The reason for the disrepair was partly Odyssey’s fault but mostly Creative Engineerings, since they only had about two or three people who knew how to install. After ‘94 rolled around CEI stopped providing support and over charged for the majority of parts. The technology was still too new for its time and there were many issues with stoppers for the stage which would cause it to go out of sync or just continue spinning ripping the wires under the stage which led OFW Naperville to nail the stage down to prevent any more damage to their stage. Tinley park had a restoration attempt but ultimately failed as funds ran out relatively quickly.

I'm one of the lucky ones who grew up near the Naperville location. The characters always looked weirdly dressed to me as a kid and my favorite character was Loony Bird.
This is coming from someone who is a huge fan of both Rock afire Explosion and Chuck E Cheese shows, I highly agree with you. Aaron Fechter is always ahead of his time in term on developing and programming animatronics. The movements and personality he did for these characters are very highly sophisticated and have lot of depth to them. Aaron makes sure to put new ideas for the concept of animatronics to go even further, with ranging of being very interactive and advanced potential what they can do more to perform. CEC on the other hand, while has good animatronics(Not as phenomenal like what Creative Engineering did), rarely took a step above to do more with the concept. If anything, as time goes on, animatronics are taken off for televison screens and dance floor.
I have been to the tinley Park location 3 times! It's very fun, and when I went to go see the animatronics my mom was talking about the curtains were closed. I didn't find out until later that the animatronics were there.
4:80 -well, we do have some info about that “mysterious” show... that NRAE show was installed at Mampato Let’s Fun in the mid 90s, they were doing great until 2007 that’s when they started to deteriorate and since they didn’t had the biggest budget to repair the show a year later or so they decided to completely remove the mijins but the rest of the stage stayed intact! they used the former NRAE stage for some “fun” activities and so... that fun concept only lasted a few years t’ill they completely remodeled what used to be main attraction of the place with a modern bowling alley in 2010-ish. (side note: aaron also sent a NRAE show to a mexican Fun Time Pizza location.)
there was another public New RAE in Edina, MN at the 2-story Circus Pizza that used to be there (sadly bought out by CEC in ~2000). i grew up in the area and have very fond memories of that show, i wish i’d taken a few videos of it while i had the chance. i remember Circus Pizza became pretty run down in the late ‘90s, and the turntables and eyes for most of the animatronics in the show were either disabled or broken. if anyone knows what happened to that show i would love to know the details. sadly i’m betting it was scrapped, knowing how CEC usually does things.. another Circus Pizza (i believe in Blaine, MN) also had a 3 stage original RAE. that show was in much better condition despite being older. didn’t go to that location as much, but i remember the show very well.
Always would go to the edina and burnsville locations. Edina for the new RAE and Burnsville for the classic RAE. Kids these days all they get is screens. I hope someone revives the RAE animatronics with servos. the hydraulics upkeep was the major downside to repairing these things.
Back in 2019 my school was scheduled for a field trip for odyssey fun world that got canceled which sparked a outcry in the school because we hadn't been on any field trips when we had been promised 5 up to that point. If animatronics were kept up and parts were still being produced then it keep cost down just a little lower despite the huge production cost as parts for Chuck E. Cheese, the new Rockafire and old Rockafire would be less expensive to buy off of collectors and other restaurants because those parts aren’t produced anymore.
Great story. I could fill in some of the gaps for you. I was the GM of both locations for a period in the early 2000s. I refurbed the show and kept it running during my tenure. The problem is the show requires a lot of maintenance and was running on old technology (S-VHS tapes and an Apple 2E computer). The other problem was that the mfg Creative Engineering was basically out of business except for the originator. I was able to work out a deal with him to refabricate new masks for the characters. These are not cheap and over $1k each. They also do not last long - a few years and they develop rips and holes in them. It’s also a problem to get parts and we’d have to have a machine shop make them or pay the mfg tons to just go find them in his shop. Basically this show translated into tons of maintenance and costs to keep it going in a business that is slowly going out of style. The turntables never worked right. They were disconnected and locked in place because there was no mechanism to count how many times the turn table had spun before it would need to go the opposite way. Each character had 30 some cables and tubes going to them that have to move with the spins. Too much in one direction rips them all out of their sockets under the stage. We looked at upgrading the show at several points to a TiVo based system but again that was too cost prohibited. The next generations of management didn’t know how the show worked and didn’t bother keeping up on the routine maintenance. They finally decided to sell off both shows and the same guy bought both. The magic city show was slightly different then tinley park and napervilles. It was kept so a container in tinley park locations parking lot that we just used for parts to make the installed shows keep working.

Oye alobot oye oye AIO bot
Very interesting video. Like you said, the Wiki pages didn't seem entirely factual, so I'm glad you posted this video.
Why the creepy music though? Kind of ruins it a little bit.
fnaf music
The Naperville location after closing reminds me of the Wilmington NC location after closing, mainly for the fact that the sign is still up
An arcade in Memphis Tn called X-Cite had the New Rock-afire too somewhere around 94-95

I'm surprised Creative Engineering is still active to this day.
Thank god it’s still active. I love Rock afire Explosion and all other Creative Engineering shows. Aaron Fechter is honestly a genius.
Why did they get rid of Mitzi’s hair?
Did he use part of a FNAF soundtrack in the last few minutes of the video? I think from the Help Wanted VR DLC game..? I don’t know.. it sounded familiar.
I will bring it back. You have my word.
I like that I can see the the really old Animatronics
4:33 that clip is from Chuck E. Cheese
This is something cool stuff
Has anyone ever told you that you sound like Bill Hader?
Robot hola hola

Strike one was making Billy Bob do a workout. There is no Billy Bob without his fat.
I nicknamed new fatz geronimo as Bones geronimo
Hmmm and Circus Pizza is totally forgotten... They had one location with the NRAE.

I don’t know why I find a short skinny Billy Bob so disturbing.
I think these look stranger. They all have the exact same size and movements, and I think it's weird that their arms just kind of... twitch when they weren't doing anything. The old ones were better
5:11 I hate to be one of those types of people but it’s “Fecther”, not “Fletcher”.

@@ninjanoh7014 Now I realized I spelt it wrong as well. Whoops 😅
@@skelemama It’s ok. As long as you know it starts with an F.
Why Im getting some Chuck E Cheese and Animatronics videos on my recommendations and all that stuff Imao
What background music did you use for this?
Why is there FNaF AR music playing in the background?
animatronics with terrifying this will never sell in the UK
Hi I think the animatronics look scary but so far I would eat there it seems nice and calm other than other food places :3
Rainbow factory in the background is a nice touch 🤌🏾
Was he using special delivery theme song?
the fnaf 3 ambience. i’ve been to the naperville location it’s close to me. kinda creepy to see it rot away
Can you talk about other animatronic falls?
