TWO QUESTIONS As a fan of the previous Panorama i'm curious on the following: 1. What happens to our archived projects that have plugins saved within the Nektarine wrapper but the Nektarine software isn't installed on the machine you're loading them on? Will they fail to load correctly? If the answer is yes, then will there be any other methods of mapping that doesn't require wrappers? 2, Also, can plugins see each other outside of the Nektarine software through the DAW (i.e. for side chain purposes etc.)?
Nektarine is a plugin that's a plugin host, so it works the same way as any plugin. If Nektarine is not present on a given computer and you try to load a song that contains Nektarine tracks, it will load but of course without any instrument on those tracks. The solution is of course to install Nektarine on the second computer also. You don't need to have Nektar hardware connected to run Nektarine.
I got 2 Questions ( essentially 1): what is the current state of the Panorama line in terms of software integration updates? Some supported DAW like bitwig changed quite a lot since the last update (implying modulators and java scripting API ). So now that the panorama family is expanding, can we expect more regular software updates to get the hardware actually keep on growing with the software ?
I love my T4! It integrates well with all my VSTs, Korg Gadget, Korg Legacy and Reason. I spend less time looking at the computer screen and more time looking at the keyboard. Also the faders, knobs and pads all feel great. The lay out is simple which makes menu diving very intuitive. In my opinion, it might be the best controller for the money on the market!
Glad you like it Dan, Nice! And sounds like you are pushing it pretty well. We've got a new firmware update coming shortly that fixes some issues with the repeat engine and finally includes sync to MIDI clock as well.
- The P4/P6 keybed is spring-loaded. Is this one spring-loaded too? - Is the aftertouch mono- or polyphonic? - And the following question is for you and not for Nektar. Would you say the keyboard feels the same, better, worse or just different than the one on the P4/P6? - Novation released a "Programmers guide to Launchpad" as PDF. This is awesome for me as a programmer who works with Ableton's Python API. Would Nektar release something like that for these keyboards? Especially to use the display something like that would be helpful. It's already enough work to reverse engineer Ableton's Python API. I don't also want to reverse engineer how to use that display. And it would mean that others could improve their product for free by releasing those scripts. - Is it possible to control the LEDs behind the drum pads over MIDI feedback (like on the Launchpad or Push) that's coming out of my script or does only the controller decide when they are on or off? - Do those LEDs have different colors? RGB or just RG? - Are the buttons below the faders back-lit? And one comment after those questions. Please stop making those VST wrappers! They break everything because it's a company-specific solution for something like VST which is (owned by a company but also is) a standard. Just imagine how nasty it gets when you use a Novation controller with Automap and a Nektar controller with Nektarine together.
This is what I did without any official documentation from Ableton. instagram.com/p/BoFUR55As9s Many more people would make even better stuff if the companies would decide to open up and release documentation for programmers how to hack (hacking in a good way) their products.
I was up and running in Logic X in minutes with all 9 drawbars working on the vintage B3 from the faders. Key feel and action is very close to my RT-3. Thank you for this great review. I love the controller, and am so glad I happened across your video.
I'm on T6 #4. I've had a sticky white key on the far right with #1. #2 had fader and button defects. #3 had fader defects. #4 has Aftertouch defect. I'd love to get one that works. I've been having other MIDI and Plug In Intergration issues but maybe that's user lack of knowledge. The keys are noisy as hell! I like the style with the exception of the open ended keys; I'd rather have them like the LX61 (encased). NEKTAR: Thanks for lower price but try not to skimp on quality "under the keys".
Nicely pre-configured for Logic X. You do the simple install, and the knobs and sliders are preconfigured for presets and Kontakt instruments alike. It's a great deal I think, even using it simply as I am.

It really does seem to be the season of super sophisticated MIDI controllers! I recently purchased a Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S49 -- if only for the great deal on the NI software -- and I do really like the hands-on aspect of working with various plugins even if it can only really work within the Komplete Kontrol host. Also, how well does the Nektarine software work compared to the Komplete Kontrol/NKS model? Still no on-board MIDI LFO though -- hahaha! Cheers!
I’ve used the P4 with Logic Pro X for a few years and really loved how everything was pre-mapped in way that improved my workflow but I had to sell it unfortunately. After watching this video about this new T4/ T6 really is interesting, but I’m curious does this keyboard offer the same level of deep integration with Logic Pro as the P4? Also I would like to know if you guys at Nektar will be updating the P4 in the future or are this nektarine wrapper plugin your focus moving forward because I’m looking to buy the keyboard with the deepest integration?

well theres a question, firstly i would like to see two rows of buttons under the faders for mutes and solo's, you could still have one row assignable like as is, oh and they need to be lit up as they are on the P6 but maybe different colours for each row for easy access in a live environment. i would like to see another 8 faders etc as well, as i would have a better use for them over the drum pads (i never use them), so that would give the user 16 channels at their fingertips with solo's and mutes. screen size could do with a slight increase, pots could do with some LED love, again for the live environment, but hey it would be nice to have small configurable Oled screens under them so you know what your controlling as well, transport controls are just fine as is. put this in a nice white case as the P6 with the same functionality and you've got a buyer (",)
Got it. More controls for live performance in particular. It's interesting that you are focused on the mixing part because we have been wondering if our users really use it. The P-series has better mixer control functionality for the DAWs we support than any dedicated mix controller but it may be overkill on a keyboard. But for live use to mute, solo and control volume makes sense.

Just purchased it and I have been using it for the last week and have several issues with it. 1. Pads are not as sensitive as I would expect. I tried the various velocity curves and also played with each pad's sensitivty - still not good. One of them is not as responsive as I t should. 2. The 4 buttons beneath the screen are almost invisibe and since they are almost flat - You need to "look for them" each time you want to press one. 3. The text under the transport button is not illuminated so you cannot see it and the light emitted form the buttons themselves - makes it impossible to read/see. 4. Nektarine is not as good as I expected - most of my many VSTs do not cooperate with it. I do like the keyboard touch - very nice one. I use it with Studio one and although it has a driver for S! - I feel that some things are not working well.
Hey L&S, did you ever figure it out? I also have Studio One and am about buy a T6 next week for the much touted S1 integration. I assume you have the latest firmware update and the latest S1 update?
@@gmyers4967 Hi. The Pads sensitivity may be edited and I kind of managed something but I cannot say it is what I wanted one pad is very sensitive while another isnt. Integration (for me) is half baked. Using Nektarine works with very few of my plugins (cannot say I tried many but with the ones I did - I wasn't too happy). The keybed is very good and feels great. I would be happy if I could use a button to skip to the start marker (pressing the STOP sends you back to the start of the song). I began considering buying a pad controller. When I use S1 built in plugins - the next/prev nutton does not work. So I stopped using it with all of my plugins. Moving down and up tracks works 80% of the time since if you add tracks that are not basic - it skips them (for example if you want your drum plugin to have more then one output track).

Keyboard feels cheap, has a weird aftertouch that works like a 3rd layer of velocity. Also has a buggy system.Having problems with keys, and the screen.Nectarine crashes the DAW everytime. No help from the tech support.Sending it back.Keep away.
Agree that the keyboard does not have a great feel. It's got too much spring to it, and is mechanically noisy. Hard to find keyboards with a synth action that feels as good as the synths did back in the 80s. And I also find the aftertouch maddening. It's far to sensitive and is activated unless you use the lightest touch possible, which of course compromises your performance. FIrst keyboard I've used where you didn't need to apply significant pressure to activate aftertouch. I've found the transport controls to be buggy (using Cubase). Often the loop button simply won't activate. Also frustrating. I have found Nektar tech support to be responsive, but they've rarely actually solved any issues such as those described, just acknowledged them. Nektar's website is a complete joke, too. Seems like everything is being run by one guy who doesn't have time to focus on anything.

If i decide to get into music making i think for most of the part T4 would work perfectly for me bacause i don't wann splurge huge amount of money for better midi controler. I'd rather use extra money left to get high quality vsi's. I wouldn't mind take extra time to set it up bacuse for me time isn't and never will be money. We live in digital era and have digita daw's avaliable that can replace heck of alot of equipment that is often crazy expensive. I'd ruther buy bit cheaper midi keyboard and electric drum kit for less money than splurge a lot on expensive all in one keyboard. Convience costs and nowadays more than ever so do try save money and if you wanna make things convenient chose wisely so you don't get headache when you see how much is it gonna cost if you want everything convenient. I am old school and not used to rely on convenient so i don't care.
Things I do not like about this controller: - designs looks like from the 90's - faders are too small (short) - screen should be colored (I mean it is 2018 bruh) - why remove the motorized fader? - you lost the advantage of not using the wrapper - no full DAW integration for FL Studio, Pro Tools etc.
I have an Impact LX88+ which is also made by Nektar, when a black key is played and you try to hit a white key with the same force the black sounds louder, I've noticed the same thing with the M-Audio Keystation, can anybody tell me if the T4/6 has the same uneven velocity issue that Impact has.
I love when you go the exra mile and actually make music with the gear! :)

@@LightShadow If it were me I would buy a Novation SL MK3, cost twice the price but probable worth it, besides these people don't seem to care about the questions their customers have anyway from the looks of things!
Similar to the VIP Software that came with my Akai Advance
Mr. Batt, is there nothing more interesting gear to check out, or is only Nektar the one and only whomis willing to pay Your bill?
Frank maybe you can stump up and fund development of Moog One level products to send to Sonicstate for review every week of the year?
Excellent idea!
Can the faders and rotaries be mapped to a range of 9999 to -9999?
Oh.... nevermind.
Why 9999 and -9999 specifically? That's no power to two (minus one) like 127 and you would waste bits.
It'd be a start, and then eventually 40,000. There are certain parameters in the MOD-7 engine that go from D8F1 to 270F for instance

I am old school and not used to rely on convenient so i don't care.
i recommend the t6
Do the keys feel as good as I've heard? I'm on the edge about it or the GXP88 also by nektar.
@@sedij2358 Forget Nektar !
the 90s display is quite awkward
Yuk
I own a Nectar Impact LX88 wich is very nice. This one is damn ugly.
very cheaply designed.. downgrade for sure
compared to what?
@@silentstormstudios panorama p4
Things I do not like about this controller:
- designs looks like from the 90's
- faders are too small (short)
- screen should be colored (I mean it is 2018 bruh)
- why remove the motorized fader?
- you lost the advantage of not using the wrapper
- no full DAW integration for FL Studio, Pro Tools etc.
absolutely ugly design!!!!
Does it have scale mode
