    If your worried about traction loss from swapping in a fiberglass hatch why not take the hatch off the car and test the traction at the track. This way if it hooks you know a fiberglass lexon combo would definitely work.

    My Capri had SN95 brakes on it, and the spindle, rotor, caliper were 44lbs each side, now I have new edge spindles with aerospace technologies 10.65" 2 piece rotors and 4 piston calipers, and they are 30lbs each side. I made a lower rad core support from chromoly and it saved 6lbs, I cut up the factory metal bumper rebar and lost 11lbs there. I have tubular k member and control arms. and a manual steering rack which weigh a total of 58lbs, vs the stock k member, control arms and power steering rack that weighed 104lbs. My 15x3.5" weld wheels with mickey thompson front runners weigh 22lbs per side, vs my Stern 17x9 with a 255/40r17 witch are a hair under 50lbs per side. My factory Capri RS hood is 45lbs, I have a pin on hood that is 16lbs. my Kirkey seat and mount is 24lbs compared to a powered sn95 cobra seat with is damn near 50lbs. Then next thing I am going to do is grab an Anti Gravity battery, The weight for the size I am going to use is under 10 lbs and the battery I currently run is 44lbs. I am waffling on doing a tubular front end. I am not certain I want to go that far yet. I like having fender liners.

    This is a principle I learned from my father back in 1971. We would build V8PINTO at one point we had a curb weight of 2175 pounds 5.0 4 speed top loader 9inch 31 spline rear-end. Power to weight is hard to beat and a alot less breakage. Many being repurposed from other ford cars the mustang early 70s late 68 good fun.

    I wouldn’t recommend a fibreglass hatch. I fitted a Cervini and it doesn’t weigh much less than the steel one because it is so thick to keep the strength. You would save more weight by taking the glass out and putting a Lexan piece in. I’m taking mine off and going back to steel.

    • @Neomustangs
      @Neomustangs  Год назад +2

      That was my second idea with the hatch glass only. I know these hatch’s aren’t heavy at all no glass

    • @Diamondsintherubble
