Did you ever find anything? I bought a 99 Magna (baffles removed by previous owner), and I'm noticing lower RPM lag due to the carb running too lean now. All forums say to rejet carbs after you remove baffles or go with clear flow exhaust. Just curious!
All that bunk about back pressure has been proven wrong. Old mechanics believed this very often. Going from regular exhaust manifold, to different styles of headers, proved the exhaust flow characteristics and can be shown on the dyno. Don’t buy snake oil. Nice bike. Thank you for the video!!
My baffles were already breaking loose and rattling and it was driving nuts. So I I did this to my bike and it sounds awesome. Don’t care about losing some power becuase I don’t beat on it but I love the way it sounds and my Harley friends love the distinct sound.
Dude you really helped me out with this video! So glad I didn't spend $800 on pipes when 15 minutes I had all the baffles out and it sounds just as good.
@r meeker...if the baffles are out on your bike and it doesnt run well you might need to rejet carb.go up a size if you want to keep baffles out.but if you do want to put baffles back in the youll be fine should be no need for rejet
I've been highly contemplating on doing this to mine. A few videos show the cross flows being pinched off in different ways. But doing this, they claimed that it doesn't mess up the back pressure. I havent found anything (short of personal talking to a certified Honda mechanic) that it will mess it up. I am wanting to take out the center piece, but leave the flange riveted in. I think it might give it a twang sound though. Still not sure. Kinda of like it quiet
Just wondering, if you want a motorcycle that sounds like a pos harley, why not just buy the pos harley? The Honda magna is a street cruiser and shouldn't be that loud. Nothing wrong with a deep throaty sound but to be obnoxiously loud is so pos harley.
did you have to rejet after doing this? i have a 94 and the baffles are tack welded on.i was thinking about removing baffles but dont really want to rejet,as i just repainted bike few days ago and trying to avoid any major work as to not risk scratching paint,as it isnt 100% cured.so if just removing baffles is a rejet nessisary?
May sound nice but open pipes (like dragpipes) are generally bad for performance other then at wide open throttle. I've seen bikes with open pipes with big torque curve dips at mid rpm ranges due to the lack of back pressure. Air cleaner, carbs/jetting, valves, cams and pipe are one system put together in right combination. With increased airflow you may have to rejet your carbs. Increased airflow can make the air fuel mixture go lean resulting in hotter heads and cylinders which can lead to damage. If the original air filter is somewhat restricted it may prevent much more air to enter preventing a lean mixture but I sure expect performance to get worse due to the lack of back pressure.
I was looking at Cobra pipes, but wasn't impressed! They only have the slide on rear mufflers for Magna 750 V45s.. Jardine has some nice full pipes, but they are not cheap. I think I am gonna try this technique bro. I'm convinced. I am not concerned with setting any speed records anyway, I just slow ride. What do you think about grinding off the flange on the end where the rivits fastened to? I wonder if that would give it a cleaner and lower pitch to the pop and rumble? What do you think?
Back pressure is a complete fucking myth, however you should rejet the carbs to a bigger jet size after doing this modification otherwise it will run lean. Also recommended a more free flowing air intake to make it run better
If you still have the baffles I'd buy them, my bike sounds good but complete loss of performance. I bought it this way and need to go back to stock, but don't have the parts.
And here I am desperately searching for a video on how to reconstruct the baffles

Me too

Did you have to mess with the jets or the carb?
It's great! in my country tunned pipes $1500+. Thanks a lot, man

I grind out those plates in the inside lip there on the end, and now that there is more air flow the carbs should be rejetted
Jardine is the way to go if you can find a set of drags! Best sounding pipes for the bike!

TrOyLE3.......i used a hammer and a long homemade chisel. On top of that i cut the pipes and removed the mufflers from the front
why have you done that?
So it sounds cool and doesn't sound like a dad bike

aperently its better to do so or youll have some rpm lag
Just taking out a few rivets completely changes the sound with less compression lost
@daniel bean youre saying it will get more hp if i pull the baffles?
@daniel bean wouldnt that mean the carbs were off to begin with? I would love to make my magna louder.
@daniel bean oh ok nvm. I wanted to make it louder without having to rejet.

Do you still have the baffles and plates? I am looking to buy some.
I completely gutted my stock exhaust on my 96 and it sounds like a beast
Kenneth Parrish how would one go about that
Not about the power loud pipes save lives and it's fun making people's ears bleed while you ride by. Lol
Could you easily put them back in?
Mine is like that.will this affect its performance in hard starta?

Can anyone tell me what tool he used to take out the screws
Did you rejet?
I agree, and most mechanics will tell u it's not even better performance when u take baffles out, lol
@HarleyDavidsonRockz you are making fun b/c of the gloves. you see his table cloth
The bike now sounds like a TIGERRRRR ))
you do lose horse power , maybe 10 % It does sound real LOUD though I cut mine off , then slid them back in for the maximum HP
I have used it for 2 years without any problems but after the air filter is replaced at the service , the engine stalls until it reaches 5000 rpm
sync your carbs, rejet too
bike sounds confused

Will removing the baffles mess up the motor? The Back pressure will be messed up wont it?
it will probably run a little lean. But you can always change you carb jets.
If you still have the baffles I'd buy them, my bike sounds good but complete loss of performance. I bought it this way and need to go back to stock, but don't have the parts.
Great! Thanks for the post.
Harga brapaan tuh...??
Well, you ruined those unavailable pipes...
Running lean now
Rejet
Норм!
That looks like garbage.. Maybe you should of left them in.
Do you still have the baffles and plates? I am looking for some.
