Seriously, Adam, you are the BEST golf instructor on the internet!
That’s very kind of you Josh
Thanks, Adam
Excellent advice about what kind of shot you are comfortable with.
Thanks Peter.
All the best, Adam
Really appreciate the strategic angle, and helping us think through different scenarios we may encounter!
Thanks for the comment Martin.

Most sensible, thorough, concise presentation of this part of the short game I seen so far (there may be a few UK golf vloggers should watch this too! 😂) 👍🏌🏆
Thanks very much!
All the best, Adam
Very helpful. Great lesson for my skill level.
Thanks Rory.

Love all your videos, but currently struggling with short game, and this was an extremely efficient video with lots of great information in a short amount of time. Thanks, Adam!

Great tip Adam, both techniqe wise but the best part is the One about strategy! Thanks!
Thanks Magnus, glad you liked the video.

Great explanation of strategy and the pitching and chipping options. Well done as always, thanks, Adam.
Thanks very much Ralph.

One of the most helpful ever. I like the 7 iron idea. I've been using a 9 - relatively new to the game.
Glad you found it helpful Mary.
All the best, Adam
Such superb videos here. I’m new to your channel and have learnt so much. Real stuff that works. Subscribed and getting so much out of your content. Thank you.
thanks very much for the content.
All the best, Adam
It works a charm 😎👍
glad to hear it Rosemary.
Thanks, Adam
Great advice!
Thanks Mark.

Good points you make. Even Phil that you mentions is recommending in his book to use bump and run whenever possible.
Thanks very much Jarmo.
All the best, Adam
Another excellent, clear easy to follow video from ao outstanding teacher.
Thanks very much Alan.
All the best, Adam
Very thoughtful presentation of these concepts. It's easy to get so bogged down in trying to perfect one's technique that we can forget to question whether it's even the right technique to use in a given situation. I personally will be going for more bump-and-run type shots in scenarios around the green in the future, if I can. You're right, it's the easiest degree of difficulty and presents the lowest risk in a lot of cases.
Thanks for the comment Tom.
All the best, Adam
Fantastic video. I really learned something from this. Thanks for posting it.
Thanks Gary, glad you liked it.
All the best, Adam
Thanks
Thanks for watching.
Best, Adam
cant wait to try this, i am a new golfer, i do tend to use a 9 iron for more run
Hope it goes well for you Tom.
All the best, Adam
Great advice. When i started learning golf. My coach would make us practice with the pitch on hills and over traps.
Thanks for the comment Carlos.
Best, Adam
Great video Adam once again..i have been working on that for a few weeks now..I still like the 62 for most shots ..but still trying to get my hands to end at the target ..really like the 9 iron for some shots too..thank Adam
Thanks very much Edward.

Have been looking at the different courses a lot Adam and going back to the Fundamentals course when I realise something I've been doing wrong, then it makes more sense. New app is great aswell. Fair play to you 👍 John from Ireland.
Thanks very much John, and glad you like the app.
All the best, Adam
Great video once again Adam! Hope you are safe down in Naples
Thanks very much John, you too.
Best, Adam
Another great video Adam, I try to use the bump and run with the rule of 12 whenever possible although my chipping is getting better I get nowhere near close as with a chip and run. This is a great video and I’m now a member of your short game and master course which I compliment you on Adam. Mike from Hampshire
Thanks very much Mike!
All best wishes, Adam
Great tip Adam! Taking some of the unnecessary risk out of my shot. Thanks!
Glad you found it helpful Michael.

I started using the 7 iron around the greens with stunning results. This is a great tip you have given.
Thanks, and glad you are having success.
Best, Adam
Great video! I try and chip every chance I get. I will only pitch from 15-20 yards or more, I just like chipping better, I like keeping my shots low, for me its the safer option.
Thanks for watching.
Best, Adam
That scary pitch over the bunker! I've been trying to practice using 50deg but totally agree for my skill level a 7 iron makes more sense
Thanks Keith.
All the best, Adam
Subscribed! How important/necessary is it to open the stance slightly when chipping ? I understand that doing so reduces lower body movements and therefore error.
Thomas,
Thanks. Regards the stance, I agree with what you say, it’s optional though.
All the best, Adam
Can you do a similar video for the same sort of shots from the rough around the green.
I'll try to get to that George.
Thanks, Adam
Should the handle of your driver be a little up versus setting up with an iron where your hands are hanging more straight down?? Thanks great videos 👍😃🏌🏼
Dennis,
I prefer to see the hands lower with the driver.
All the best, Adam
For chipping, the club selection is based on lie and degree of difficulty up slope? Use a 7 through 9 for chipping?
Patrick,
There are a number of variables, including personal preference.
All the best, Adam
I think Gary player once said... go high you’re in the sky... go low you’re in the dough! I love a bump and run. I’ll only play a flop as you suggest when behind a bunker or trees. If you thin a flop shot you’d be as well hitting a 3 wood how far it goes!
Thanks Daniel.
All the best, Adam
I'm a high handicapper , this tip will take 3-5 stokes off a round by itself. Why would I think that I should copy the pros I see on TV and use a pitching wedge when I don't need to ? In the same way as I can't hit a drive 300 metres or more, I can't reliably hit a pitching wedge. Also , the golf courses I play are set up a lot easier than the ones the pros have to negotiate. I'll use a 7 iron whenever I can and practice a lot to improve my pitching wedge for when I really need it.
Thanks John, and I hope it works well for you.
All the best, Adam
I've seen something called the rule of 12 when choosing a club around the greens. Where the distance that we want the ball to carry onto the green is paced off vs the roll out distance to the hole. So if there is 3x the paces of roll out vs the carry, subtract that from 12 for a 9 iron chip and run. Any thoughts on this?
Guidelines are fine, but things like green speeds, slope etc can drastically skew these formulas.
All the best, Adam
@@Scratchgolfacademy agreed. Thank you
Would like you to have explained how far to land each type of shot one yard on, half way etc. otherwise very good.
Thanks Chuck.
Regards landing spot, it varies a lot according to green speeds, and several other factors. Don't mean to be dismissive.
All the best, Adam
Pick the one which gives you best %,
Thanks for watching the video
if i put my weight forward i will hurt my back, can you give any advice on that
Maybe a little more knee flex, but the problem is likely more in your swing than set up.
Al the best, Adam
Adam, with golfers reaching in the cup to retrieve their ball over and over through the course of a day, how much of an impact does them stepping close to the cup does it have on the way a putt will break right at the hole? As we all know sometimes your ball takes a odd turn near the cup. Thanks for the videos.
Glad you like the videos. I've seen different opinions on that, but doubtless if the greens are soft there would be a bit of a donut effect as the day goes on.
All the best, Adam
When I'm practicing with no pressure, I chip like Mickelson. When I'm playing, I chip like Mark Hagen.
I hear you there Mark!
Best, Adam
If I punch my 8 iron on the green it works better than a wedge for me
Sounds good, stick with it.
All the best, Adam
Wonder what the 9 at South Seas looks like these days.
Haven't been there in years James.

One thing I always make sure of is having a good lie 😉
It certainly helps!
