Ehhh I love my switch but I don't think so. The only thing that would probably be memorable about is the "snap" sound. It is basically souless. No shop, no themes, home menu music or anything.
@@micklucas1451i also agree, compared to other nintendo consoles the switch lacks in personality look at the 3ds and wiiu for example and heck even the older systems
As a console, it is completely soulless. There is no personality in the menus or shop. The games are a bit of a mixed bag. The zelda series has completely stagnated as totk is 90% the same as botw. The pikmin series has been accessiblised to the point of boredem. The mainline marios have been consistently good (but when have they not been). Animal crossing has had most of its personality sucked out of it. One of the main things against the system is when wii u ports are treated as major releases which diminishes the amount of major new games per year. 3d world + is one of the few that come close to being justified in doing so
What's memorable about the Switch to me is the console itself. I'll never forget two specific moments: The first time I was playing a game and had to leave in the middle of playing. I was disappointed that I would have to pause and come back to it, but then remembered I can just take it with me and kept playing. Another time I was at a hangout and everyone wanted to play Mario Kart, but the Switch owner wanted to play their game in their room. So I busted out my own Switch and docked it, synced up the controllers, and we played Mario Kart. Those were truly unique and impossible moments with any other console, and it was awesome.
Iwata actually worked on the Switch when the Wii U was failing. He also worked on some Switch games like Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild even before the Switch came out. Nintendo still even remembers him especially since he was in the credits for the Mario movie.
The eShop doesn't have music because it isn't an applicaton, it's run on the Switch's browser, and since the eShop is already extremely laggy the music would only slow it down more.
It’s stupid that it runs on a browser considering the system is limited in power unlike smartphone. Nintendo is usually good for optimisation, but why they have to make this choice?
As a programmer this is not true, it wouldn't even slow it down. You could have it run on another thread in the background completely separate from the browser. Heck, modern browsers have very little problems playing music or high definition video
I think Smash Ultimate's entite reveal cycle will be remembered extremely fondly. I don't even really play smash all that much and it STILL sticks in my mind as one ot the most awesome set of reveals from Nintendo. Predicting who is coming next in smash was almost synonymous with the idea of a new direct. Steve literally single handedly broke the internet.
One of my favorite eras on the switch was, just before splatoon 3’s release everybody got on splatoon 2 for about 2 months and it was so fun because the game wasn’t getting content anymore or anything the game was only alive because of the community Nintendo created with the spaltoon franchise, it was honestly really cool to see the whole community band together and bring this dead game alive for a while just because of the hype that splatoon 3 was getting, the hype was definitely one of the biggest aspects of the Nintendo switch

I think what I'll remember most is chilling in a room with friends and family playing animal crossing, or gathering around the TV to play SSBU. A console is only as good as it's ability to bring friends and family together imo. All the little sounds that the Wii, Xbox, PlayStation, GameCube, etc make only mean anything to me because of what they remind me of
I'm gonna get a switch lite second hand for $100-130 USD. I'll upgrade to the switch 2 when it comes out. But for now the used switch lite is all I can use.
I’ve only really started to appreciate the Switch for what it is somewhat recently. I’ve been a Pokemon fan for my entire life, and that’s really all I bought my Switch for (and Smash) at first. Last summer, I picked up Kirby and the Forgotten Land and all of a sudden it kinda clicked for me that there’s more to Nintendo consoles than being Pokemon machines. I haven’t gotten any other Switch games since then, as I’m still slowly trying to 100% Kirby, but I plan on getting a bunch of other ones. I think I’ll remember the Switch fondly for all the hours spent playing Smash with my friends and family, and being the perfect system to make me appreciate games like Kirby in a time where every company wants to make the next biggest live service cash grab.
I want the switch to be remembered that as Vanellope, the Candy girl will help me through further game nostalgia by remembering the best times of the switch including Super Mario Bros. Wonder
It changed a lot. Not sure if the Steam Deck would be around without the Switch or the Portal. Wouldn’t be surprised if Microsoft gets into handheld gaming soon. It changed a lot because it’s a super fun way to play games. And it worked perfectly with the underpowered switch.
For me, it’s also the collecting aspect. I have a bunch of games from companies like Limited Run, smaller run games, and going to gaming conventions and picking up Switch games I’ve never heard of before getting them. The only thing that will take away nostalgia in the future is that there’s so many games I wanted to play, I just haven’t had time for yet.
If the Switch 2’s UI can retain the snappiness of Switch 1’s UI, while also adding any number of personality touches, then that’s great. But if those new quirks, be it music, themes, etc. come at any cost to said snappiness? Then, no thank you. I think the readiness with which the Switch is able to bop around to different games is one of many keys to its success.
Paper mario the origami king and Mariokart 8 Deluxe will have almost all of my switch nostalgia even though i've never played PMOK because when it released me and my siblings watched a playthrough of it on our tv so i have massive nostalgia for that
I am currently playing PMOK and I am having a blast. I needed a game like this: my last 3 attempts to play (highly rated) games have been frustrating because I didn't enjoy the mechanics. Or the on-screen text is very small to read. Think of Fire Emblem Three Houses and such. Sometimes all you need is a funny game, easy to pick up and play, easy to read, easy mechanics and menus. PMOK has all of that and more (even emotional parts!), and it is gorgeous! Many people hate the battle system but I really like it: the game keeps throwing challenging puzzles at you (it took me a while before I figured out the rubber band boss). My only "complain" is that Olivia talks a lot even for things that are obvious, interrupting the game. I guess it is because the game had to appeal to many audiences.
It won’t be remembered in the same way. You can’t close your eyes and imagine what a switch game looked like as you could with every era before. Great games on the switch just look like great games have for the last 20 years, but I’ll remember it for being the console I’ve had the most fun with. The console Ive owned by a long way the most amount of excellent games. The console my family and I bonded over and the one I was least prepared to move on from.
I miss when Nintendo consoles could graphically improve and all the games felt unique. However I’d be happy if Nintendo experimented with pixel art/2D animation for MORE of their games, but ig their natural element is 3D. But the different artstyles would allow for 60 FPS so much easier, since they sometimes struggle with 30.
Future generations might not be able enjoy the Switches games if Nintendo closes down the store again like they did for the Wii/U and 3DS. Only a small amount of games were released physically this generation.
Mine was the sega genesis and it was sonic. I tried so hard to play that game to finish just the first level. Did eventually and got killed on the second. first i can remember was some type of side scrolling batman game for SNES i was beating up 2 guys that wouldnt seem to die. loved donkey kong country tho
Here's my predictions on how it will be remembered: Odyssey will probably end up like Galaxy where it's known as one of the all time best mario games, Mario Wonder will feel nostalgic but I don't think it will be the same as the new series imo, It will probably be phrased for having 2 banger Zelda games as botw for the WiiU barely anyone knows, it will probably be hated by lots for porting lots of WiiU games, I can see people looking back at the Pokémon games and enjoyed them but no where near as much as the ds Pokémon games
@@QnjtGWonQNqVsbYyzjx4You're right. Odyssey falls from my mind sometimes, probably because it's a shorter, linear game. Odyssey does have the achievement of being the most polished Mario game ever though, and extremely free to control. Zelda's stark atmosphere, scale and story brings it to another level, especially for Zelda. Odyssey is less innovative in concept for 3D Mario, where BOTW is more innovative from previous Zeldas, therefore more memorable.
I don't really get that nostalgic from the wii, 3ds etc because I play them alot still I more specifically get nostalgic from events when I played them like playing with my dad or playing my 3ds on the ride home from my schools bike club because those are situations I could never go back to but not the consoles themselves because they're not going anywhere so it's not like it's impossible to have experiences like that
Honestly because of how piss easy it is to emulate and even dump your own roms I really think this console is going to remembered long after most switches are long dead because of the battery. It’s just too easily accessible for it not to be.
Honestly, it depends on how the Switch successor does. People remember the PS1 and loved it but the PS2 is what people really think about 20+ years later. If all goes well, the Switch for as great it is, may just be remembered as the system before the greatest video game system of all time. Nintendo, right now, is where Sony was in 1999. Untouchable, dominant, everyone frothing at the mouth for it's next system. PS2 kept it simple, backwards compatible and more powerful. That's all that really needs to be done, I'm sure devs are looking forward to selling expanded PS4 games again. Handheld Persona 3 Reloaded and GTAIV/Episodes has me excited, because you know it's coming. And then Nintendo games with the power of the PS4....pro...behind it, maybe. They're going to have to mess up a lot for it's successor to not be insanely successful.
Menu never bothered me and I owned the Wii. Never paid attention to the menu layout as I just wanted play the games. Eshop is pretty bad though. Just laggy AF. The Switch will go down as the greatest gaming console ever due to what it accomplished under the circumstances of its life cycle.
The Nintendo switch, give it a couple of years, and it will be remembered as the first consult to do what it does because I think there will be other consoles in future that do what the Nintendo switch does today, or at least have it as a feature the concept of being both a handheld console and Home console. I think other devices in future will be able to have the same sort of concept of being both handheld console and a home console and ditcher, but might be dedicated to more than just gaming like they might be able to play games maybe or maybe not but the main application would be beyond gaming. They might have some sort of work or business applications. You could probably do some sort of like home interior design on the handheld device and then put it into a dock and then show your design off on some sort of screen, or maybe some sort of projector do it into Dion on a screen and show your creation in 3-D on the projector and future or something perhaps imagine something like this for laptops you can have your laptop simply as it is a laptop normally and then you can put it down on like a mat or a surface in future I know suddenly it connects to a big screen monitor and turn your laptop into a PC perhaps there will be other consoles that can do similar in future today we know see gaming phones. We even see some devices that can essentially put gaming controllers onto your phone and turn your phone into dedicated handheld gaming device. So perhaps in future we can see for people who work from home perhaps their phone is both a work device and then you put it into a dock pack up a controller and game instantly you don’t exactly have a dedicated console. It’s just your phone that you use for work anyway as a regular phone and then you put it into a dock, pick up a controller and game attached the controller onto your phone, how you do the joy cons on Nintendo switch. I know you have a dedicated handheld gaming device and all that people would wonder where this idea of turning a device into a handheld device and they home device or like a desktop or whatever where this idea came from this very common idea and where all came from and people would look into the books and see the Nintendo switch. We already have a few similar devices that are like this. There is a steam deck that has detectable side grips like joy cons, where one of them I think it’s the right side one can be used as a mouse detected and becomes a mouse and it is upright like a joystick so we’re already seeing competitors to the Nintendo switch and personally think the picture of handheld gaming is on Nintendo switch like devices and I think in future give a couple of decades many of these devices might not be designed for gaming first. They might be designed for something else and gaming on them is just a second after fault, I personally think that in future our devices our separation of devices they may all emerge into one because of us the concept of what is a phone. What is a laptop what is a game console they’re all going to combined into one major device and people are not gonna be able to tell the difference between them in different ways, or the very concept of separate devices is going to completely disappear to have devices that can be both a handheld gaming device, your smart phone, your laptop, your home PC all in one device
perhaps the best library of any console (ps2, 3ds, ps4, and gamecube are contenders) but it feels soulless and will age poorly due to the specs being in a weird spot where it looks good but games ported look way worse than other counterparts and run/look in a very 'muddy' way even if you havent seen the other versions. still, the exclusives are amazing and games that are made specifically for the console or less demanding games are where the system will shine... and also, it will be remembered as a sort of 'bouncing off' point for nintendo's future hybrid consoles, it did a lot of right and a lot of wrong but that will only allow nintendo to perfect the design going forward - especially since the switch has a shorter development time than other consoles due to it being hastily made after the wii u. i'm excited to see the future switches assuming they go down this route, i mean, why wouldnt they? its basically the perfect idea, and i wouldnt be surprised if sony and microsoft switch (pun not intended) to this format in the future as specs become less and less important
The fact that the themes are named "Basic White" and "Basic Black" make me think that other themes were originally intended. Otherwise, it would make more sense just to call them "White" and "Black".
@@Dreaming-Void the reason why the eshop is slow isnt because of bad hardware, its because it uses a website and has bad servers. the switch could easily handle 1 song looping in the background.

this video feels overedited. like a longer RUclips short. too much stuff is moving. also while it is objectively better to have 1 console, there's something I miss about the separate home and handheld consoles.
I fear you may be closer to the truth than you would like. I don’t think it would be that big of a shock if the only physical games played in the next system are switch games, and all the new title are exclusively digital.

Mario Wonder is fresh and new while the New series got boring and repetitive.
I am already nostalgic for Super Mario Odyssey.
I believe Odyssey is not as revolutionary as the two Zelda games. I think the 2 zelda games could be more memorable
I don't really get that nostalgic from the wii, 3ds etc because I play them alot still I more specifically get nostalgic from events when I played them like playing with my dad or playing my 3ds on the ride home from my schools bike club because those are situations I could never go back to but not the consoles themselves because they're not going anywhere so it's not like it's impossible to have experiences like that
By being the 2nd best or just best selling console ever
Congratulations, this channel is really cool
Thank you very much!
Menu never bothered me and I owned the Wii. Never paid attention to the menu layout as I just wanted play the games. Eshop is pretty bad though. Just laggy AF.
The Switch will go down as the greatest gaming console ever due to what it accomplished under the circumstances of its life cycle.
I’m just waiting for the kids to come in and say “it’s already nostalgic” 💀
I belive that there was eshop hidden in the files but nintendo scrapped it
I will always remember the Switch as "Nintendo trying to be Mature" with the lack of the charm the Switch has.
Animal Crossing launched right before the lockdowns
That is a launch for a game that will be remembered for sure!
Its about as good as the wii almost as good as the gamecube ❤
Well one thing i noticed people are calling it a jrpg machine
The switch will be remembered as the console with little third party support that couldn't match last gen performance.
perhaps the best library of any console (ps2, 3ds, ps4, and gamecube are contenders) but it feels soulless and will age poorly due to the specs being in a weird spot where it looks good but games ported look way worse than other counterparts and run/look in a very 'muddy' way even if you havent seen the other versions. still, the exclusives are amazing and games that are made specifically for the console or less demanding games are where the system will shine... and also, it will be remembered as a sort of 'bouncing off' point for nintendo's future hybrid consoles, it did a lot of right and a lot of wrong but that will only allow nintendo to perfect the design going forward - especially since the switch has a shorter development time than other consoles due to it being hastily made after the wii u. i'm excited to see the future switches assuming they go down this route, i mean, why wouldnt they? its basically the perfect idea, and i wouldnt be surprised if sony and microsoft switch (pun not intended) to this format in the future as specs become less and less important
I like the switch menu you better than the wii never really cared about the music which it barely is
If your reading this, hello.
I read video descriptions.
Yes you do.
The fact that the themes are named "Basic White" and "Basic Black" make me think that other themes were originally intended. Otherwise, it would make more sense just to call them "White" and "Black".
the eshop is incredibly laggy, maybe having music in the background was making it worse, or having it sound choppy when using the shop.. :(
Music wouldn’t change anything
@@conan8819 elaborate :o
@@Dreaming-Void the reason why the eshop is slow isnt because of bad hardware, its because it uses a website and has bad servers. the switch could easily handle 1 song looping in the background.
@@conan8819 ooooh.. why’d they use a website? did the wii u do that?
i honestly think the switchs life was really soulless and very dead, i dont think it has much of an identity as the wii, wii u and 3ds have. it just feels really bland
Good channel 👍
Glad you think so!
The Wii's motion controls weren't janky.
I played more mk8 on Wii u then on switch🙄
this video feels overedited. like a longer RUclips short. too much stuff is moving.
also while it is objectively better to have 1 console, there's something I miss about the separate home and handheld consoles.
The Greatest Console of All time
Pokemon sv
I am going to say something controversial and I truly hope I am wrong: the Switch will be remembered for being the last console with physical games.
I fear you may be closer to the truth than you would like. I don’t think it would be that big of a shock if the only physical games played in the next system are switch games, and all the new title are exclusively digital.
God i hope not, screw going all digital. Physical should always be an option!

I'll remember it as Nintendo decent into corporate greed
What is more "greedy" about the Switch than their other consoles? 😂
@@chunkymonkey7983 switch is overpriced for it's hardware, games are overpriced for their age, paid online, faulty controllers
@@chunkymonkey7983 no virtual console, overpriced rereleases, "Golf will be added in the fall"
@@WohaoG 1. Not having virtual console does not make them greedy,
2. Releases are the same price they have always been
3. They have had the "golf will be added in the future" stuff since game updates became common (Wii U era)
Do you think a Wii was really worth $250 in 2006? Nintendo has attempted to make more money on loss per console since the NES. @@Sykxezn
