There was no other reason for it to stop leaking other than it was out of oil. No amount of replacing seals on certain British engines will help, it leaks because it was built that way

It’s not as much about lubing the gears it’s more about pressure from the pump that sound you hear is the pump starving for fluid. As you increase engine rpms that spins the pump faster building pressure and the TCM uses that pressure by opening and closing solenoids for the 1-2 shift 2-3 shift and 3-4 shift if there’s no pressure you get no gear engagement

I have the same issue with 2002 camaro. I always do oil changes at 3k miles and just assumed Wal-Mart was keeping a eye on ally fluids. BAD idea to do something like that. My trans got low on fluid and quit pulling in reverse. I flipped it around and drove back into my drive way. Checked the fluid and it was low. Went got a quart I stored from another truck I had and poured it in and as i did that I noticed it was burnt fluid. So i parked my car. Went and got all new fluid and filter and did a complete change. Well the problem is still there and you can hear the pump winning as well. I did take the car down the road to test it out. The only way ot shifts is to let off the gas and apply it again. It only gets up to about 50 mph and at 2000-2500 RPM. The reverse still doesn't work either. I just parked my car. Is there anyway to het the pump primed back up or is the pump toast? My car only has 87k miles on her. Thanks for any information.

Hey cameron! Yeah It sucks.... Lol I feel like i lost a friend ha ha had that tahoe for 20 years. I don't want to pay to have it repaired because I don't drive it much. Most rebuilt transmissions eventually fail and only have a 1 year warranty. Easy way to throw away $3000 if you don't drive it everyday. You wouldn't know if there's still an issue either. So it's just gonna sit for a while. I may sell it or restore it eventually since 2 door Tahoe are becoming rare. I hope you can resolve your issue but sometimes cost wise it's better to just get another car depending on the shaoe.of your interior and paint. Gotta a 04 civic that has an issue where it wouldn’t move in any gear, just felt like it was in neutral but then randomly started to go into gear and worked fine for about a week, didn’t slip when I tested it down the road, drove fine. It worked like this for a week and then the issue came back, turned off the car when the issue came back, started the car back up after 10 seconds and the car went into gear fine. After testing the car for about 3 weeks it’s seems as if there is a 50/50 chance of the car moving but when the car engages drive or reverse it seems to work fine. Transmission has also developed a whining noise and occasionally the drive light blinks when shifting from drive into neutral. I suspect an issue with the transmission pump and intend to bring it to a shop but after watching this was curious as to if anyone has some advice on other possible issues and whether I should start looking for a good used transmission?

@@drewsquickfix Thanks for the advice and I will definitely subscribe but the fluid is the first thing I checked, even took it upon myself to do a fluid change In hopes it may lead to some improvement and buy me some time and it did seem to help a bit but in terms of the vehicle feeling like it’s in neutral and not moving it didn’t do much. Vehicle almost always goes into gear and works fine right after start and I’ve noticed the whining noise goes away after about 10 minutes of idle. Due to the fact the transmission itself seems to shift ok until the car randomly stops moving the fluid pump would be my best guess but I can’t say for sure so if I decide to repair the car I’ll probably buy a junkyard transmission with low miles as my car is higher mileage and Hondas automatic transmission are known to be problematic with higher mileage.

    • @drewsquickfix

Well if your transmission isn't working the truck isn't going to move. So no 4 wheel drive will not work if your truck won't move

@@drewsquickfix I've got a 99 Tahoe in my driveway now. This engine is out of a 97 Silverado, and has over 300k miles. I'm the Silverado it went through 3 transmissions while never touching the engine. Now that it's in mine, the engine died finally, and the transmission slammed. My trans has 180k. They fail often and have no real power. It's why my rebuild I'll be throwing in with a rv cam, may result in a 4l80, just so it can possibly handle a 350.

@@robvh1992 sometimes when a transmission is rebuilt it can be done improperly has nothing to do with the manufacturer. mechanics cheat when they rebuild transmissions not putting in the whole kit. Of course the first time you have a leak like I did its all over because runnign a transmission with no fluid destroys a transmission as you know! the original factory transmissions are the best!
