  • Coolpixelgunuser123 has been asking a lot of tailoring related questions in the comments section. Instead of answering him directly I figured I would answer him in a video. You most likely have had the same questions as well, so let's do this!

    Thanks for the straight to the point tutorials. And best part is your tutorials aren't boring. I don't get irritated with any boring and long explanations of the obvious stuff. And the parts that ACTUALLY MATTER, you explain well.
    I love your fun personality thanks for making learning how to work the sewing machine and how to videos. Your awesome!

    I tailored some baggy cargo shorts just the other day for practice and I took in the waist band and tapered the legs, I also practiced on a long sleeve pattern shirt, it came out well but a very slight mismatch of the lines by 1-2 mm, I found that using tailors chalk with pins and a tailors ruler really made it easier too, thanks again SD, I couldnt go on a binge because as soon as I got over my fear of sewing my WIFE as always just has to drag me off to do something else she just never leaves me alone lol. Anyways thanks again Master SD (bowing) 😁 deuces!

    As a guy who will NOT wear anything unless I have my tailor make it “Made to Fit” and spent a lot of money doing that, the last few days I was wonder how to do it myself because of having to wait a week and a half for my garment🤨, until I found my new favorite channel I been binge watching.
    Thank you so much!🙂🙏🏽

    I used white chalk a couple days ago on my first shirt the other day. It was a cheap thrift shop tee that I ended up seam ripping cause I did the bottom hem on the wrong side. Learned. Made a mental note. Probably not the last seam I will be ripping...

    Hey SD, your videos are Soooooo helpful in getting this sewing thing going! Have you thought about making your own clothing from scratch? I am a heavier guy and the Big and Tall store prices are a joke (A pair of jeans are $70 plus another $30 for alterations). I would love to learn how to make my own clothing or perhaps learn how to clone/make a pattern of my existing clothes to make more, especially pants. Perhaps, showing some tips on how to alter clothing for curvier guys. I would love to see a bit of that. Thanks SD and keep rocking with these videos!

      Hey there! I haven't ventured into custom clothing just yet but I want too!

      Hey man, a tip that might help u is to go to thrift stores, like goodwill. Clothes there are used but if ur okay with that u might be able to find what ur looking for, but super affordable. And then u can tailor them just like sd has taught us (thanks sd 😁) to make them look amazing on u!

    I'd change colors more often if it weren't for the damn bobbin. Always a fight with that thing, getting it to come up.

    based on an earlier video, this would have been a good spot to tell us to make sure our spool and bobbin thread match (i.e. polyester, cotton, etc) or we can get a stitch thing (forgot what you called it).

  • @los2731
    @los2731 2 года назад +1

    What kind of thread do you use foe different types of material?
    Example: jeans vs chinos vs cotton tshirt vs joggers vs dress shirt vs silk etc

    I just found you and love how you explain things. I’m looking to change a flat felled side seam in a dress shirt and make it have side vents at the bottom. Do you have a video on that? It was too long, so I hemmed it, but the bottom button is snug too. So I’m doing side vents, but they are super messy. 😰🙈

    • @StylishDTailors
      @StylishDTailors  2 года назад

      Hey there! What makes you want to change the flat felled seam? And you can add vents if you want, but shoot me an email with a picture (in the description) so I can have a better idea of what you're working with!

    Hey man, how do u shorten t shirt sleeves? Mines are too long, so when i take in the bagginess to hug my arm, they look really long and weird

    On my machine, I avoid touching the tension like the plague. I only mess with it if nothing else is working, because I'm worried I'll have to mess with the bobbin tension, too, and I'm not about that life.

    Hey SD, will you ever show us some tailoring on your daughter’s clothes? I know kids’ clothes usually fit pretty well but I have three young girls and would love to be prepared to help them with their wardrobes too.

    Maybe its just the "bubbliness" of your personality or the being fit and bald thing, but I feel like you'd make a good overshadowed (but terribly under rated) cousin or half/step brother (since you don't look very alike) of Terry Crews.
