- If you're getting into tailoring because you hate ill-fitting clothes you're going to come across a lot of sewing machines that can do a lot of things. In this video I'm going to tell you the only 4 things you need to look for in a new sewing machine. You want it to be able to sew a straight stitch, a zigzag stitch, a back stitch, and you want an adjustable stitch tension as well. Most modern sewing machines can handle those no go out and buy a $50 used sewing machine on Facebook Marketplace or Ebay and have at it!

Thread tension was the bane of my existence when I first started. These days I've got it pretty much down, I eyeball it in on test fabric before I actually start any projects. proper tension is the biggest factor for amazing stitch quality, so your game has to be on point!
I wasn’t ready for that # black people problems # 🤣 great video bro..
Lol I'm sure! Thanks for watching!
Yes... you got me. Anxiety that my internet dropped.

Love your videos! This is great info for the novice sewer. You really never need the 66+ stitches on new sewing machines. Have you ever seen someone use the flower stitch? I didn't think so, lol. You are awesome on camera, I hope to be half as good as you one day, keep it up!
I will be using the flower stitch for pocket square designing, it has its uses lol but I completely get you my friend
@@andreleverettejr3747 you got me, lol.
Hey welcome to the fam! And you're right, no one needs 66+ stitches. And dude you can be amazing on camera as well, seriously. I was AWFUL when I started, just awful, but I just practiced and got better, which ANYONE can do. I don't have a special skill set or anything like that!
@@StylishDTailors Thanks for the reply and the encouragement!
@@StylishDTailors I watched your very first video SD you were just more business formal than you are now, now your business casual😂😁
Love your videos. What kind of Brother machine do you have?
Thanks! I have a Brother ST371HD
Great video. Does your brother st371 have a chain stitch feature?
Thank you! And it does yes
After all the tailoring I've done, I should probably pay a little more attention to stitch tension although most of the garments are about the same tension i.e. t shirts.... MD out!
The freeze 😂
