Just visited this place and it was amazing. You don't need to be a millionaire to fit in, but you do to live there. My wife and I make about $500,000 per year together and could easily afford to stay at the hotel de paris and eat at their michelin restaurants, surrounded by these russian oligarchs. It was pretty funny to see how easily you can hang and eat around these people, and appear like you are rich (if dressed right as well) but to LIVE there perpetually would be impossible for almost anyone.
Lol. Yes, they don't actually play pentanque with Faberge eggs and the hotel doorman will let you inside the lobby even if you're not wearing a complicated Patek Philippe despite high humidity. How exactly did you expect them to notice you're not "one of them", I'd imagine most people earning a fine professional's salary are generally sharp-looking?
At 33:00 40,000 workers of Monaco (who are not probably citizens of Monaco) live outside Monaco. They enter and leave Monaco daily. At 31:25 the average monthly wage of these 40,000 Monaco workers is around 2,000€. Monaco population is around 38.000 and the average annual GDP for every citizen of Monaco is around 168,000€. At 18:45 Monaco has 2,000 millionaires and 50 billionaires.
Being Monegasque, I totally agree with what James Caan said. And there is no envy in Monaco among those who live here. Go home, Piers. You were not to be here slagging us off.
Is it widespread that foreginers with address in Monaco hire locals, or French, people to drive their car around the city, getting some parking tickets, turn on electric and water in the appartments now and then, and similar things to pretend they are in the country while they actually are somewhere else?)
Can’t believe that Piers is being totally honest, when he says he thought a diamond encrusted watch would be circa €2000. A basic Rolex datejust costs circa £8k, please don’t masquerade as a working class man in the street Piers....... you are a millionaire several times over.🤨
Nope, you are then not considered a citizen of Monaco and will be paying 50% tax on that yacht of yours. You are only allowed to dock your boat in a specific space as well, and docking fee's and maintenance is in the MILLIONS every year. I love how poor people have no clue and think they are smart enough to cheat the system lmao, if you were smart you wouldnt be poor homie.
Most people seem to think that the rich do not pay any income tax if they live in Monaco. A wealthy person with businesses in the UK gets dividends from owned companies. The dividends are taxed in the UK at the non-resident rate of perhaps 25% which is the rate that the average person pays. If the owners resided in the UK the rate would be over 50%. The wealthy still pay tax and they pay a lot of taxes just not as much as they would if they resided in the UK.
I love Monaco❤️! My last visit was in January of this year and visit the tomb of Prince Raneiro for the first time ... it was very sad to see Grace Patrícia Kelly and Principe Raneiro tombs 😢.
I never feel jealous....I always feel the need to approach rich people and ask what can I learn from you....what networking groups are you part of?....any contacts they know that can help me....their way of viewing risk and mind set. I think if everyone did that they would attract more wealth towards them.
'I think if everyone did that they would attract more wealth towards them.' Yeah but there aren't enough recources in the world for everyone to live like that. So if you follow their advice you may become a millionaire, but if everyone follows their advice then the advice won't work anymore simply because everyone is doing it.
@@ludastout2852 People pay for their own kid's schools, the health insurance take care of the hospital. Also They do tax the businesses. But no income tax. And monaco is a small country, their government don't need huge amount of money to operate.
Taxes - for instance, in Canada our Prime Minister wastes our hard earned tax money on making himself a Billionaire or Trillionaire. Many Presidents and Prime Minister, like Trudeau, have very selfish motives, lie, steal and even kill to be powerful and extremely rich. That is the ugly and sad part of money. Why do people, like Trudeau, feel they are so entitled to power and wealth?

How exactly did you expect them to notice you're not "one of them", I'd imagine most people earning a fine professional's salary are generally sharp-looking?
Love this documentary, one of the best I have seen.
At 18:45 Monaco has 2,000 millionaires and 50 billionaires.
great documentry thanks for the upload
Opening looks like a 70's detective show on TV. Ha ha.
Magnum P.I
Yes, hah
Most of the music used here I recognize from Ocean's 11 - 13. Epic movies.. just wish someone could get us a playlist
This was 9 years ago, he should go back and see what has changed since then! 😁
A slum for rich people afraid of paying taxes!
Castor Micah I was there in April. It’s disgusting, you must REALLY want to avoid taxes to live there.
@@MFRUclips683 Born and raised in Monaco and I'm not even rich.
Der Kolben 😞
Afraid? The word you're searching for is 'refuse.'The rich refuse to pay taxes. That'swhat being rich is all about.
If you are not living and using the resources of a country, why pay taxes? Monico is supported in other ways.
What is wrong with that?
I have to stop watching these Piers Morgan lifestyles of the rich shows. I'm starting to like him :(
caldwell1966 Nup, still a Wanker!
@@jacksbackable He thinks he's witty and funny, but you're right. He's actually a total douche bag
a Veyron for 1,1 Million is a bargain today !!!
I have enough saving to fly to Monte Carlo, get a free cup of water and head back on the 1st flight back the US.
Can’t believe that Piers is being totally honest, when he says he thought a diamond encrusted watch would be circa €2000.
A basic Rolex datejust costs circa £8k, please don’t masquerade as a working class man in the street Piers....... you are a millionaire several times over.🤨
piers....very enjoyable watching this. thank you
Just anchor your yacht or park it in a slip, and live on it. Then you don't have to spend 30 million more.
Right lmao
+Franklin Clinton The docking fees are enormous.
Uh apart from the upkeep.
LulzRoyce whats your income ?
Most people seem to think that the rich do not pay any income tax if they live in Monaco. A wealthy person with businesses in the UK gets dividends from owned companies. The dividends are taxed in the UK at the non-resident rate of perhaps 25% which is the rate that the average person pays. If the owners resided in the UK the rate would be over 50%. The wealthy still pay tax and they pay a lot of taxes just not as much as they would if they resided in the UK.
+peggyt1243 It's called aggressive tax avoidance.
Right. Just a lower rate
Wonder how many of those people are truly happy?? Happiness comes from within, loving oneself not material things.
The place of glamour and elegance, very astounding
when 10 million dollars, is considered "comfortable"
Piers has DONE a good job on this ...
Well, Piers that Mercedes’ rims (the segment you with David Coulthard) will cost some money. Lol
No matter how many times i see this video it still makes me feel good ...what a lifestyle incredible.....
Marvellous humor,
Wonderful place to be 🙂✌
I love Monaco❤️! My last visit was in January of this year and visit the tomb of Prince Raneiro for the first time ... it was very sad to see Grace Patrícia Kelly and Principe Raneiro tombs 😢.
Ok
Aluand K 😂😂👌
PRINCE RANIER.
I never feel jealous....I always feel the need to approach rich people and ask what can I learn from you....what networking groups are you part of?....any contacts they know that can help me....their way of viewing risk and mind set. I think if everyone did that they would attract more wealth towards them.
I feel the same. I am not jealous of them, I want to learn from them so I can achieve my own success.
'I think if everyone did that they would attract more wealth towards them.'
Yeah but there aren't enough recources in the world for everyone to live like that. So if you follow their advice you may become a millionaire, but if everyone follows their advice then the advice won't work anymore simply because everyone is doing it.
people do pay alot of taxes in monaco....just not in income taxes
Oh they don't. Everything is just mad expensive there
Right! There are no factories their or industries.Who is paying for hospitals, schools and infrastructure? Tourist s?
Luda Stout I thought they said the casino brought in tax revenue. Maybe also a sales tax too.
@@ludastout2852 racism
@@ludastout2852 People pay for their own kid's schools, the health insurance take care of the hospital. Also They do tax the businesses. But no income tax. And monaco is a small country, their government don't need huge amount of money to operate.
if all in the world could live like this we would have peace and happiness forever.
Best thing about this show is the opening music. What is it?
Well I was going to buy that 60mil flat until the information of law that I’m required to wear a shirt while on the streets. I’ve got my standards. Low ones of course.
funny Piers Morgan isn't doing that bad himself ~ $20 million
By 2023 alot of the prices seem so dated!
Wonderful video! Greatly enjoyed it! Thank you!
Actually a reasonably thorough doco with good music.
At 2:18 he asked how many zeros do you need in your bank account to live in monaco. I have 00000000 $ so can I apply?
Sure, go ahead and apply.
Well when I was in the Navy I got to visit Miami, I saw yauchts right by the Mall I was amazed.
We need an updated version
14:18 This episode was released exactly 10 years ago, in Feb. 2009. It's crazy how Britain has not changed since then. It just shows how incompetent we are dealing with knife crime. 10 years and no significant difference. I wonder where Britain will be in another 10 years time?
It's an insult towards decency and the honesty of the genuinely religious people.
