The short meeting of Pierce and P.Albert is nice. The extremely-versatile Piers becomes a little shy at some point, whilst the presence of Albert is pure steel, like of a charismatic cyborg :) . Mega-balanced and highly educated human being
Albert and his friend Onassis exploited two of the finest women of the 20th century to boost their sagging status among the .001 percent. A couple of grifters.
Well, he attended private schools, then studied political science at Amherst College in the US, so I'd say he's pretty well educated and he's doing a good job keeping Monaco rich, unlike most countries in the world these days.
To have a high speed car in Monaco today seems like a waste. The traffic is terrible, there is no place to park and after visiting it a few times you're always happy to leave. Quite stressful really. Piers did not mention the Oceanography Museum though and it is absolutely amazing.
Monte Carlo has some similarities of the city of my current residency: casinos, palm trees & mountains? The mountains are near Monaco but still in France.
You can literally buy a palatial estate in the South of France for what you would pay for a teeny-tiny-little flat in Monaco. Monaco is fun but it's silly to live there, when you can live out in the country on your own estate.
You only have to be a resident in Monaco for 90 days per year to qualify for tax free status. Imagine that you have $200 million or so and earn 5% returns, that' s $10 million per year in income, all now tax free. If you become a resident in France, you lose $5 million per year, because they are going to take half. So yes, while real estate is cheaper in France, it comes at a high cost each year in taxes. Now if you are that rich you can have a nice $30 million apartment in Monaco, and buy a yacht or a villa to spend your weekends in nearby France. You can have both, you just can't live in France more than 183 days per year. Also, if you get bored hop in your Ferrari and Nice is 30 minutes away, Cannes 1 hour, or Turin and Milan 3.5 hours away. There's no tax haven on Earth that offers as much as Monaco, if you can afford it.
If billionaires have a problem of paying tax and because of that they decide to live in a tiny overpopulated Little Estate such as Monaco, they could always choose to live in Countries where even they have to pay tax they know how their money is used for. It is good to contribute to the wellbeing of any Country. However, the main problem is to choose a Country free from political corruption, free from Organised Crime within Institutions...

I really didn't want this to be true as I love the idea of Monaco so much but after spending three days there the place is soulless, everybody looks miserable.
I suppose that could be true...I've never known many wealthy types to be 'laugh out loud' and overwhelmingly giddy. I've not spent time in Monaco, but I have in New York, and I wouldn't say that everyone looks miserable in the east eighties and ninties. There are a lot of snobs and power players and name droppers and a lot of bores. Money creates this. Nothing much to look forward to except for more and more money and possessions. Friends don't really exist, only the facade of joy. BUT...not every wealthy is like that.

The current Prince is married to a South African woman. We, as South Africans, are proud to say to call Monaco our son in law.
Funny (not really), he couldn’t give a fractional fvck about any of you. Stop drooling over rich, white men who think you’re too stupid to catch on to what is really going on. He’s where he is, in part, thanks to you. Where is your consideration? Have some self respect for yourself and community. And don’t just believe me- I’m a basic, rich white woman who knows less than she should. Google how money, tax, and private equity work in tandem with McKinsey and Goldman Sachs-directed US government and you’ll understand more than the other 99.999% of global citizens. At the very least, don’t stan for people that view you as… well, nothing really. They don’t see you.
Nice job! Great show! Thanx Piers!
It's beautiful
No matter how rich a country, state or city is, having residents who are "commoners" or even low income status. Otherwise, who are going to work as drivers, bellboys, waiters, receptionists, clerks, cashiers, etc etc. Not every single person can be a boss. Unfair? Inequality? That's just the way of the world.
Even French residents commute and work there for the higher wages.
If only the most wealthy can live there, then they should have no problem paying the wages of those to commute to it.
Every body can be a boss, if he / she like open a from?

crazy to think about how the Bugatti only costs 100k more than the watch
It was 1 million 100k euro
Back then... buddy
@@VijaySingh-wt1sp and the watch was 1 million
@@gogo-cx9xc wow you replied after 7 months damm girl
@@VijaySingh-wt1sp yeah thas right
Its funny if you watch it now, that he can actual afford the 1 million watch and at least 5 times that Bugatti Veyron with the money he has now. Man what a year to live there, 2000 till 2010 was really the best time to live there I guess.. F430 Spider's, 360 Spider's, Vanquish 03's, Gallardo Spyder's, SLR McLaren, Ford GT 06', 550 Maranello's, oh yeah and that grey Veyron passing by casual, its truly my time to live in. I Visit Monaco in 2008 and 2009, later in 2013, 2021, 2022, 2023 and also in 2024. I mean a lot has change, but its nice to come every year back.
One of my dreams is to go to Monaco and gamble in the best casinos there. To see everything live.
What you literally said in your comment but in other words was..... I can't wait to go give my money to a rich company and to see other people living and having what I don't have.
Interesting documentary, Piers
How much does a 5ft x 5ft restroom with a small window cost? I'll buy that :)
That would be 22400 Euros then without fees, can i sugest you anything else?
Monaco!!!❤❤❤
What was the year 5 rule for tax?
2,000 millionaires ? Way off.... Monaco, a city of 35,000 or so, has 12,500 millionaires...
Indeed. Where'd he get those figures?
Love ❤️ Monaco's lifestyle

I do agree with that! For some reason it feels claustaphobic and unhappy there
Really enjoyed this program...❤😊
Rich keep getting richer... this is where people meet who run countries.
Yes but do they have Prince Albert in a can?
🤣😂😅
It’s very interesting who is the King in Monaco,I remember when I was in there the sity menagerie was tell the surrounding area to be clear, because it was the only place where the King 👑 would have coronated, and me and my wife would see by Farr to see that Coronation which was very much interesting 🧐 😅😊
I like the place, the sea, the sun, the flower gardens etc, equal f.e. Picasso as he arrived at the Cote d'Azur and want never left.
I m an Artist creator etc too
Wow! Super! ✌️
When people ask me where I come from. I very often get that awe reaction. I even feel intimidating until I correct them : it's not Monaco, it's MOROCCO !"
Then I get that ' oh '
It is 2023 and I am glad I found this on YT. Mohamed Al-Fayed really likes Diana.
