This battles always funny to me cuz I remember when it was announced and people were dusting off their hands saying "ez win for buu"
Yeah, the Kirby series didn't have much of a prescense in the vs community at the time and certainly wasn't as well know for over the top destruction as Dragonball. Off course things are very diffrent today in that while Kirby is generally agreed to be stronger then Buu in the vs community nowadays, said community is pretty all over the place when it comes to the topic of how strong the pink puffball and comparable characters truely are (stats for the series basically range anywhere from multi solar system to galaxy level to universal to multiversal, the latter was even mentioned in a pop up in Wario vs Dedede).

@@Hamantha Can't say i agree with you there, but i already knew as soon as that match was announced that Dedede would win. Mostly because i already knew where they'd put Wario thanks to Mario vs Sonic and knew that even the lowest possible numbers they could have given Dedede would be far higher.

They really didn't know Kirby at all and even when his feats were explained to them, they still didn't accept it because of their bias towards Dragon Ball characters being some of the strongest in fiction. They have no idea what Kirby does to eldritch abominations and dark gods every weekend or so.

Strongest in fiction is as kind of an exaggeration though until Super. The absolute best of Marvel and especially DC would solo the Dragon Ball universe alongside Kirby (and I still think they do to this day)

An army that is the size of entire planet or 2, magical artifacts that are so powerful they can kill gods, a lot of gods (kirbys) that can kill more gods, and most importantly the power of friendship (quite literally) as they will stand strong and together to face this universal threat.

One of my favorite things about this fight is that since it aired, the games have given Kirby feats that show they UNDERESTIMATED him during their analysis.
Yes kirby is stronger but I feel like they downplayed buu's durability by a lot. If he had virtually no durability like they said he wouldve died to goku punching him in ssj3 (not gonna go down the rabbit hole) and also they failed to mention this feat ruclips.net/video/QQTEWUHhRrA/видео.html I believe that kirby would be a close match but I think buu comes out on top due to his offense being extremely higher ontop of his defense not being as low as they said it was. Also I doubt being shot into the sun would kill buu either due to him being fried by piccolo and not caring.

Even if you wanna argue he COULD regenerate from that- kirby is MADE of pure positive energy like a living spirit bomb. Buu might not be able to even touch kirby much less kill him

This Death Battle was made before Kirby’s god slayer potential was revealed.
He’s actually a member of a species called Dark Matter. These are the compact forms of strong emotions, usually negativity. Kirby however is about friendship and sleep, yet despite all this he’s capable of wiping out entire planets if he so pleased. He’s fought god-like deities, death cults, cyborg invasions, and so much more. He can fly on his Warp Star fast enough to bypass time itself.

Buu takes on the mental prowess of the people he absorbs as well. He was a toddler until he absorbed Piccolo, which made him a sudden master tactician that could speak normally. He can also heal people from fatal injuries using his ki (even if they're missing organs and bones from the injury).

Kirby is one of those characters who seems way less powerful and horrific than he actually is. Not just cause he looks too cute, but because what he fights doesn't seem that threatening, but as it turns out, Kirby isone of the most power, deadly and terrifying characters in gaming.
Kirby is perhaps the cutest little calamity to exist in the history of video games.

Actually Kirby is the reincarnation of a god of destruction. Specifically the nice parts. That’s why a literal infant can destroy worlds with ease. Though he canonically isn’t above murder. In one game he caused a whole aircraft to die.

So, the kirby lore is kinda out dated on the video. It turns out that, that most main baddies are actually some form of dark matter. You know, a ball, with one eye. Sometimes the eye is hidden in the "mouth". Dark matter being born from void termina. Void termina itself is a neutral being, but when exposed to negative feelings, it manifests as dark matter. So, what happens when you expose it to positive feelings? You get kirby. Kirby is powerful, because it's the manifestation of the greatest being in kirby universe.
you are geting a few things mixed, void termina is the result of VOID (the neutral being, sorucer of all life) with negative energy.... kirby is VOID + imaculated vibe~

Kirby and Buu both absorb the minds of the people they eat, so he DOES need to kill the person, or at least fuse with them magically, to wield the weapon like a pro.
Kirby, however... doesn't even need that much if you include the anime. He can just take a weapon or an object that would represent the power and, boom, copy ability.

Y'know, given that the only Star Warriors we've seen are Kirby and Meta Knight, it makes me wonder- is Kirby uniquely powerful, or was the last adult survivor, Meta Knight, one of the weaker ones (weak being relative here, as while he's nowhere near the absurd power of the pink puffball, he could still solo battle most entire fictional universes).

Uh, no. Kirby is WAAAAY outside of Buu's weight class. Given that Kirby is capable of surviving without issue inside a black hole the size of Earth, that's vastly outside of anything Buu is capable of; even the most powerful DBZ characters are killed by getting thrown into the sun, which is far less energy than even a small black hole (and the larger the black hole, the more powerful it gets). Kirby's also far stronger physically; the DBZ characters can destroy planets, but only via energy beams. They're not physically strong enough to crack a planet in half, but Kirby is. Kirby's faster, since he's capable of dodging stuff at faster-than-light speed while on his Warp Star, while DB characters are not (despite what some people say; if Radditz was FTL at the beginning of DBZ, and Goku quickly reached that power level, Goku could've traveled Snake Way in less than a second; it took him *_way_* longer than that). All the energy beams are things Kirby could inhale and reflect, and even if the candy-beam hit Kirby, he's proven repeatedly that getting changed into weird things (clay, yarn, a ball) doesn't affect his fighting ability at all.
So, yeah, Kirby vastly outstrips Buu by many, *_many_* orders of magnitude. He regularly deals with godlike beings even Beerus would be terrified of, stuff on par with Zeno (who can basically destroy entire universes with a wave of his hand). You might even say he'd Kirb stomp Buu.

I remember being so pissed about this DB since it assumed that Kirby would literally throw Majin Buu into the sun before Majin Buu simply absorbs him. This DB was right looking back, but the DB definitely didn’t answer why properly.

Kirby is faster, he can absorb anything Buu throws at him, and there's also no reasonable way to suddenly give Buu the intelligence of an absorbed Piccolo.
Gohan got defeated by Buu because he couldn't catch an ear ring. Buu's absorption isn't actually an insta win, it's just an easy out for bad writing. Kirby would have no problems avoiding some blobs.
Well why was there a sun at all? Thats not a neutral setting. Not that the Sun would kill him anyway. They are essentially implying a fucking star is on the level of the Super Spirit Bomb which Buu repelled until Goku got his energy back anyway.

I’ve actually done the calcs for the baseball meteor mini game and it’s a lot more ridiculous than we give it credit for.
The speed of that Meteor AFTER Kirby hits it, is roughly 12.6 Billion times the speed of light, assuming there isn’t any exponential decay in speed over time.

Kirby certainly has a limited amount of stamina (as in... Health. Stamina-wise he could probably just keep going on forever) but the thing is, in most Game Over screens when other characters are dead, or have an otherworldly person pay for another life with coinage, or are lying on the ground in immense pain, or are knocked out, *Kirby is only asleep*
Dying is not on his agenda and if his picnic with friends is interrupted, may you have plenty of reparations to give to him

LET ME MAKE THIS CLEAR: I do know that Kirby fucking obliterates. He shit stomp the entire franchise games and all (that's a bit more debatable). Kirby dimensional transcends Dragon Ball and no one would be able to comprehend his power not existence. BUT they extremely downplayed Buu as well.
Yeah, they thought Buu hasn't fought faster than light characters when characters have been faster than light since the Freeza saga. Buu going around destroying galaxies is already a faster than light feat.
Also Buu can regenerate from vapor so its questionable if the Sun would kill him. ESPECIALLY since the heat that's produced from the Sun isn't equivalent to the energy from an exploding planet.
Its also pretty clear that Buu "LET" himself get blown up by the Earth. And this happened ONCE when he used Planet Burst on Earth. So, you can either say its an outlier, he did on purpose, or the resulting energy from his blast put the explosion of planetary. Doesn't really matter.
Destroying planets was barely impressive in the Sayian saga. Freeza could casually destroy stars in his first form he should be capable of destroying solar systems in final at least. Cell was GOING to one shot the Solar System with a blast. Kid Buu was already taking out galaxy in his early years. Also he didn't do it one by one because in that clip (That they didn't fully play) you can see that his blast are not eclipsing the galaxy but wiping massive portions in relatively quick succession.
ALSO Kirby bare minimum has infinite speed if not immeasurable (beyond linear time, can move through time via movement).

I'm sorry, this argument is a sour spot because assuming this means breaking suspension of disbelief since the argument is always 'yeah, ever since Goku dodged lightning once, the cast scales to be faster than light' without actually considering how assuming that kills so much of the tension and makes you go 'wait, he's still not there yet?' or 'wait, it actually took that long?' way too freaking much.

You should react to videos about Kirby lore, its freaking crazy. The channel Meteorz has a pretty good series called "What is Kirby Canon?", and some other people have made pretty good videos as well, but those are single videos so they might be a little long depending on how long you're willing to react to.
The next fight is Sol Badguy vs Ragna the Bloodedge, idk why its not on your playlist tho, its a Decent Fight and episode.

He was made by nightmare taking his own son, a shard of his own soul, and the bodies and souls of all the fallen monsters and star warriors who fell during the final battle and fusing them into a single form, it was supposed to then brew in pure evil under nightmare’s watch until it was old enough, however the last surviving star warriors (including metaknight before he got captured and tortured) broke into the castle and mostly sacrificed themselves to take away the indestructible form before it could hatch. They set him into the last working warpstar they had (an experimental prisoner transfer one with an ai pilot) and set it to search for a way to destroy the being it carried, on its trip it unexpectedly was damaged and landed on the planet DDD rules, releasing kirby into the world, away from nightmare and out of the pure evil he was supposed to be in, and having encountered the friendly people that took care of him he slowly began to tend toward good, however there have been a few times where his true nature has shown through briefly. In all reality Kirby is the end of all life and freedom should he ever actually revert or remember, as is he is too young and has amnesia which is about all that has saved the universe from his wrath.

Canonically, Kirby is uhh… kinda cracked!
1. Some of kirby's copy abilities are based off other games. Fighter kirby is based off ryu from street fighter, like sword kirby is based of link from the legend of zelda series.
2. Ragna and Sol are both from fighting games. Ragna is from the Blazblue series (and yes, that's how game is spelled), while Sol is from the Guilty Gears series.
Both really good fighting games.
Sadly, there are quite a few people in this comment section that honestly believe buu stands a chance. That just shows how big of bias fanboys they are or just misinformed. Kirby is beyond anything buu, goku, or just about anyone in the dbz universe could ever hope to handle. Saying kirby would lose this matchup is just a massive cope. He isn't the strongest fictional character there is (sadly), but he is REALLY high up there and stomps buu without even having to try. The saddest (or funniest) part about it is that a lot of them don't even respect any arguments about why kirby wins and just ignore their points entirely, which btw proves NOTHING about buu standing a chance. If you can't refute their claims either do some research or give up.
a lot of people were so upset about this outcome. But what they don't realize is Kirby was missing stuff back then during that fight that could have helped him even more. One example being Copy Essence Delux which lets him transform at will without having to eat anything.

The biggest issue I have with this fight is that they are pitted together because they're pink puffballs that grow stronger by absorbing their foes. They showed that Kirby couldn't absorb Buu, but didn't address what would happen if Buu tried to absorb Kirby. I feel like that's a major ability that was ignored, unless there's a reason that wouldn't work that I don't know about. But even so, still feel like it should have at least been addressed
Kirby can devour anything sent at him. Buu would have to attack him while he was asleep to have any chance to win. (And even then, "win" is subjective. Several Kirby games have this happen, and Kirby still crushes his opponents, even while he's been turned into yarn or whatever.)
Given that we've seen from DBZ, Buu's absorption works in a similar way, adimension within him that he can control. Since the Warp Star can travel through dimensions and Kirby has called it from multiple dimensions away and had it arrive within a couple of seconds, it wouldn't really make a difference.

Kirby’s lore aren’t too accurate in this Death Battle, but if you’re interested in knowing more about Kirby, then i suggest checking the What Is Kirby Canon series by Meteorz, those videos can be pretty informative based on the info currently available.

I still cringe at the whole Buu has never fought at faster than light despite Goku doing that at 13 years old in Dragon Ball. (Pre DBZ)
And with the first Super Sayin form, Goku is 50 times FTL at the minimum. (Note: Goku can increase how much faster & stronger his base form is too.)
So if Goku was struggling to defeat Buu at Super Sayin 3 which is 200x faster the base Goku, then Buu is at least 200x the speed of light as well.
Making Buu faster, well beyond what they showed for Kirby in this Death Battle.
Hell, SS Gotenks showed light speed in the show itself so of course he can reach that
Nobody in DBZ is light speed, unless light in the DB multiverse is far slower than in ours; Kirby is most definitely FTL, though, since he travels between galaxies in mere moments on his Warp Star, manually dodging all sorts of stuff along the way.

Piccolo blasting the moon is 48% FTL and he was 1/4 to 1/3 of Raditz.
Who by the way was 5x to 12x weaker and slower than Napa and Vegita in the Sayin Saga.
Then slap on SSJ (50x), SSJ 2 (100x), or SSJ 3 (200x) to Sayin Saga Goku, he is at minimum 2400x FTL by the time he fights Buu.

To the point where, if Snake Way were stretched out (ie, none of those curves it's shown to have), light would only take 3.3 seconds to travel from one end to the other. Goku, meanwhile, took a very, very long time to fly straight across, even with all the curves. And he was way stronger than Raditz was at that point. No way was Raditz FTL, no matter what Piccolo said.
And no, lightning is not light speed. Lightning only travels at 270,000 miles per hour. Light, meanwhile, travels at 186,000 miles *_per second._*
Yeah, they're not FTL. Except for Instant Transmission, but that's teleportation, not speed.
And even if they were, Kirby still has faster reaction times. He's traveled between galaxies in under a minute. The closest galaxy to the Milky Way (in which Kirby resides), is 25,000 light years away. As I said, Kirby manually controls the Warp Star, so he's manually reacting to not hit stuff between here and there. He's *_vastly_* FTL.

So, 4 - 1.3 = 2.7, then 1.3 / 2.7 = 0.48 FTL.
As for Snake way its only 10,000 miles and the moon's distance to the earth is 238,855 miles, and Goku took 1 whole day to fly over it with all the curves not stretched out.

Actually, you know what? There IS a perfect way for you to react to the Buu saga AKA the rest of DBZ that you've yet to cover (besides GT and Super).
A GBA game by the name of "DBZ Buu's Fury." It picks up from everything you left off at, and expertly puts the movies that are supposed to take place in the Buu arc expertly into the plot. (It does leave out Bio Broly, but honestly that's for the better)
Void is god, void termina is the evil half of god, kirby is the good half. So, complete Void is stronger than kirby. Void is emotionless so when conflicted with emotion he turns into kirby or void termina. There also reality shattering midgets. Though im pretty sure Void termina is actually the size of planets.
Actually the battle is unnacurate, kirby is actually an being formed out of dark matter and good emotions, it is not a warrior but it is an "primordial force", treats in kirby lore are eldrish horrors ussualy.

One important detail to note is that the made a very critical mistake in the analysis portion, which the DB team even outright admitted was a giant problem. They said that Buu has never had to combat faster than light opponents before but that’s outright false. DBZ characters started using faster than light speeds as early as the saiyan saga. Your mileage may vary as to how much that would’ve impacted the end result but it’s definitely a huge oversight.
