I wish I would've seen this before I bought the Arturia Keylab Essentials 61 last week. After seeing this and four sleepless nights of trying to program the pads on the Keylab...I'll be buying the T6! Great tutorial!
I just got my new T6 today. Great video. Always a bit of learning with anything new but this video is really helpful. I love my T6 already. I use Reaper and wanted something that would interact with it. A lot of time spent learning my DAW so this is great. I love the keyboard. I was using an old Yamaha MM6 which is an amazing synth but now I have much more control with my plugins spending less time on the computer screen and mouse or keyboard shortcuts with the control now from the T6. Many thanks.
I have the T6. I've found the aftertouch to be too sensitive. On previous synths I've owned, you had to apply a significant amount of pressure to activate aftertouch. On the T6, it's too easy to activate it, and I find myself accidentally triggering aftertouch all of the time when I don't want to unless I consciously focus on using a very light touch, which can compromise the performance.
Agreed! Excellent video. I like the main functions demo and also the quick-to-the-point deep dive demo. I like the info on Nektarine. awesome to have multiple instruments in one instance. I can see how the T4 is really useful for live performance per-instrument tweaking. I was researching the P1 vs. P4 vs. T4. I'm not sure how long the P4/P6 is going to be around , it's survived years now with their great support of FW updates. I like the newer hardware gear though, a fresher look and the keys on the T4 will be the most realistic piano-weighted-like-keys of all my midi keyboards. If the P1 was a P37 I'd be on the fence with it and the T4....lol....got side tracked with the comment and went to Amazon and purchased the T4. This CovID19 got me spending on new toys. ETA 1wk. Thank you delivery drivers and all front liners for working during the pandemic. thank you for providing us some level of normality.
how is it HBT? what about the keys? you mentioned about being weighted-piano-like... is it? have read too many conflicting comments on that one. Cheers!
@@gmyers4967 Hi, I like it better than the Arturia, it is way more customizable. However, as long as you go in with a realistic view of what a $200 midi keyboard will offer, once you start messing around with it, it will blow you away. If you go in with the expectation that this $200 midi keyboard will be your version of a Fantom 8, then you will be sadly disappointed. I say $200 bc you can find them on Reverb for as low as $178, so there is no reason to spend over $200-$220 for this midi rig. All in all, I am very happy with it. I have a Fantom 8, Yamaha P-115 and MODX6, JD-Xi, Minilogue xd, so I know my T6 is not meant to be my center piece one stop fits all for my studio, I understand it's to get my ideas down fast and it comes with some cool extra perks. With that as my expectation, it blew me away and I love it. If people are complaining, it's because they expect this midi keyboard to be their studio centerpiece and if you want a centerpiece, then spend some centerpiece cash and stop complaining, because the T6 goes above and beyond what it should do for the price point. Key bed feel is okay, I like it better than the Arturia, but in general I don't like it because I'm use to weighted keys. For midi keyboards along with the T6 I own the nektar gx 61, Akai Mini, Akai MPK 49, Lumi keys and maudio 02, I will say I like the T6 the best out of all of them because it comes with some nice perks and controls. At the end of the day, I hate the key beds on all of my midi controllers, but for $200 the T6 is a no brainer and I'm loving it.
@@natesanti Thanks for your in-depth review. Were you comparing the T6 to the Arturia KeyLab Mk II, or their Essential model? I've been considering updating from my Nektar LX61+ because while DAW integration is more than capable, I seriously am tired of the poor response of the keybed itself. Not the "action", per-se: I understand it's synth-action, and have a separate controller dedicated to piano-specific playing. The LX+ keybed, in addition to being lightweight and noisy (which is expected on synth-weighted keys), just doesn't respond well to actual expressive playing. The faders & knobs are meh, but I'm not expecting much better on any keyboard controller, to be honest. What bugs me the most about the LX61+ is perhaps how it handles the built-in velocity curves: a) there seems to be no way to change them easily without consulting the manual (arcane keyboard macros + 3-character LED display on the LX+), and b), there are only a few presets, none of which seem to be what I'm looking for. I'm pretty sure the T6 would address the former, but am unsure about the latter. I was considering the Arturia Keylab Mk 2, but was unsure whether it would be a better keybed. I'm already convinced I'd likely prefer Nektar”s features, but am unsure about its playability over the LX+. The fact the Arturia’s faders are on the right is also a major usability negative (I ride the faders a lot with my left-hand when playing symphonic patches). I was also considering a Roland A-800, as that seems to have a pretty solid synth keybed, but its control capabilities, while wide-ranging, are not very deep or versatile. It also has a somewhat less-than ideal fader placement (middle of the board), and a joystick instead of mod wheels. Plus it is over 10 years old (though it looks like at least Roland has kept up with driver support, which is commendable). Anyway, if your experience was with the Arturia KeyLab and not the Essentials, I'd be curious to hear more of your opinion on how the actual feel of the two keyboards compared, especially with regards to velocity and response.
@@GoombahYah Hi, I had the Essential model. If you are looking for a better keybed, then stay away. Like I said above I do not like the keybed, but I love the in-depth control. I like fully weighted keys, I don’t find speed an issue, I like fully weighted keys even when playing synth and organ parts, so please don’t base your decision on my very particular preference for a specific type of keybed 😁. I’m also a pianist that learned on a traditional piano, so anything not fully weighted feels foreign to me. I would buy it and test it out and just return it if it’s not meeting your needs, that’s exactly what I did with this and the Arturia and I ended up sending the Arturia back and keeping this. The Arturia keybed is faster, so if you’re not as skilled in your piano technique, then the Arturia keybed is better. Or Black Friday is right around the corner, if you can hold off a few months you can probably get a midi keyboard a whole step above both of these for just a little extra.
@@GoombahYah 🤣 sorry I rambled on without addressing velocity and response. Velocity sucks in both, but you can adjust the curve on both if I recall correctly. Response, T6 has more travel but feather light expressive play will not come out well🤣 so the Arturia wins on the response question bc it picked up slightly more nuances.
Thinking about this one. Was never a big nectarine fan though. Straight apples and oranges for me. Maybe a change of diet will invigorate my composing?

Can you setup zones for those instruments stacked up in a track or if they are in different tracks? Also for any given page if you have 8 encoders, can you allocate 2 encoders to each instrument in a 4 instrument scenario especially if they are in different tracks) and manipulate those parameters simultaneously using 8 encoders while you are playing and recording to multiple tracks? I tend to use one or two instruments for melodic work and one or two for bass/rhythmic recorded in two tracks with split function (other MIDI keyboard) and when my melody is ending a phrase in a long note, I increase the filter frequency cutoff of the bass/rhythm (left side of the split to be more animated for breathing room) and when I start the next phase of soloing on the right hand I increase the frequency cutoff of the right side (melody) and I reduce the frequency cutoff of the bass/rhythm to move it to the background during the right hand soloing, etc. so having simultaneous mapping of virtual instruments for different tracks is very important for me.
Can you use the different pages for the parameters without use nektarine? It looks exactly the same as Komplete Kontrol and VIP, and the issue with those is that most of the keyboard features works only if you have their plugin open. Is this keyboard usable at all without Nektarine or it is yet another bulky keyboard with faders and knobs that can only assign a small number of controls?
Hi Sara, Late answer, but still. I use it with Logic Pro X and all native instruments are premapped. In logic you choose Nektarine as an instrument, and choose what au/vst plugin you want it to be. You can switch seamlessly between native and Nekatarine instruments. The great thing for a Mac user is that you can use all VSTs (non AU plug ins) on a mac. Once set up I don't need to think about whether an instrument is native in Logic or a 3rd party one, run through Nektarine. Humbly, Ylan
Hello. Can you help me please with a decision? I don't know which one is better to buy between Nektar Panorama T4 or AKAI Professional MPK249. I am looking for a keyboard that isn't made out of cheap plastic in the first place and I want to feel something under the keys when I press them. Which one is friendlier with FL studio and It doesn't require a lot of settings to be made? Thank you! Your review was really great!
Hello! Both the Nektar Panorama T4 and the AKAI MPK249 are excellent keyboards, both are built quite well and feel great. I've had great luck recommending both models, but to be honest with you, I know of more people running FLStudio who are using AKAI MPK series controllers. I took today off work to play with this thing. Came about 11:00 on the FedEx truck. I have had my T-6 sitting on the desk for the past 3 hours, as a large paper weight. After creating my account, there is no link to download anything. The screen (on the keyboard) tells me to go to www. nektartech.com/TGFW and upon going there, there are no results found. So ok, I call them up and all they could say is there is no phone support and that they would email me. I cannot recommend this product based on the third rate tech support and unrealistic hiding of the downloads that you need with this product. I own Sonar, Studio One, Bitwig and Reaper and a half dozen keyboards and none have been a problem until Nektar. Hope I dont regret not buying the Arturia instead! I see many of the questions here should be answered on Nektartech but there is a serious lack of information as with the links that should be there etc etc
Try creating an account on their website, after that register ur product and download everything u need (that link TGFW is for firmware upgrade, as I remember).
Hi thanks for the demo. You didn’t mention in a real recording scenario that you record a track, and then record a second track, and then the third track etc. one at a time how you need to load Nektarine to record one track and then play back individual instruments for the 1st, while recording the 2nd, and then play back the 1st and 2nd while you are recording the 3rd etc tracks. In the case you showed there was no playback of previous step of recording and THEN you add a different instrument in another track and record it again while you are hearing the previous track. I’m just curious to know how Nektarine remembers which MIDI channel was used for which instrument and for which track. In case of Komplete Kontrol, you need one instance of Komplete kontrol for each track. Do you need one instance of Nektarine for each track? If not, how Nektarine remembers the routing?
Maybe this is such a stupid question, but... Is there a way to program the Nektar panorama to be used as a piano without a computer connected? And is it possible to connect it to headphone through wire or Bluetooth?
Hello! You can use a Nektar Panorama T4 wirelessly via bluetooth using the Yamaha adapter linked below, assuming you're hoping to connect to a computer. www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MDBT01--yamaha-md-bt01-bluetooth-wireless-midi-interface You can then either plug in headphones to your computer, or connect wireless bluetooth headphones to hear any virtual instrument software your computer is capable of. Excellent Demo! 👍 I intend to buy the Panorama T4 combined with DAW StudioOne (Presonic). Could you make a Demo about the Integration of Panorama T4 with StudioOne? With many regards from Germany - Rena
This is pretty cool but…could it be used to control a hardware synth? And if so, could I program midi cc and be able to control my synth or other hardware with it? Using it with a daw could work for me but really looking for a decent controller for hardware that has full keys like this, my synth has mini keys but don’t want to get rid of it, would this be a viable option for what I’m trying to achieve?
Hi, thanks for your interest! The short answer is yes: the Panorama keyboards have a 5-pin MIDI out to connect to hardware synths, and the controls can be programmed to send any MIDI CC. However, you wouldn’t get the same detailed visual feedback that the keyboard provides when controlling a software plug-in (for example, it wouldn’t show you the exact frequency of a filter cutoff - just the corresponding MIDI value between 0-127). Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me directly with any further questions! Caleb Lowrey, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1620, caleb_lowrey@sweetwater.com
Hey.. One question: How do I make sure Ableton is set to recognize MCU controller? I've already tried to change it in preferences... Any idea how to do this? THANK YOU
Hey there! According to Mackie's setup video, you just have to make sure all of your MIDI ports are enabled and turned on under the Mackie Control tab in your Ableton preferences. After that, the controller and Ableton should talk together just fine! I've copied a link of that video below for reference: ruclips.net/video/tEHKD9zOA10/видео.html Nick Pasquino, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 3230, nick_pasquino@sweetwater.com
Hello! Nektarine does not currently support multiple audio outputs - it will output a stereo/mono signal depending on the track type it's loaded into. Hi, Kermit! Thanks for getting in touch. Since FL Studio is not one of the DAWs for which the Panorama controller provides seamless integration, you would have to manually map the controls on the keyboard to the virtual controls in your software. I'd love to discuss this further with you so I can recommend a keyboard that would work perfectly for what you need. Feel free to contact me directly and I'll be glad to go over some options! How do I integrate the keyboard with Ableton Live? You say in the video it works great with Ableton, but I have a T4 and even the transport controls are not working in Ableton Live 10. Maybe you have a quick tip how to set things up in Ableton Live 10?
Hi, Johan. Thank you for your interest! With using the Panorama products there's a few extra steps to make everything work with certain DAWs. They have different templates, depending on what you are using. Here's a link to the instructions for using it with Ableton: support.nektartech.com/s.nl/ctype.KB/it.I/id.753/KB.1129/.f If there's anything else that pops up, feel free to give us a shout! Ridiculous how little information there is on this. I'm in a similar situation, did you manage to find a solution? I have no MCU option in live 10 and nektar website is no help at all
What I cannot find anywhere is how to get Sustain Pedal to work! I have it connected to FS port, and when I press the pedal, the keyboard recognizes me doing it, but no sustain. Anyone know how to configure the sustain pedal? Please and thank you!
The sustain pedal will have a switch on it, usually the bottom or side. This flips it so that if it's not being recognized, it should. It's more technical than that, but that is basically the problem I think.
Hello! There is no way to connect a Panorama T4 directly to a Zoom LiveTrack L-12. You'll need to connect the Panorama to your computer using a USB cable so that you can use the Panorama as a MIDI controller with any virtual instruments you are running in your computer. The Zoom L-12 has four USB fed outputs, so you can monitor your virtual instruments' sounds using the L-12 as an audio interface if it is also plugged into your computer via USB. If you'd like to go into more detail, please call my number below. Thanks for your interest! Nick LaMendola, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1660, nick_lamendola@sweetwater.com
Yes it will, but you will need to map the controls on the T4/T6 to the Blofeld to achieve this without a DAW by using one of the 8 available user preset slots. Not as difficult as it sounds but you need the Blofeld manual to look up the CCs.
Most people who "PLAY" premium keyboards are used to a horizontal bender. Look at the Korgs, Rolands,........ Roland got it right when they put both styles on the JD XA but failed on the cheapness. If they make a T5 76 key or 88 for players with both I'd buy it. Transposing on these little key controllers is a pain. I'll stick with my Kronos for the weighted and my Jupiter 50 for the synth action.
Nine times out of ten it’s faster to just do it in the DAW rather than try to figure out what corresponds to what. I have one of these but barely use it.
Way better Demo - with Tutorial feeling - than those in the official NektarTech Channel. Way to go Sweetwater!

I've had great luck recommending both models, but to be honest with you, I know of more people running FLStudio who are using AKAI MPK series controllers.

daniel john I’m rolling with MPK249 it feels more solid overall 💯
Which midi keyboard is good to control logic pro X ... Among Komplete kontrol a49 & nektar t4?
1:04 Oh that's a nice sound JESUS!!!!!! My ears are bleeding!!!
Hello! You can use a Nektar Panorama T4 wirelessly via bluetooth using the Yamaha adapter linked below, assuming you're hoping to connect to a computer.
www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MDBT01--yamaha-md-bt01-bluetooth-wireless-midi-interface
You can then either plug in headphones to your computer, or connect wireless bluetooth headphones to hear any virtual instrument software your computer is capable of.
If you'd like to go into more detail, feel free to call me.

Hi Jacob, can T series control channel strips? P series can, I bought T4 and I can't find answer neder i can find out how to control channel strip EQ but on P series I can
Excellent Demo! 👍
I intend to buy the Panorama T4 combined with DAW StudioOne (Presonic).

Does anybody know hwo i get the T4 sound to come through headphones - connected to a Steinberg UR242 interface? Can't figure that.
T4 doesnt make sounds as I understand it. It needs to be set up with the computers virtual instruments.
@@BigBadBonzo Oh yes, I forgot to mention I did have it set up through PC. Anyway, I got my answer. I'm a bit of a novice. Cheers.
Jaime parks products studio I use Yamaha keys but that's awesome
I've copied a link of that video below for reference:

The repeat thing you did on pads could also be done on keybed?
Yes, there's a button dedicated for the keys and another for the pads, just press the button and the magic happens.
When you stack instruments in one instance of Nektarine can I route the outputs to seperate audio channels and/or sub groups?
Hello! Nektarine does not currently support multiple audio outputs - it will output a stereo/mono signal depending on the track type it's loaded into.

Anybody using one of these with East West Composer Cloud?
How does it work with FL studio?

Which DAW recommends for a perfect integration with the Panorama?
How do I integrate the keyboard with Ableton Live? You say in the video it works great with Ableton, but I have a T4 and even the transport controls are not working in Ableton Live 10. Maybe you have a quick tip how to set things up in Ableton Live 10?
Hi, Johan. Thank you for your interest! With using the Panorama products there's a few extra steps to make everything work with certain DAWs. They have different templates, depending on what you are using. Here's a link to the instructions for using it with Ableton:

Is there a way to connect the unit directly to a Zoom Live 12 (Audio interface/mixer)?

Do I have to buy all the keyboard's programs or just the keyboard it self ??
the software (nektarine) is free for download once you buy a nektar device and register on their website.
Can this control a blofeld desktop synthesizer?
Yes it will, but you will need to map the controls on the T4/T6 to the Blofeld to achieve this without a DAW by using one of the 8 available user preset slots. Not as difficult as it sounds but you need the Blofeld manual to look up the CCs.
I have one and never got it to load up daw program so I've never been able to use it
I am looking for my first midi controller keyboard. Have you gotten your issue resolved yet?
@@randytellez2451 no still not loaded
Most people who "PLAY" premium keyboards are used to a horizontal bender. Look at the Korgs, Rolands,........ Roland got it right when they put both styles on the JD XA but failed on the cheapness.
If they make a T5 76 key or 88 for players with both I'd buy it. Transposing on these little key controllers is a pain. I'll stick with my Kronos for the weighted and my Jupiter 50 for the synth action.
lmao, this is a $250 controller...
Does anyone know if can i use this controller in reaper daw?

Why do people act like FL studio doesn't exist when mentioning daws????🤔
Lmms: *first time?*
Nine times out of ten it’s faster to just do it in the DAW rather than try to figure out what corresponds to what. I have one of these but barely use it.
Support ableton please nektar
and ableton shows REPORT A CRASH LoooooL
Not good for fl studio.
The pads on this thing are total ass.
