I went to the Orlando location this past summer. We asked an employee that had been there for a while and he said that the moisture from the air pressure got into some of his electrical parts that were inside of him, and it sat there long enough to the point where fixing it would just be a nightmare. He also said that the company that made Mac went out of business a while back, so it's not like they are able to simply order spare parts to fix him with. Hopefully that settles the reason why he didn't move when you guys were down there visiting it.
So who would have to make the move to have the Mac refurbished? I think it's really cool that the contraction company had the other Mac refurbished. It may not move as fast as the hydraulics, but at least someone with a budget was able to take initiative in preserving joy lol
Typically pneumatics require "instrument quality air" that's free of moisture. Somebody may have bypassed the filter / drier at some point, if that's how his system worked. Where there's a will, there's a way.
tbh I doubt many even remember that, let alone anything legal could of expired by now. If he came back it would be seen as brand new, but even then they could redesign him. Regardless is far better and less creepy than happy the happy meal. *shivvers*
I think they should bring their whole cast of Characters back. It's nice to have a more "modern" styled restaurant, but you still need the novelty of why you visit a location
I think they slowly are. Otherwise, they wouldn't have celebrated Grimace's birthday, and apparently I heard some of their Pandora ads feature the Hamburglar. It's only a matter of time, I think.

Ah yes, Boca Raton, Florida...while proceeding to show the Soviet Union at 3:11 💀. I don't blame you for using that picture since it is a huge line at a McDonald's, though the line out the door at that McDonald's in Moscow was for a very different reason, it was the very first one in the Soviet Union that opened in 1990 at Pushkin Square. McDonald's entering the country was a symbol of Gorbachev's reforms. Approximately 38,000 customers waited for hours, breaking company records at the time! And it wasn't 2016 when McDonald's started changing their look, but rather around 2005 and 2006! Kongfrontation was the name of the former Universal Studios Florida attraction, King Kong Encounter was the Hollywood one that was part of the Studio Tour. Disney Imagineer Bob Gurr designed the original King Kong Encounter animatronic for Hollywood. For what Mannetron built in Florida, the animatronic used for the street sequence weighed approximately 13,000 pounds, while the bridge sequence animatronic weighed 8,000 pounds! Both Kongs that Mannetron built were on both analog and digital platforms, which resulted in the ability to perform 62 separate functions. And like Hollywood, banana-scented breath was added.

I don't see why they made him an animatronic in the first place, he seemed to do really good as a person in a costume just like all the other mascots. maybe to pay less people to play him?
I visited the Orlando location to see him only a few weeks before you had. A shame he doesn’t work but still cool to see him. The Orlando McDonald’s is pretty crazy in a lot of ways. Only place you can get McDonald’s pizza and pasta.
It’s funny you mention that because there used to be a stage at a local McDonald’s in my hometown that had an automatic playing piano. I never knew about Mac tonight, but now I wonder if that was because of him?
In September 2010, I remembered I saw a Mac Tonight animatronic at McDonald's while going on a holiday in Orlando, Florida, USA 🇺🇸 with my father and I was twenty years old in that year. I thought I never heard anything about Mac Tonight before in my whole life. Good morning from Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪
Here are some other cool McDonald's locations besides the huge one in Orlando: There's one in Porto, Portugal that opened on Avenida dos Aliados in 1995. Opened in 1995, the restaurant is located in a renovated space previously occupied by Cafe Imperial, a famous coffee shop that first opened in the 1930s. The coffee shop was seen as a prime example of Art Deco architecture of the period and, thus, McDonald's retained most of the main architectural features when it took over. Like how there's a giant bronze eagle by Portuguese sculptor Henrique Moreira. There's a McDonald's in Freeport, Maine inside the historic Gore House from 1850! Freeport allowed the McDonald's on the condition it kept the aesthetic in 1984. Another in New Hyde Park on Long Island is also inside a mansion, the Georgian-style Denton House that was at first a farmhouse in 1795 but became a Georgian mansion in the 1860s. Like Freeport, McDonald's was allowed to open and build a drive-thru on the condition that it renovated to restore the aesthetic. One in Sedona, Arizona is not only designed in an Adobe-style has TURQUOISE ARCHES! Why? Because the building had to adhere to Sedona's strict guidelines on building design and signage. While the bright-yellow color of a majority of McDonald's signs might work in other parts of the country, the turquoise color chosen by the Sedona, Arizona, location blends much better with the surrounding landscape.
i live very close to the one in porto, and although I do think that the art deco parts of the building that were kept are awfully nice, the mcdonnalds furniture and objects totally ruin it for me. If they had tried to adapt the style of their stuff to the building it would look much nicer imo!
I don't think they'll ever think about bringing the animatronics back for the same reason they're not bringing back the play places, video games, birthday parties, or the Ronald McDonald characters. They want to get away from the restaurant being a hang out spot, especially for families with kids. It's to much of a liability and a pain to maintain the play places, marketing that type of food to kids isn't accepted anymore, and they probably make more money by selling more food faster to people going through the drive through or leaving right away instead of sitting in the restaurant. In the future, I wouldn't be surprised if they started building restaurants that don't even have seating areas and are just automats. That used to be popular up until the 60's and I think it's going to make come back.
I definitely was old enough to remember Mac and the commercials,I also had a glass tumbler from McDonalds with him printed on it. I don’t remember any of the animatronics out here in the Bay Area so this was interesting to watch.
I live in hong kong, I still remember the time that mac tonight's become a major mascot of mcdonalds, he was like, my favourite mascot of all time as a kid I never liked the og mascot, I mean they are alright, but old and not that appealing, but when mac tonight's came out I was like "yo he is so cool" even though there's not any animatronics but the commercial got me, and when I'm eating mcdonalds I always just stare at the mc tonight's that's printed on paper table cloth
McDonald's Should bring him Back but they should try to give him some more original songs Or Just Have Him Actually Singing His Own Original Covers to avoid copy right With Music Sang by any one else Other Then Mac Tonight But Other wise It Would Be Nice And Fine As A Preformance At McD's ;3 !
I grew up in that era, but I never knew he was such a big thing. Or that he even showed up to McDonald's or an animatronic. Didn't happen at the McDonald's we were at. I thought he was just some moon man in a McDonald's commercial.
I never knew he had a name, but it was a special treat to go to Mcdonald’s as a kid in Minnesota and I loooooooved that piano moon man. Wow, what a trip down memory lane.
They should have repaired the hydraulics and switched the valves over to electronic... then they could keep the fast motion but still program with DMX or whatever they want to use.
I remember Mac Tonight sitting at a grand player piano at Stanford Shopping Center, Palo Alto, CA. By 2013 he was quietly retired 14 miles down the highway at the Augustine Drive McDonald’s in Santa Clara. Sitting happily at a piano by the parking lot door, but no longer performing.
You didn't mention that Mac Tonight in the commercials was played by legendary character actor Doug Jones, who's played creatures in Hocus-pocus, Hellboy, Pans Labrinth, What we Do in the Shadows and much more!
I don't remember these older animatronics, but I feel like I would appreciate Mac Tonight. I wish the old animatronics could come back, I feel like I missed out on a good era for McDonalds.
They should absolutely bring him back. They had one of these animatronics at the Stanford shopping center before they remodeled the mcdonalds. I never saw him performing.
There was one a couple years ago in a McDonald’s next to Potomac mills mall in Virginia. But I haven’t been in there since they remodeled to the new style, I’m guessing he is gone now, but he may still be there, I just know it really creeped me out when I saw it
They had a statue of Mac tonight at piano that played automatically at a McDonalds it Minnesota but it was taken out I think in early 2000s. Believe it was in Edina, MN off France Ave. The McDonald’s has since closed and it’s a Starbucks.
mcdonald’s cast was taken away (not the clown and a few others) because they didn’t pay the creators of the mascots money. that’s why we will never see the mcdonald’s gang.
We had one of these by my house on Long Island, I took a picture of it, I just checked my camera roll he was there feb 2020, they demolished the entire McDonald’s and rebuilt it from the ground up about a year ago, I went in but no more Mac tonight
I met Doug Jones a few years ago _ got two autographs from him - the faun & pale man from Pan's Labyrinth. but if I ever meet him again, I'm getting something Mac signed --- DINNA !!
8:10 Actually the redecorating would start in 2005 with most McDonald’s locations being renovated to have more modern mostly grey and white designs by the year 2010. They did that to our local McDonald’s in 2006 which was just nine years after it first opened.

Agreed. McDonald's is just way to corporate. The advertising and the establishments suck these days. So bland, and blah.

It’s Mac Toniiggghhhhhtttt!!!!!!!
when i see mac tonight i think of FNaF as there is a game called Five nights with mac tonight including a few more mc donalds characters
Interesting ass video. Thanks for this
Mac Tonight's character was said by Emplemon, Something Old, Something New, Somewhat Borrowed, and Somewhat Blue.
Is he sad?
Me seeing Roary the Lion:
*Whispering* …you’re an imposter…
McDonald's Should bring him Back but they should try to give him some more original songs Or Just Have Him Actually Singing His Own Original Covers to avoid copy right With Music Sang by any one else Other Then Mac Tonight But Other wise It Would Be Nice And Fine As A Preformance At McD's ;3 !
I grew up in that era, but I never knew he was such a big thing. Or that he even showed up to McDonald's or an animatronic. Didn't happen at the McDonald's we were at. I thought he was just some moon man in a McDonald's commercial.

OH MY GOODNESS
I never knew he had a name, but it was a special treat to go to Mcdonald’s as a kid in Minnesota and I loooooooved that piano moon man. Wow, what a trip down memory lane.
bring mac tonight back
Grimace and mac tonight are terrfying
They should have repaired the hydraulics and switched the valves over to electronic... then they could keep the fast motion but still program with DMX or whatever they want to use.
i like the fnaf vibes given
Great vid!
Stunning
You didn't mention that Mac Tonight in the commercials was played by legendary character actor Doug Jones, who's played creatures in Hocus-pocus, Hellboy, Pans Labrinth, What we Do in the Shadows and much more!
this may sound strange but...
HOTTEST FAST FOOD MASCOT????????
This ain't strange at all
Tf is wrong with you?
I don't remember these older animatronics, but I feel like I would appreciate Mac Tonight. I wish the old animatronics could come back, I feel like I missed out on a good era for McDonalds.
0:12 WAS THAT THE MAC OF ‘87?!?!?
They should absolutely bring him back. They had one of these animatronics at the Stanford shopping center before they remodeled the mcdonalds. I never saw him performing.
Love that great taste!🌜🎹🎶
Moonman Moonman can't you see...
Great video!
YES! I never knew he had a name! I grew up going to that location
Bring him back! Even if they had him working in one or two places, I would honestly put it on my bucket list to see him perform.
Lion looks crazy 😂❤
mcdonald’s cast was taken away (not the clown and a few others) because they didn’t pay the creators of the mascots money. that’s why we will never see the mcdonald’s gang.
We had one of these by my house on Long Island, I took a picture of it, I just checked my camera roll he was there feb 2020, they demolished the entire McDonald’s and rebuilt it from the ground up about a year ago, I went in but no more Mac tonight
Moonman Moonman can't you see
I was five years old when this character came out , I remember the commercials , it’s definitely part of the 80s nostalgic memories .
#BringBackMacTonight
They can't, because he was turned into an infamous racist mascot by the internet lmao.
I met Doug Jones a few years ago _ got two autographs from him - the faun & pale man from Pan's Labyrinth. but if I ever meet him again, I'm getting something Mac signed --- DINNA !!
It's amazing how much history is all around us.
Thanks for this
3:01 - the past REALLY was a different country!!!
I would love to see Mac Tonight work again or some how make a come back

Actually the redecorating would start in 2005 with most McDonald’s locations being renovated to have more modern mostly grey and white designs by the year 2010. They did that to our local McDonald’s in 2006 which was just nine years after it first opened.
So McDonald's got scared of a lawsuit that accuser couldn't win and replaced an awesome mascot with a..... furry...
