I'm a 74 year old male with COPD, retired US Merchant Marine officer, who started sailing before I could talk. Your sailing channel has been viewed since conception, each episode both full of usable information and created with care and knowledge. We are all awaiting the turn of this legendary build. Thank you for your time and all the effort you all extend every week.
I can beat that, I'm 77! I feel pretty much the same way about the world and what a desperately unhappy place it is today, but finding solace vicariously in seeing a beautiful young family working miracles on a lovely farm in southern Sweden and a crew of fabulous young shipwrights and riggers in Port Townsend, Washington, USA, and a few others. I can't wait to see that boat turning!
Chiming in with you : also about your age (77in December this year, so half the way to be there) , and I feel the same way as you described, nothing to add !
Except, that I’m also building a 53’ Catamaran all alone in SW Florida, where hurricane Ian has put me back (because of storm damage) for over a year’s time.
I am aligned with richard and helmuth.Closing in on 80! and not expecting to build the 36 foot blue water boat but maybe something much smaller with my grandsons helping out. Well said Richard , I am an 71 yo Aussie and despair that our world has changed so much from our youth. I think the RAN family will be well served in the next 10 to 20 years to be able to escape the crazy world that it will become .

Note..the once ordered city Malmo just a stones throw from the build....is the crime capital of Sweden.Largely contained presently....Mentioning this upsets the equilibrium...so no more comment from me.
I don’t believe the world is unhappy as a whole. Media and the internet amplify the unhappiness that is happening in select areas but the world has been that way for all of recorded history. It was Vietnam, indo-Pakistan war, and US civil rights now it’s Ukraine, Israel/Palestine, and Haiti.
I’m a firm believer in making your own happiness.
I always chuckle when I see all of Vera's art work on the framework, etc. Some of that should be preserved and incorporated as accent pieces somewhere in her birth/cabin. Lol. 😄

Johan, i think you thought things over well. Still....
1) I would make some diagonal reinforcements between the brackets in the boat's length direction as when you start moving things there might be some friction in that direction misplacing the brackets during the move.
2) are you not afraid that the hard surface of the wheels in combination with the weight of the construction will damage the plywood layers and dig themselves into the plywood. Did you consider metal or other types of plates as a surface.
3) to assure the the load is constantly carried on all wheels the surface of your plates (plywood, metal or whatever will need to be perfect level over the entire track. How will you deal with that thought i realize that thanks to the gravel underlayer it might be easier as with other under types of surfaces (sand,grass, etc)
4) be careful with the machine transport skits you bought. check on Cutting Edge Construction Australia channel. He used similar skits moving lathes and other heavy loads across a flat concrete floor and the wheels were simply pulverized during the move. I'm glad you have the additional machine skates. I've had casters fail. We recommend adding a 33% addition to the total weight of the load for safety. As you know, it's not a good idea to push their limits.

Great job building your square wheel. I am 70 years old. Built many building and custom homes. I highly suggest that you take some 2x8 and make x braces between each square wheel. I will keep everything aligned and prevent the wheels from sliding to either side. Those straps will not be able to hold the possible stress of the frames attempting to move. The boat is looking great.
Yes...some diagonals...had same thought.
I am a engineer and also am concerned with the lack of x braces between the frames. Fully support the idea to add 2x8 braces

What a massive undertaking. And what a huge amount of thought and effort you have put into it. That hull is an immense work of art. This is all so different from a production facility. Doing it all yourselves! So many fingers will be crossed hoping that all goes according to plan.

One year ago, this stage seemed an ETERNITY away! I have been so looking foward to the turning of the hull and now, I cant wait till next week!!! So exciting! 🤞👌💪
Very impressive that you're turning the boat without a crane.
I'm too simple to think of different ways the same thing can be approached, resolved, and accomplished. For me, it's overhead motorised rail runners and chain blocks (block and tackle) or read books on handling this subject.
Every small fabrication factory business has the same kinda deal. Lift the hull, run the hull out of the barn, drop it onto the trestle/cradle blah blah blah...
But we see how Johan manages within his own capability and the unique constraints of his specific project. And does it.
The size of this hull is becoming apparent. We should be concerned if you start loading creatures two by two :). The garden is also sizable. It will be interesting to watch its progress.

FWIW: I used to work for a moving company that would move large heavy machinery we used "boerkey roller skates" along with thin hardend steel plates (from old industrial band saw blades) as tracks over floors. Something to consider if you have any problems rolling it! A Burke bar or two might come in handy too!!

Without stress ,who are you kidding . I'd be stressed to the max turning this hull over with all the work I'd be a nervous wreck. We will keep you guys in our prayers that all goes as planned ,you turn the hull with no problems and most importantly no one gets hurt during this process.

Very excited for you guys. In this whole operation I see one most important/dangerous moment(two times) - as you are turning, at one point the center of gravity passes a corner and square frame wants to drop…please try to calculate what the force can be, because at the last angle, right before the frame side is on the ground, the pulling leverage will be enormous(because gravity is at the longest lever)…make sure it does not pull/roll your tractor with the frame. I’m sure you will be putting supports/jacks as it goes down, but they are on the angle and it’s hard to predict. Good luck guys, we are with you!

It's actually called a toe jack, the low one, great job. And you will get it done. A big backhoe would be better than a tractor , it could probably life the boat half way over.
I know, I'm being picky, but a backhoe is an attachment for a tractor. I think maybe you meant excavator

All very interesting and it is going to be great watching the actual turning over. You didn't mention anything about how you'll stop or slow the fall onto the next flat of the square once you've passed the pivot point of the square wheel.

Fluorescent lights are the best lights to use when evaluating a surface for irregularities. All car manufacturers passes every car through an inspection booth with many fluorescent lights to spot imperfections. With that said I was paying attention to the light reflection as you were walking around the hull and I’m extremely impressed the endless hours at the long board has paid off. Well done!

The corner radius on your frames are much smaller than the photo example you showed. The smaller radius will cause a larger rotational force when acted upon. They will make the turn harder to control. In a perfect world the frame would form a perfect circle to minimize the forces requied.

I’m a tunnel engineer so I’m used to moving and manipulating heavy objects in a confined space without a crane. I’m not clear on your scheme to flip over the hull but there are some mistakes people make in these situations. Your hull is fairly rigid. When you are sliding the boat out of the barn, as few as three wheels will be carrying the load. If the hull flexes and sags a bit, then maybe a few more wheels will make contact and carry some load. Your track will not be perfectly level. Wheel loads will be higher than you plan if you expect all the wheels to carry the load. You talked about using plywood to make a runway. Have someone check the rolling shear force created inside the plywood by the wheels. The plies can fail at the lamination faces. You might think about renting steel plates used for temporary covering of holes in the street. If you wood sags. The weight will be spread to adjacent wheeels but the whole hull will be more difficult to move as you are essentially pulling the hull up a hill if the track sags. You have done a great job so far. Don’t trust to luck!

I would have put copper coat on the hull before turning it over. Would be significantly easier than doing it the correct way up, no downside to applying it a year or more before splashing.

We had a tree fall against our house a few years ago, It was tall but somewhat skinny western hemlock. The house is sturdy and withstood it with only minor damage to the gutter and roof edge. Due to various factors a crane could not be used to lift it. The tree company that removed it instead used snatch blocks up in a nearby tree fed down to boat winches. The boat winches were attached to a wide belt that was strapped around the base of the tree. They used fairly thick dyneema lines. I was surprised at first but when you consider the loads that a sail produces, a large winch has to be rated to many thousands of pounds.
“Exciting” is very much an understatement!

When working on one of my previous boats i also needed to turn that boat from one side to the other side to restore the bottom and the keel of that boat used Some chain pulley’s to effectively turn and in the same time used another one to use as a brake so the hull could not move unexpectedly, worked like a charm. This was a steel hull weighing around 5 ton so not a very heavy boat like yours
So that’s why Vera learned to ride a bike… to pull the hull out of there🤭! Hope everything goes to plan!…

You are not only a master craftsman, Johan, but (now) an engineer dealing with all of the geometrics and physics of turning your hull over and moving it about without any catastrophic consequences.
