Someone sold me a car and 1 week later i noticed errtic shifting, slipping and eventually during the same day i had no forward gears, i was sold a car with worn out clutches in the transmission, car is a 2007 lexus RX350 and the transmission failed at 93,000mi fluid was very brown and dirty but not smelling bad and that was how i lost money and im still trying to find a way to either rebuild the transmission or buy a second hand one for reasonably cheap.
I bought my car in September 2023. The transmission has started going bad a month ago. I'm done with the private car ads! A car evaluation was done when I bought it. The mechanic did not see anything wrong with the transmission. Actually, I don't even know if he examined it...
@@DenisMorissetteJFK I checked it myself, there was nothing to suggest the transmission was bad or going bad, it just happened and I think that's what happens when the oil is never changed.

A truck I got ain't making any bad noises , reverse works but when I put some gas on it and put it in drive it doesn't want to go forward for a few seconds and youll feel it grab and it feels like something in the rear end/diff (93 dodge dakota)
My car does none of this. It drove shifts and accelerated fine. I was at a complete stop. I press on the gas the jerked forward one time and it stopped moving. Reverse and drive won't work I also hear clunking and grinding. I couldn't put into park until I turned off the car. I put into park and the car started rolling down hill.
Is it a Chevy? Make sure you change all your fluid out completely out but you could also kill it by doing that do your research. When it starts shifting hard if it's a Chevy turn it off turn it back on and then turn it off again and turn it back on and then drive it hopefully that will reset it and it won't slam into gear
None of this is happening with my car and the dealership still quoted me 9k to fix Chevy Equinox transmission. My check engine light is on but I can speed around just fine, I just can’t go up incline.
See about your 02 sensor. That can mess up your fuel ratio, and the reason you can't go up a hill is because there isn't enough fuel being sent to the engine to do so. I had this issue going up a hill when my car just died, I was worried my transmission blew, stranded on the side of the road. Towed my car home, put it down, and started it up. Went right into drive, reverse, no problem. Drove around town on flat ground and became convinced that something weird happened, and it was a one off. I had a mechanic buddy ride in it with me, and we 'concluded' it was something random. We decided to take it back up the hill, and had the exact same problem. Got a code reader from his house, connected it, and found that the only code reading was for my 02 sensor. We took it out, and there was a bumblebee in it. Somehow, it crawled up in there, and was sending false signals about how much fuel was being sent, meaning that my vehicle stopped sending fuel to the engine because it thought that I had too much fuel. Took the bee out, ran like a dream. Now, you could need to replace your 02 filter, or maybe it isn't that at all. But if your gears shift fine when you're driving in town, it's likely not a transmission. The hill, where you need more fuel to run the engine, makes me think you're having issues with an 02 sensor, fuel filter, fuel pump, or something of the like. I am not an expert, but this situation sounds ALOT like mine did.

I have no codes coming on for my transmission issue. I have only two of those you told us about: The RPM goes high, but no acceleration between 10 km/h and 30 km/h. In that case, I let go of the accelaration pedal to leave the chance to the car to change gears. After 3 seconds, I am able to accelerate more. Again, I let the acceleration pedal go, and it goes in the next gear. The second issue is some burnt transmission fluid. What do you think?
@@DenisMorissetteJFKchange the trans fluid for sure. If the problem went away then there’s not much anyone can do to diagnose it barring removing and disassembling the transmission.
@@brain240sx Another issue appeared. The cross members at the back needs to be changed. The frame underneath is very rusted. I’m driving it very carefully and softly until it will be completely finished maybe next year. My friend told me it’s not worth spending a dollar of mechanic on it.
@@DenisMorissetteJFK if the frame is super rusty then your friend is right, definitely not worth putting money into it. Unfortunately if it’s that far gone then there is no repairing it. You can replace the crossmember and even the subframe but if the frame rails are significantly rotted the money would be better spent finding another car of the same make and model that’s in better shape and swapping parts over as needed. The good thing about that is you’d have a surplus of parts available for any issues that may arise in the future.
I have a hyundai sonata 2006 4 cylinder, the transmission work ok cold and once warm the transmission slips when starting from a stop sign, also at times while on the road it doesn't shift into overdrive and makes a clunking sound but I slow down or stop and restart it works again. All fluids are OK. Should I have the fluid changed and filter. Help I can't afford another car but transmissions aren't cheap
I bought an ‘09 ES350 few months back with 360K kms on the odometer. I got it properly inspected before the deal. The guys spent good 1-1.5 hours inspecting inside out and test driving it. They told me the transmission was opened at some point but the car shifted perfectly, no issue whatsoever. After a few weeks of ownership, I started having a delay and a jerk when shifting between P & D or R & D, usually when I’m parking. Other than that there is slight vibration while accelerating between 20-40 kmph speed. Rack & pinion need to be replaced, so I’m suspecting it could just be the front end. Fingers crossed! I hope I can have a decent mileage out of it before it breaks down on me. It’s a Lexus, so I’m a bit optimistic. 🤞🏽
i don’t really notice any of these but when i’m coming to a stop my car drops a little below 500 rpm and almost stalls, but if i put it in neutral while coming to a stop i don’t notice anything which makes me think it’s the trans.. it’s a newer jetta with only 50k miles please help

I think the shop changed my fluid and it got 215000 miles and after I got it back it slippes when try to excellorate fast to get into the freeway but if i drive like a old lady it's works fine unfortunately I don't have a lot of money because my job doesn't pay much but if it's the transmission im going to be really mad because i have never had problems with my car until i brought it to the mechanic only because I didn't have a lift to replace my battery cables which damaged my altinator unfortunately.

Most likely the valve body, the good news is the transmission doesn’t need to be removed for valve body repair, the bad news is many shops will not be willing to do the job or suggest a full rebuild and if they agree to it they will charge ALOT
The stalling of the engine is probably from the torque converter but that doesn’t mean the torque converter is bad for certain, issues in the valve body can cause the torque converter to be starved of fluid when put into reverse engaging the torque converter clutch and stalling the engine, also make sure you have enough trans fluid in there low fluid can cause this too.
My 2010 Chevy cobalt is having a misfire on cylinder 2, car shakes, check engine light flashes and then stays solid, aswell as service traction comes on with the flashing check, I’ve replaced all 4 spark and ignition coils 3 months ago and haven’t had any issues until now, anyone have any idea? Sometimes in park it will shake and sometimes not, while driving above 40 or so feels like it jolts forward sometimes, any ideas? Thanks
Did u fix? Just fixed a misfire in cylinder 1 but my drive today felt weird. But before this I had an issue where while driving throughout youll feel the like the vehicle is pressing brakes like its holding the wheels. Then the rpm needle would flicker up to 2 then go back down. I’m really worried.

Im thinking about purchasing a 2013 caravan (3.6litr v6) with a 135KM the van has been owned by one owner, who did regular maintenance on it...i've been reading up on them and everyone has mixed reviews but from what i've read the 2013's have a lot of transmission problems anyone have experience with this? anything else to look out for? I did do a test drive and it seemed fine but I was only going about 50/70 km around the city, I did floor it and didn't notice any stuttering or anything of such, however the owner did say when he puts it in "ECO MODE"' he notices a slight change with the transmission shifting and that it takes awhile to pick up in speed? something along the lines of that, I didn't really understand that but is that normal? I plan on taking it to an mechanic to get it checked out so hopefully everything will be good! THANK YOU!

Yes change out the Trans fuild it can't hurt and it could fix the problem.
Especially if you haven't changed the Trans fuild in awhile.

When I go reverse downhill, it revs real high but won’t go reverse at all. Would that be a trans problem? I get code p1259

Correct. It's risky changing transmission fluid at that mileage. It can cause more damage than good.

I took good care of my car, did my daily maintenance oil changes, kept my transmission fluid topped off, and engine oil it's a kia serento 2008
So the symptoms I'm having in my car is that when I downshift in Manuel mode as I slow down my car berks forward and rhe rpm kicks up to 1 thousand

Yes if the leak is slow. Make sure to add transmission fluid before you go the the auto shop.

im experiencing exactly what you described as transmission slipping, in my 2013 ford mustang :( The mechanic is recommending to replace because he says first gear is going bad. Is this the way to go or is there a way to fix it??

Is it my transmission if I hear almost a grinding noise at low gear when I pass through 1600 RPM. I only hear it at that rpm for a short time. Like .5 to 1 second
If your hearing grinding it’s very likely it’s from your transmission

Hey bro my car shifts a little slow from first to second at slow acceleration. I don’t really notice at high acceleration but wondering if some slight ~150rpm increase before shifting is normal ?
Same here. I have to let go the accelaration pedal to let the car go in the next gear.
