Matt you’re the absolute best online teacher that I’ve ever seen. Between your videos and my local instructor I’ve significantly lowered my scores. I believe I’ll break 90 very soon. Thank for all the time you put into getting us all better.
I'll second that.
I'm SOOOO glad you said it's just a subtle difference in the swings! I see such different motions at the driving range it always baffles me!
As a former baseball player that picked up golf 3 years ago, the hardest thing for me was driver control because I couldn’t quite get this concept. Recently, I’ve narrowed my misses because of that “outward takeaway” feeling with the driver. HUGE tip that I wish I heard years ago.
This is such a great tip! I played today and used the (in my case because I’m a lefty) right eye or right ear alignment. It nearly fixed all my woes (except for my occasional inconsistency). Matt, I’ve never heard it explained this way before, but for me, it just worked. My greatest thanks.
Excellent. I’d recently worked this out for myself and you have confirmed it for me. I became obsessed with how I was taking the driver back to make it visually like the iron. But ended up with it being so far inside I was stuck. Years ago a coach showed me where the driver head should be but never explained it. Just dragged the club head there. Now I know. Thanks. Great video. Great style
Positional advice is golden. Loved tip #1., gonna use as soon as possible thank you Matt!!
So clear. Many instruction online make me feel as if the two were night and day different. My driver has gotten off lately and I have been possibly over thinking it with slight setup off track. I will go back to 101. I was seeking distance and it has cost me accuracy and distance.
Yet again. Great simple teaching style. Excellent work Matt!
Awesome, for some reason my driver swing is out of sync this season. This will definitely help!
Sweet Matt; I’ve been working on the stack and tilt because of my aching back. For me the key is keeping the V on my arms through out the swing and standing against the wall. Still struggling on not rotating the arms or rotating the arms, (turning the screw). Still struggling with the driver but it’s a work in process. Thanks for all your great videos. Love ya brother.
I really like the slow-motion swings. I've been struggling with coming in too steep. In the slo-mo I can really see what the correct planes look like. My right elbow gets to far from me on the downswing and I am basically swinging straight down
Thanks for the video. I've gotten better because of them.
Finally some worthwhile instruction. Comparison = learning.
Glad to see you on a course.
Great stuff
Thank you so much this explains why I suck as my clubs get longer I need to keep my takeaway in mind and not pull it inside which causes massive snap hooks
Same! Took this to the range tonight, no more snap hooks! 👍
Thanks for the tips Matt!
Hello Mr SG
You are doing a great job educating common Golfers, Thanks
Request: can you please also show your Standing for all shots with Ball placement from the Front to understand completely
For example if you are using Iron 6 then where do you place the ball and what will be your standing in front of the ball.
Side way is really not helping a lot
Thanks again for your time and efforts!!!
Thank you! Literally ended weeks of sadness. Couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong and this was the fix! 🤘
Great video quality!
jack teaches one basic swing, driver thru wedge, length of shaft determines width of stance but the ball position is the same for all, just inside left foot
If you have an upright swing like Jack, you're right. Also some of us who, like Jack, have a 2 plane swing, may have to move the back a little. For those guys with a rotary, 1 plane (Hogan) type swing, that's a disaster.
Great instructional video and easy to understand and hopefully incorporate into my game. P
Great video (topic)
You would love Hawaii! 🤙🏾🤣
Good morning MSG. I hit irons off the tee 99% of the time. My back and my left knee replacement wont allow me to hit driver anymore. I try and play boggie golf. If I get around the greens I'm pretty good. Thanks for all u do for us.
I'm trying to break 100 and this weekend I shot a 103 Saturday and a 107 on Sunday two courses I have never played.... But any tips to break though?
Take note where you’re struggling the most, then go practice a lot in that area. If it’s your short game, go spend a few hours a week at the chipping green. If it’s putting, go put a lot.
Good video and nice shots!
So Matt the bottom of your arc with the iron is slightly ahead of the ball. I think why I am struggling with the driver is even though my ball position is forward I am still moving the bottom of my arc to be in front of the ball. I seemingly have tried everything to fix this and still I take a small skimming divot with the driver after the ball. Any help would be appreciated.
Hey Matt, don’t mean to get off topic here, but do you think you can do a short video on “Stretching” ?
I’m getting a little older now, and need to see if there is a “Warm up” routine you recommend.
BTW, I am from Valley Center, pretty close to Poway, but really far from GA !
Thank you for your expertise and awesome videos

What about weight distribution?
I'm a bit longer so I've been playing smarter with iron/hybrids lately. Thanks for another great vid man!
Great video! When's the next course vlog?
Matt you once mentioned that for you there’s a little extra movement of the club head at the top of your backswing. You stretch your shoulder turn even at the top of the backswing. Recently I have realized that I start my shoulder turn a fraction of a second late. Which means my shoulder turn has to play catch-up. So as I reach the top of my backswing I can’t have been starting my lateral movement towards the target without getting to forceful with my hands. You stretch beyond 90 degrees on your backswing. Bryson DeChambeau missed more than half of the fairways in the 2020 US Open. No doubt you are a great scrambler like Payne Stewart.
I would be thinning every shot if I tried to use my driver swing for higher lofted irons. I like to feel like I'm trapping the ball under the iron and its explodes out.
Driver swing I feel much more like I'm taking a nice wide smooth back swing and catching the ball on the upswing.
I use more of the driver swing the lower the iron, so depending on how much I need to hit up on the ball to make up for the lack of loft on the club.
I'm sure this is all due to 10 years of bad habits lol. Thanks for the videos!
Nice swing big guy
I agree with Jim Ryan's comments, You'd be awesome to play a round of golf with!
Matt, can you make a video covering ball positions for the entire bag?
For me, the take away difference is i extend the upper trail arm more with the driver. May be its the relation about the wide of the arch.
Oooh, did that 6 min driver end up in the woods or did you draw it back into the fairway? Lol Great info, thanks.
When he put the club down in front of him, he said "let's say I'm aiming here". I'm assuming he just hit it into the trees.
Hahaha “if you role your hands nothing will help you in all of golf”
White Colums is probably my favorite course ever....
Clay Ballard is going to be pissed at your claim you shouldn’t hit down with the iron hahaha
Hitting down with irons isn't a "myth" its the way to hit an iron. Some people sweep, some people dig a bit more but hitting down is 100% a correct way of doing it. Silly thing to say.
