Its probably the ribbon cable going to the laser. Sometimes they lose their rigidity and start raising up and hitting the disc. It was super common with ps2. Use some clear packing tape and wrap it around the ribbon to keep it more rigid under the disc area.
I have the same problem with my hard drive. I tried opening and restarting my hard drive. it didn't work. I had a lot of files. how can i restore it. I have been keeping my broken hard drive for 5 years🙌
I have same sound but when i open it it is very soft and no damage on the disk ... Can i fix it

This isn‘t a crashed head, it straight up looks like someone hit the platter multiple times with a screwdriver while it was spinning. Trust me, I have done so.
Some but not all. The data on the areas physically scratched off is gone forever, but the unaffected areas could be recovered if the disk was sent to a data recovery company.
the repair cost base on the what size u purchase if I'm not wrong because the technician repair this kind hard drive it need to take a long time to read ur all files and u need brought a new one to copy into it from faulty hard drive
I tried recovering the drive itself, since data was mostly gone but for some small files. I tried partitiong the good sectors from the bad. Ended up with 70 partitions. I threw it out after.
I have this problem and more I found black powder in the hdd everywhere and the top disk looked like it had some watermarks even though it was completely dry I don’t know what and how to fix that now
My Seagate 500gb HDD is the same. But I have another Seagate 80gb Hdd and it is still normal. Can I do something to make my Seagate 500gb to become normal ?
Nope. Those very visible track marks on the platters there are visible damage to the magnetic material on the platters. When a head crashes like this, the areas physically affected are basically destroyed, in fact you can see some of the 'dust' in the bottom of the disk enclosure - that's particals of the scraped off magnetic materials.
possibly. if you have important data on a drive that has crashed heads like this, stop using it and send it to a data recovery company. They'll tear the drive apart, and remount the platters on a different drive to attempt to recover data.
@@2GuysTek i asked cus i punched my lap tom in posision were is hard disck and now my lap top is sayin things like :Automamic reper, Diagnosing your pc and other stuffs like that
I would highly recommend you reach out to a hard drive recovery company to see if they can recover your data. In a situation like the one we show in the short, if your drive is being destroyed by the heads, DO NOT POWER the drive! Package it up safely and ship it off to a company that can pull the drive apart and (hopefully) recover some of your data!
This is what my DVD RW drive sounds like when I try to read a Dead DVD

1:56 are these disks dangerous at all?
Long story short I opened the same hard drive but it shattered into a thousand pieces right in front of me
The sweeping motion that the head is making sounds familiar, like the drive is indeed trying something in a futile manner
These shorts are good for the channel
We'll see! We still haven't figured out what the value of a RUclips Short is yet to a creator. What are your thoughts on them?
I just had a drive at work that had its heads ground off. platters had waves on them from plastic deformation.
RIP

Try running scandisk. Hopefully, bad sectors are bypassed. If the reading head is damaged, then a data recovery specialist is required.
Oh boy those heads don’t park onto the ramp right.
Thanks, I was wondering.
🛑🛑 Hey Bro , If I had a broken head problem then the rotating disc will stop even after having power supply .
Am I correct ?
Depends on how things fail internally and how the drive detects the issue.
No wonder it's dead you opened it up!
That scratch concerns me

I've seen a 15k RPM SAS disk head crash and it looked much worse than this.
I’ve seen a few of these in my day. It’s not fun to see it happen…
My grandpa be like: ohh it's my favourite music player
Disc refinisher cool
oh.. the situation is familiar.. I had to buy not a HDD, but an SSD
Looks more like vinyl to me 🥹
Both the disks and vinyl records are commonly referred to as "platters".
head shaft are down... need to buy new heads or try with old drives..
Can we recover data from this?

This is what mine sound like!! No hard drive found. Is this the reason??
Bro my hard disc this problem my data recovery possible or not possible

Definitely not possible. It’s already scratched. Done for.

Nope you can't do any thing unless you buy new one
Same thing is happening with my HDD, any Idea how I can recover in on my own
Sadly it's unlikely you'll get your data off of it if the heads crashed like ours did.

Probably not. That’s the death of a hard disk.
The perfect loop doesn’t exi-
Can you show the wiring
Can't you just replace the actuator arm and get it to work again?
