That was such a lot of fun. A unique experience larking a drained river. Im so glad we managed to recuperate those pipes and keep the history of Swinyard alive. Brilliant video x
Thank Nic! 👍🏻👣🧡
Was it good luck, back in the day, to throw ones old pipes in the river?
I would love some of those pipe stems for making beads out of...
what would you sell them to me by the kilo?
and how much to send them to California? ?
@@LaAttiDah, you can find them on ebay.
ALL THOSE PIPES MAKES ME WANT TO SMOKE A BOLE🤔🤪
Simon, I really enjoy when you and Nicole go mudlarking together. It doesn’t matter where you go, you seem to have a super time and enjoy sharing finds.
Thank you. Yes we are great pals 👍🏻🐾🧡
@@Sifinds But did she ever give you the Britannia bowl she promised?!
They're 'oar'some!
I loved the look on Si's face!
Love the under water shots!
Thank you Si (and Nicola), for 35 minutes of pure joy - not a mention of COVID nor a mask in sight. It gives me hope, as I struggle to keep it together in Melbourne under the harshest lockdown on the planet. Thank you so much.
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
Just an idea when you find an ink pot that's broken in half refurbish it like you did with the key and picture/wall hook, you find boards and wood on your journeys. A half ink pot on a board/wood piece with ink pen in it by the telephone or writing table...when Nicola picked up the ink pot and it was broke in half instantly I thought of that. Nice finds btw ☺
Poppy had a very busy and productive day too. She’s your lucky charm Si!
She is! 👍🏻👣🧡
Great to see you two together. What a treat video. Thanks, Si & Nic.
Thanks John! 👍🏻🐾🧡
What a precious dog.
What a treat to have the river empty like that! It’s definitely a Pipe day! 🦋
Thank you we had a great time 👍🏻🐾🧡
Sunday morning, a cup of coffee, and great finds with Si with Nic! Nothing better! Thanks!
Thanks Nancy! Appreciate that 👍🏻🐾🧡
How interesting to find all those pipes, stems and kiln trash, all in 1 spot! You both hit the pipe jackpot!
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
This was fascinating! So interesting to see all the discarded pipes right next to where they would have been made! Nice to see Nicola on the outing too, she couldn’t have missed out on that as she is the queen of pipes! Nice to see Poppy the dog making an appearance again 🐶
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
Awesome video! I know Nicola was in heaven lol❣
She was! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Si, that was great. Nice to see the sunshine in a different place and your mush when Nicola said ‘awesome’ (oarsome) hahaha
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡Not sure if she even meant that joke. lol
That was an amazing haul of pipes!! I think Kate may have passed out with excitement at all of them and the head pipe!!!!! (it is top on her wish list) We are supremely jealous! :)
Hi gang! Believe me this is a one off! Once in a lifetime haul even! But they are out there, so never give up the hunt! A head pipe will come one day I reckon! Hope you are well x 👍🏻🐾🧡
Simon and Nicola you two are a great team .do some more please
Thank you - we will! 👍🏻👣🧡
Loved it! I’d watch this from dawn til dusk everyday of the week. Nicola looked proper made up! Nice that you two could team up again 👍
Thanks - yes we love a trip out together 👍🏻🐾🧡
You people are just the greatest 😊❤️
Aw thanks Tony 👍🏻🐾🧡🐕
Pipes, pence and a Poppy... what a great day in the muck!
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
Oh..this was a fun one! What a wonderful place.
Poppy is a darling.
Thanks for the vids...keep them rolling!
Thanks Liz 🐕
First thought when you pulled up the "face" pipe bowl was "Teddy Roosevelt!!" (States here). I know it wasn't him but it did resemble. What fun you guys are. Love tagging along. Thanks.
Turk's head? Thank you for the proper name. Teddy Turk!!
Thanks Sheryl!! 👍🏻🐾🧡
@@Sifinds For Turkish tobacco?
@@rustyiron Could be but I think it’s just an exotic design I reckon. Maybe there was an influence from that way?
@@Sifinds I think there could be a connection. Tobacco was grown in Turkey and Egypt in the time the pipes were made, and was popular I guess before Virginia tobacco.
As a local to Guildford, this made me so excited!
Happy Sunday and Si and friends are here.☮️🇨🇦You found a hoard Si😀
Thanks. I stopped at calling it a hoard because it wasn’t put there for safety etc to return too. Haha
Oh my! I wouldn’t have wanted to leave!
I Really enjoy watching yours and Nicole's mudlarking. So cool you are doing it together here, and in the past. I'm a great fan. I find it fascinating. Such great history. Thanks man.
Thanks Steve! 👍🏻🐾🧡 appreciate that
Yeah, it’s great when you two team up.
All those pipe bowls ... so so jealous
Thanks Sarah - it was a once in a lifetime moment! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Wow! What a pipe bonanza! I could see Nicola was definitely in her element.
She was! 👍🏻👣🧡
Lovely seeing a shared day larking with Nic ! 😀😀🌻🎥🌼
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
So exciting! That clump of pipe stems Nicola found is amazing! Thanks for sharing😀
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
This area gives me such a feeling of dejavu from when i was a small child and used to poke around in the streams looking for stuff.
@ 27:59 looks like the missing claw from the crayfish at the start. Grew up on the river Wey 10 miles further up stream.
Great fun seeing you and Nicola together again. Pipes galore love it. Your coins are wonderful. Thanks
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
Pipes! Pipes! Pipes! Love the coin haul too! 😍
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
That dog is so cute. Love watching the vid.x
Thanks! 🐕👍🏻🐾🧡
So many PIPES.
AWESOME!
A pipe dream eh? 👍🏻🐾🧡
Mudlarking posse!!!! Or The Three Mudsketeers -- with Dogtagnan? Would love to hear more about pipe-making -- factories, kilns, obviously the waste/imperfect pipes....
Ah I wish I’d thought of that! Lol
@@Sifinds -- See -- there's a reason that you keep me around!!!! :-)
What a haul!!! Even the dog found something great! Now off to see what Nic found.
Haha thanks! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Awe Poppi! So good to see her! It’s been awhile! How fun to spend a day in a new spot and finding so many pipes!
It was a pipe dream! 👍🏻🐾🧡
And also 🐕
When Nicola went to NY with the 3 people and was digging at an old dump site I loved when she went to the couple's home and saw how the man had decorated the picture frames with clay pipes & pipe stems. Surprised no one has tried to do the same thing with them.
Lol the start of the video with Nicola squealing in delight thanking you all in finding a special pipe well just made me smile with delight for her such a treasure trove of pipes you all found and a delight to watch your excitement in finding them like kids in a candy shop lol and love seeing Poppy hope I got her name right frolicking in the water what a sweetie thanks again Simon for another amazing treasure hunt with your friends
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
This was an excellent pipe and coin day!
Thanks Trina 👍🏻🐾🧡
I've only just been linked to this so can I just say, as a Guildford resident, thank you so much for visiting and documenting our riverbed! Not sure if it's been noted but the river was low at this time due to the (dramatic!) failure of a weir, and this drained the river to some extent for quite a way upstream. I dug out some good finds a little way upriver at St Catherine's - mainly pottery and coins - but regrettably didn't get the chance to investigate this part of the river while it was still low.
The river level is now back up to normal as a temporary weir structure has been installed, but there's a chance it may be drained again in the future when a permanent weir/bridge is finally built over the site of the collapse. Maybe there'll be chance for a second round!
Either way, very grateful for the work you've done here in detailing some of the local pipe-making history. My only regret is that you took so many finds away - here's hoping there's some left for us local mudlarks if the opportunity should ever come up ;)
Nic was in pipe heaven and Si was in coin heaven. What a treasure trove of pipes you both found. Makes me want to take a vacation and come mudlarking so I can find a pipe, coin and garnet 😁
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
All. Those. Stems. I kept imagining cutting them then tumbling the bits into rustic beads. Beautiful.
What a fantastic site for pipes! Thanks so much for the history - so interesting! xx
Thanks Ladies! Yes it’s a once in a lifetime experience I think!
I do love river larking can't wait to see what you guys find
Thanks!! 👍🏻🐾🧡

Wow! Great pipe day, guys! I love it when you and Nic’ get together! Fabulous start to my Sunday! Thank you so much.😀
Our pleasure Lynne! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thanks Si. Poppy had the best time. I'll bet she slept well that night! Pipe bonanza! Good coins too. Great day at the river! 💜
Thanks Annette! Yes she loved the lark too 🐕 (that emoji looks just like her) 👍🏻🐾🧡
I loved this day's adventure🌞
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
I am feeling so envious watching your amazing pipe haul. Wish I was there too!
Seriously though, I thoroughly enjoyed watching all those pipes being dug up and knowing they've not seen the light of days in well over two hundred years (great to find the 1806 coin in the same layer). But finding a pipe maker's dump, how awesome is that! Even Nichola seemed a bit overwhelmed by the experience. Just so WOW!
Thanks Stu! 👍🏻👣🧡
Thank you for letting us live in your world if only for short periods xx
My pleasure Sue! We love to share 👍🏻🐾🧡
Love all the things you find! And people you find them with ❤️❤️❤️
Much enjoyed in Maine USA
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
@@Sifinds no I thank you
Well that was a brilliant day for you all!! Brought back memories from the very early '60's, when as a child I found a huge pile of coins trapped behind a rock in a small stream. Didn't think much of it then as the coins were pretty much 'modern day' ones. Still have them. Got a really thick penny among them ???? Of course they are now deemed as old...as am I 😆
haha, cool find! Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
Certainly the spot to go if you want a clay pipe. Great collaboration, with the lovely Poppy having as much fun as any 2-legged mud luvver! Thank you... 🐱👤👻🎃🦘🐾👍😉
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
A pipe dream holiday I'd say Si Finds! Having made ceramic items and even plaster molds, many of those pipes are surely rejects. What a wonderful spot for Luck inna Muck! Coinage, pipes and much fun for All, including we armchair Larkers, especially here in Pa. Kind Thanks Simon and to your Muddy Mates as well! I suppose having The Pipe Queen there helped finding all those artifacts! A Lovely Adventure Indeed! Love and Joy of Spirit and Gold inna globs! DaveyJO in. Pa.
Thanks DJ! 👍🏻👣🧡
Yay for you say Si! Yay for you Nic! Pipedom! As usual I loved it
Thanks Billie! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Looks as if a good time was had by all, I especially like the pup. Best find of the day was the Turks head. As always I enjoyed spending some time with you
Gary
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
What a pipe haul!!!!! Western and northern lark jaws are on the floor!!!!
Hi Simon, what a great way to celebrate the lifting of lockdown in Melbourne Aus, a day out with Si Finds and his mud buddies. What was so special was to see Poppy 🌟 Hi Poppy... I think all the local residents saw the famous mudlarkers and realised there are finds to be found ! Thanks again Si.
Thanks Freda! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Love all the pipes!
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
nicola: "that´s OARSOME" ... and si´s look.... :D :D :D i love it when you bring her on. its so satisfying to see her get excited.
Clay pipe graveyard 😍
Amazing finds! Nicola is super nice, she must have been in pipe heaven 🌼
What a fantastic place you found !!! Wonderful , I loved this video !
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
Is it possible there was a pipe maker at that address in the past that discarded in the river?
You and Nicola definitely found a Honey Hole😊
Glad you two are friends or it might have gotten ugly when you hit the "pipe bonanza". I would have been grabbing like a kid in a candy store. Really enjoy seeing you two larking togerher.
Thanks Ariene! Yes it was amazing!
What a lark 👍 ! Now that's what I call proper pipe clay , or mud pipes ,rather 😀 . .
😂🐾🧡

Whoa😧😯!!!! Now THAT'S a fabulous place for pipe hunting🙌🏻👍🏼👍🏼. Really, really fun to see you and Nicola having a " battle of the pipe finds😉". Great historical information on the pipe maker, too Simon 👌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻. Well done, my friend 😊. And hey🤷🏼♀️, always lovely to see a bit of coinage...no matter the age.
Hope to see future mudlarking adventures at that river🤞🏻.
Stay safe 😷, brother-friend 😊🤗🤭😘.
Thanks so much - yes we will return! 👍🏻🐾🧡
WOW so many pipe stems, thats an amazing river to explore, loving all those pipes you all found. Beautiful finds!!

Great video guys. Thanx for all your efforts to 'Bring us Along' on what looked like a Glorious Day in Uk.
The Pipe and Coin hoard made it a Worthwhile effort.
Thx for the Entertainment.
Cheers kim in Oz.😎
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
💓Those oarlocks mounted into wood are great for holding bottles💓
Yes good idea
Recently found your channel. I've been binge watching for a couple of days now. Really enjoying the content and love the mini history lessons behind your finds. This video had some excellent finds..but my favorite part was the dog. He's out there living his best life!!
A pipe lovers paradise! awesome finds Si. Great video! x
Thanks Amanda! 👍🏻🐾🧡
I must say I do prefer some coinage over pipeage but that is just my preferenceage 😝
Haha, age
Probably better if you don’t have a preference I suppose , since you can’t really fossick to order .
A great day out...All those pipes..Really works of art.
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
I'm thinking Nicola could make some very nice like pendants or brooches with the little pictures on sides of the bowls. Maybe beaded necklaces with the broken stems. Maybe earrings too? I'd be curious to see you cut the pieces and watch as she creates her jewelry. You both are so creative. Keep it up.
What a fantastic episode! A prime place to lark. I hope you go back soon. Great job, Si. XOXOXO.
We do - stay tuned 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thank you for the frequent uploads Chap. Greetings from Denmark
Thank you! 👍🏻👣🧡
Wow pipe bonanza 👍 amazing 😊 loved the coins too.
Thanks for sharing 👍😊
Wonderful video! So glad you and Nic had a great time. You must go back there in the future.
We plan too! Thanks 👍🏻🐾🧡
Simon and Nicola, thanks for sharing your fantastic finds of history. Really enjoy your videos as you take it a step further giving us the history of the actual pipe makers and designers on your finds, so interesting you just want more of the two of you mudlarking.
