KISS 1979 Dynasty Tour Capital Center Laurel, MD. My very first concert I was 9 years old front row center stage my Aunt Sam won the tickets from DC 101. So yes I can relate metal dad it changed my life I’m still playing to this very day. 🤘
Cool story’s, Metal Dad 👍🤘 Ace Frehley is my Rock-God!🤘⚡️🤘 Like you I saw him for the first time in makeup at the reunion tour in Oberhausen/Germany. And he really nailed it - by far the best musician on the stage.🤘🎸⚡️ Saw him before Solo in Cologne/Germany (Just for fun tour) and many times more in Europe - always great. Later the Psycho Circus Tour and the “Farewell-Tour” with Kiss - always great performances by the one and only spaceman….. I could write on and on….🙈😎🤣 But now Kiss isn’t Kiss anymore and Gene and Paul created Avatars and they forgot the original Members completely and other members also…what a shame! But Ace keeps on rocking…. I’m looking forward to his new album “10000 Volts”🤘⚡️🤘⚡️ Thanks for sharing your memories with us!👍🤘👍 Keep on rocking….🤘 Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪👍🤘
I was16 at the time in 1979. My oldest brother told me he bought to tickets to see kiss and Judas priest. At that time. I loved both bands. Judas priest only got to play 30min or so. Both bands kicked ass that night. This concert took place in Knoxville,tn .at the civic coliseum. I felt sorry for you. That you didn't get to see kiss on that tour. I love your channel. I could hangout with you for hours. To hear you play rock from the 70s and 80s. Peace out brother.
Loved the stories my friend! I'm just a little older (59) so I got to see the Rock-N-Roll Over and beyond era live! I too was was just bitten by that Rock-N-Roll bug! When I was 14 the youngest guy in my band was 23! I was a professional musician and professional audio engineer in Hollywood and Las Vegas for 45 years after that! On stage my persona was Paul Stanley and my playing was Ace Frehley! I love your channel! It brings back only the good memories! God bless and take care...
Thanks for the background. My first show was 10/02/1979 in St Louis. I was in school so my mom bought tickets for my (my money, $9.50). It's sweet your mom got you tix later on. Ace is my favorite as well and the magic isn't the same without him. Hopefully they get Ace an avatar as well (along with groupie avatars). Now were talking. Took my daughter to her first KISS show in 2019. Long live the spACEman.
My first rock concert, unless you can count Elvis, was December 11 1977: KISS & AC/DC "The Show Of Shows" - Market Square Arena - Indianapolis Indiana... What a show! I remember it like it was yesterday.
My first KISS show was for the Alive II tour at the infamous Hollywood Sportatorium in South Florida. I've been to a lot of concerts in my lifetime, but nothing compares to the amazing stage set of that show! It was a General Admission show, but somehow, we got pretty close to the stage. Close enough to feel the heat from the flame throwers! The next day, my best friend and I skipped school and rode our Yamaha dirt bikes at a cycle park that had been closed for a few years (we snuck in). Good times!
As an obsessed Kiss fan kid, I never got to see them in the 70s either for various reasons, but made it to the reunion in 96. In hindsight, they might have been as good as ever with the original four. Peter and Ace were cleaned up and playing great. They were all on the honeymoon again. Paul's voice was still strong. Super cool that your Mom got you the tickets. Some great stories. Thanks for sharing!
First saw Kiss during the Dynasty tour, 1979, on Long Island. Judas Priest, was the opening act. Next time I saw them was almost 40 years later in 2019.
Hey,just watched this video and heard your from Louisville KY.I'm from KY also.I was at the KISS concert back in 79 at Freedom Hall.I was 17 then. I also saw them on the reunion tour in 1996 at Freedom Hall.I enjoyed the video just like all the rest.I never went to any of their non makeup shows. After Ace and Peter left for good I didn't go see them anymore.Ace was always my favorite.
I never got to see them either and later did not care to. It started for me with Alive and I went through till the individual albums. I also had the Ace album as it was the BEST. I blew liquid lighter fluid just like Gene and ended up burning a lot of hair (I had a lot then) and receiving minor burns around my mouth that made my hockey mask painful to wear that weekend. I followed the last show and was not surprised that Gene and Paul would try and make MORE MONEY once they ended the live shows.
This has been one of my favorite videos of the year! I definitely envy you at this point. I never got to see kiss, but they have been by far my favorite rock band of all time. I’m almost positive that the first time I saw them, though, was on HBO. I’ve not research this at all but I remember I was no more than 12 or 13 maybe. I do remember them being on TV though. I’m only a couple of years older than you, but I am trying to the time to learn some tunes on the electric guitar.
Seen your videos before and enjoyed them. Just became a subscriber. Didn’t know you were a neighbor being a southern Indiana boy. I seen Kiss for the first time at Freedom Hall with an unknown band making their North American debut. A band called AC / DC. What a great show. I I believe it was the Kiss Alive ll tour.
I first saw KISS in 2019 when I was 15 at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, and then I saw them again for their last shows at the Garden. Best show ever, easily
That show with Aerosmith headlining were the beginning of the end of the Reunion tour. Frehley thought that idea was just as freaking insane as the rest of us long-timers. Saw them live the first time in '80, on the Dynasty tour with Iron Maiden warming up, but my first Kiss record was 'Alive!'
I was 10 in 1975. KISS, HOTTER, DRESSED, ALIVE, DESTROYER, R&R OVER, LOVE GUN, and ALIVE II were it for me. All the other albums are not on the top shelf level of these first 8 albums. They are the soundtrack of my 70’s memories. I was at the Tiger Stadium reunion show. 🤘
Same here my friend ace solo first LP I ever bought with my pocket money and still love that LP as it sounds like kiss way more than the outhers I like Peter to but for different reasons they lost me after dynasty witch ironically was the LP that broke the band in my country so we had all these LP s to go back through it was great I still was huge fan up to the elder and creatures peace and love lloydy
1996 reunion tour 4 nights at MSG NY. I went opening night and closing night. With my best friend who first introduced me to kiss in 1977! We were hugging and crying!!! The best shows I ever saw! I too never saw them in make up. Saw Animalized and Made in the shade. Didn't compare! Saw them again in 2004. Honestly it was getting a little silly by then, but I'll always have those 1996 shows.
GREAT stories! As a kid I could never afford to see them. Later on in life my wife and me, bringing up a family paid buttloads for meet and greets a few times for our sons. Plus concert tickets. We've since seen them 5 or 6 times. Here's the thing, some people bitch about how much the tickets cost. You're not merely seeing a show, you're going thru an experience. Countless techs have to be paid, set up and tear down crews have to be paid. Drivers have to be paid. Tour buses are rented,as is the stage.Fireworks.... Those cost a bundle, plus the pyrotechnicians. The special effects techs. Plus many more. But with every show you get your money's worth.Geddy Lee from Rush once said they're the hardest working band in show business. How true, you truly get what you paid for.
Great journey. Great story. No regrets being a KISS fan since 1975. Those early years when them mystique was in full force hit all the sweet sports for a red blooded American kid!
I saw them Live here in Sweden 1976 as a 12 yearOld at Gröna Lund, and later 1980 at Eriksdalshallen with IronMaiden as Opening act...My life went on and begun to listening to Maiden/Motörhead/Slayer/Metallica. But i get your feeling how i was thinking every time there was a Kiss album on the way..Whats in it this time.. I had all their Albums in Original until Creatures of the Night that was the last a bought.. I came over their (was it Marvel?) comic book that today is worth a lot of Money..But you know as a youth you dont think of those things.. At the consert 76 my "friend" got the smashed guitar from Paul and my other "friend" got a Drumstick from Peter..And there i stod with some Confetti in my hair that i saved in a matchbox but like everything else disapeared throug the years...Felt a Sadness and a Emptiness when i saw their Consert 2/12 from MSG (on YT) and they went of the stage... They have always and will always be a BIG part of my life with a LOT of Memories... My Mother Died in Cancer 2009 and was always supporting me and my Musicstyle , but she had a Crusch on PaulStanley, She said He looks so Sexy with his Hair on his Chest..I went into the Roof every Time and told her..NO YOU DON´T!!!!!... She bought me Something that was called "the Originals" one time with their First 3Albums and a lot of Cards/pictures/things, but like everything else it Dissapeared over the years.. What a ride it´s been..Love Kiss and always Will , it feels like they always been in my life..❤ Paul From Sweden.🙏🤘❤
Saw them in 76 and 77 when I was 15 and 16. That was in Omaha. Records are unclear which tours those were. Just found my crappy Polaroids today. But you can still see them. Got 3 good pics of Gene with one shooting fire. Then one pic of Aces smokingguitar. Still trying to find my tickets with 76 being a stub and 77 untorn because we rushed the doors.
Your recollection about Aerosmith following KISS reminded of a show I was at a few years back, where Deep Purple followed Judas Priest! Don't get me wrong, Deep Purple are great and gave a great performance that night. But, following Judas Priest?? Not the best sequencing of bands, in my opinion! Lol. Anyway, thanks for sharing, Metal Dad! 🤘
Did the Eagles shoot rockets out of their guitar NO!😅i love it Zenith wow we had a Zenith t.v. growing up me and my husband love ur channel rock on brother!
I must be close to your age because I remember these same times and similar age hah! I finally got to see them during the Dynasty tour and boy was that a let down ( I was about 13 ). They came out in those puff & stuff costumes and there were a shit ton of empty seats too, pretty sad… Since then I saw them a few more times including their reunion tour @ MSG which was a good show. Just saw them now again @ MSG on their second to last show and Paul’s voice was pretty brutal, then Singer doing Beth just seemed wrong. Paul’s kid opening up for the band also seemed pretty cheesy too, lastly, it would’ve been nice if the original members would’ve showed up to do a few songs as well but as we all know that just wasn’t in the cards either.
I've seen Kiss although not a huge fan a friend of mine killed kiss for me lol he was obsessed but they do have a hell of a stage show one of the best I've seen, it was actually Randy Rhoads who got me playing guitar I've never seen him I was young I was 10 years old when he died my parents wouldn't let me go wasn't for the lack of trying though lol unsurprisingly my mom was a black Sabbath fan but wouldn't let me see solo Ozzy my first Ozzy show was the ultimate sin tour Metallica opened up great great show.
Yep. I was able to take my sons on this last tour and they put on a hell of a show. Peter and Ace blew their chance with booze and coke. Ace plays like like a 5 year old these days. Ace remains my reason for picking up the guitar. I’ve loved EVERY era.
When I was in Iraq I would always play the song War Machine before we would go out on patrol.

The 1970s were PARADISE! Heaven on Earth! KISS was a huge part of that Heavenly Paradise.

Dude, you are so honest and so cool. Thank you! We're prob 20 years off but dude the honesty. Life used to be cool man!
It’s very nice to listen to you talk about your experiences :)
By 1978, six year olds were the target market. Which is why I checked out as a 15 year old.....
The Elder isn’t a great album, but The Oath is probably the best Kiss riff in my opinion.
This has been one of my favorite videos of the year! I definitely envy you at this point. I never got to see kiss, but they have been by far my favorite rock band of all time. Saw them for the first time on the Creatures tour, saw them many times during the "Lean Years", but the best by FAR was the Reunion Tour.
Been a fan after seeing Kiss on the Paul Lynde show in 1976. I was 6.
Ace was my favorite as well. Kiss Alive was my first Kiss Album.
Seen your videos before and enjoyed them. Just became a subscriber. Didn’t know you were a neighbor being a southern Indiana boy. Why did this video remind me of Weekend At Bernie’s?
Great story MD .Keep rock'in Dude🤟
Yup same here my mom bought me 45 record of Detroit Rock city. And I was in love we this group
That show with Aerosmith headlining were the beginning of the end of the Reunion tour.

Great story man. Crazy Nights tour in STL @ Kiel Auditorium was my first show!
Saw the 87 show, with Ted opening, Charlotte NC, sooooo, it was probably the same week you saw them! In 85 it was Black n Blue opening.

Haha, u only believe it's justifiable bc u like Kiss...Doubt you'd happily pay same towards Creed's staff & pyro costs, instead
Great journey. Great story. No regrets being a KISS fan since 1975. Those early years when them mystique was in full force hit all the sweet sports for a red blooded American kid!

Great memories
Awesome! 😎👍🏻
Currently have this on when I’m on my guitar
😂 love you metal dad keep on rocking!
Awesome show..thanks

If you were 6 in 1978 I'm you're exact age... never liked KISS much though, lol.... but really appreciate your story!!
I got into Kiss when i was younger, but they lost me at God Gave Rock & Roll To You. 🤷♀️
Nice Stories
That’s a very good daddy!!!
I really enjoyed listening to that man, Rocco brother
I almost got to see them in Toronto, but Paul got sick and stuff. I really wish that hadn't happened..
You should link up with the guys from ages of rock podcast. They’re in Indiana
I’ll try that!
Hey man, I was in Tampa too
👍🏻🤘🏻
First time I👂🏻'em >1974...
👍
I wanna thumbs up! but it's at 420! what can I say?
I wonder if anyone talks about Thayer the way this guy and thousands of others talk about ace 😅
They don’t. Tommy hasn’t done anything in that band of note.
Не знаю как я суда попал но это замачатльный канал
You sound better than Ace
Are you a fan of the current line up (Scabkiss)
Yep. I was able to take my sons on this last tour and they put on a hell of a show. Peter and Ace blew their chance with booze and coke. Ace plays like like a 5 year old these days. Ace remains my reason for picking up the guitar. I’ve loved EVERY era.
