from the rinseless wash. Simply re-wet with rinseless and dry.
when I was waiting for my ik sprayer to arrive I went the distance to take my bucket of rinseless and just squeezing out the sponge on the car so I am able to wash the car. So this is genuinly a good and safer alternative to foam washing ( especially in the winter) great video guys!!
1 oz is 29,5735 milliliters. Let’s round that up to 30 ml. Therefore a half oz is 15ml. One gallon is 3.8 liters rounded up. If mixed in 1 liter of water then it is 4 ml of product.
I may be missing something, if you are using a hose to rinse the car off before using the riseless wash then why wouldn't you just use regular soap and rinse it off again at the end.
for the love of God guys. Please stop saying 1 ounce and half an once and then 1 cap full per gallon. Why? Because your capful is only .37oz. Even the bottle says .5 or 1 ounce. Either update the bottle or formula if needed to match the 1 cap full or even better yet. PLEASE make the cap actually hold .5oz. In this very video if you put 4 cap fulls into that 4 gallons of water you are only at 1.48oz short by half an ounce. I did hear you say over diluting or under diluting is not good. See the issue here?
Interesting point. I think most people are not that exact and tend to over fill the cap. I personally tend to be exact and use a measuring scoop that is exactly 1oz.
Actually, it's Waterless Wash that we said not to use on a dirty car. We did a podcast about the differences between the two: ruclips.net/video/VB-vorX4Z-o/видео.html
Technically, I didn't think that was truly a rinseless wash because you rinsed off the pre-rinse/soak with a hose & water. I think a true rinseless wash consists of a bucket (or two) with water, a sprayer and product. The concept being that you can wash your car safely without the need for a hose and additional water. I get that it was a Porsche and it looked fairly dirty, but it still would've been nice to see a rinseless wash without rinsing with a garden hose. You even mentioned the fact that you didn't have a pressure washer which indicates that you feel the need to even pressure wash with your rinseless wash.

Using restless wash outside in the sun when I use the legacy sponge what do I do to prevent it from drying too quick so I can use the ceramic gloss as the drying aid? And what happens if rinses wash dryers on the surface?
Wash one panel at a time
One panel at a time. But if it dries on the surface, no worries. What may look like water spots are actually polymer spots from the rinseless wash. Simply re-wet with rinseless and dry.
Thank you
All good answers
I have the gallon jug, is the cap ratio still used?
Yes
Is Autoglym Rapid Detailer ok as the drying aid ?
Never tried it
when I was waiting for my ik sprayer to arrive I went the distance to take my bucket of rinseless and just squeezing out the sponge on the car so I am able to wash the car. So this is genuinly a good and safer alternative to foam washing ( especially in the winter) great video guys!!
Good idea
When is the drying towel back in stock?
Before summer
Thank you
The new location reminds me of "Escape of Alcatraz" with the barred windows & doors. I realize it's a work in progress.
Alcatraz was cleaner
Perfect video !
Thank you very much!
1 oz is 29,5735 milliliters. Let’s round that up to 30 ml. Therefore a half oz is 15ml. One gallon is 3.8 liters rounded up. If mixed in 1 liter of water then it is 4 ml of product.
Correct
I may be missing something, if you are using a hose to rinse the car off before using the riseless wash then why wouldn't you just use regular soap and rinse it off again at the end.
Easier to use, safer, water conservation.
How do clean the legacy sponge after I use it?
If using DIY Detail Rinseless Wash, no need
I picked up a Walmart bucket dolly for $15 about a year ago. Having wheels on the bucket is a game changer for sure
Marvellous.
My first experience using it and wow🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯
Great to hear!
I have a roundup sprayer works awesome
True
Did my first rinselss wash today. So fast!
Thank you.
Love rinseless since the day i discovered ONR in 2017
Good

Thank you
Love love love Panameras.
Us too!
for the love of God guys.
Thanks for your concern
Interesting point. I think most people are not that exact and tend to over fill the cap. I personally tend to be exact and use a measuring scoop that is exactly 1oz.
Wait. You guys literally said on a more recent video that Rinseless Wash is NOT for cleaning a dirty car.
Actually, it's Waterless Wash that we said not to use on a dirty car. We did a podcast about the differences between the two: ruclips.net/video/VB-vorX4Z-o/видео.html
@@diydetailofficial Thank You. I stand corrected. Tell the marketing dept. that the names are too similar.
Those are industry standard terms
This looks like a regular wash to me . Instead of rinsing at the end you did it in the middle of the wash.
Yes
Technically, I didn't think that was truly a rinseless wash because you rinsed off the pre-rinse/soak with a hose & water. I think a true rinseless wash consists of a bucket (or two) with water, a sprayer and product. The concept being that you can wash your car safely without the need for a hose and additional water. I get that it was a Porsche and it looked fairly dirty, but it still would've been nice to see a rinseless wash without rinsing with a garden hose. You even mentioned the fact that you didn't have a pressure washer which indicates that you feel the need to even pressure wash with your rinseless wash.
Rinseless has never been hoseless. Rinseless is about not rinsing after the contact wash.
Looking forward to seeing the transformation of that prison garage!
