On a related note, Did you know Kirby's name wasn't gonna be "Kirby" at all? In development, Kirby was originally referred to as "PoPoPo", and as such it could have been meant to be a parellel to "DeDeDe"!
The name was changed in honor of John Kirby, an American lawyer who defended Nintendo in court in a lawsuit claiming Donkey Kong was Infringing Copyright of Universal Studio's "King Kong".
That case is really hilarious because it turned out that Universal didn't own the rights to King Kong after all
Is that why Nintendo has such a hate boner for copyright laws and abuses them?

After I finished The Forgotten Land myself (the most recent Kirby game), I was like, “Hmm, how big is the Kirby lore anyway?” And found this video. I’ve played half these games but never realized how much they implied about the entire story. I thought it was just about a gum ball baby alien named Kirby 😂
And that's the thing I love so much about the Kirby Lore: there's only as much story as you WANT to have, at least for the majority of the franchise.
The recent titles have definitely included more direct story elements into the game, which I definitely don't *_mind,_* but I'm certainly not ecstatic about it...

I too did not realize the depth of Kirby lore. To think that such complex mysteries lay in such a cute game.
Well now, unless you are thinking of getting a switch and playing forgotten land, his sequel video, which corrects some wrong things, and ofcourse, covers Forgotten Land.
What I like about Kirby Lore is that it reflects the game, where as the main story is simple, like how the main mode of the gameplay is, the deeper lore is dark and intense, like the extra modes being very hard and brutal.
33:25 "What if" is basically a literary device where you take an established story and change one thing about it, then show how the story would play out differently because of that change. Fun fact: almost all of the hardest fights in Final Fantasy XIV are 'what if' scenarios that don't canonically happen. They are harder, more complex versions of fights you actually did, and you tell those stories to a bard and he tries to spice it up and make it more exciting, then you sort of... imagine it all in your head, I guess? But you get loot from those fights so... yeah, it's confusing.

It’s probably Dedede to contrast with Kirby who was going to be named Popopo. They renamed him to Kirby after the lawyer John Kirby for defending Nintendo during a 1984 court case.

The best part is that this still only scratches the surface. There's so much depths to Kirby lore and just no one know that it exists.

I recently played through Kirby Planet Robobot and had a mini panic attack whenever a butterfly showed up on screen thanks to this video. Great Kirby game though!
My first Kirby game was Kirby 64: The Cristal Shards. Before that I had only knew him from Smash.
The gimmick of that game was that Kirby could copy two powers at once, combining them in dozens of different ways. The basic powers were limited to seven, but I still needed a chart to keep track of all the combos.
Your reactions reminds me of my sister’s reactions to me explaining Kirby lore to her because she thought it was just cute games. (Also had a mini rant about epic yarn not being canon)

It's a really good video and it goes into more detail about the origins of Kirby and what Kirby actually is.
19:43 What Susie did here is the equivalent of closing or turning off a videogame WHILE it’s saving and says “Do Not close or turn off while saving.” I did that once when I was 14 in Pokémon Omega Ruby, when my mom and I were in a rush to run out and do errands. Closed the 3ds before it had finished saving, causing my save file to get permanently corrupted and losing several event exclusive Pokémon. Imagine if we had something like that irl with like VR headsets (or something to the effect of the SAO nerve gears), and we could risk corrupting or melting our brains and personalities. I’ve really come to appreciate how dark the Kirby lore is, despite how redundant it can be to have Dark Matter play into nearly every other antagonist lol

If you like strawberries, strawberry short cake is a pleasant, refreshing desert thats great in hot weather. I definately recommend at least trying it!

Aw, my second favorite thing, watching people react to the Kirby lore. My first is watching people play Subnautica for the first time. Both have the same entertainment value.
I recommend the WoolieVersus kirby lore videos he mentioned. There are only four; they go into more detail about specific bosses, and they're meant to be a kind of parody of VaatiVidya's videos about Dark Soul's lore
If you think it's nuts, I highly recommend watching the video "The Lore of Kirby- Designing For Friendship" for what I feel is the cherry on top this massive lore dump

Kirby and the Amazing Mirror was for the Gameboy Advance, not the DS. But the DS could play GBA games too, so that might be why you thought it was a DS game.

There's a guy named Chase Kipp who does a sort of games in a nutshells and while his Kirby video isn't as detailed as this one and really only talks about characters and the Ancients he has done other things like Pokemon Legend Arceus some Final Fantasy games the entire Earthbound series at once ect. I recommend them since he does a good job and makes good arts

Dark Matter is the reason we have blood and gore in Kirby games. Just saying.
Since you're taking a detour down game lore and other game info/trivia videos, I can not reccomended enough the "Good enough Summary of Kingdom Hearts" trilogy by Barry Kramer.
It's made for people who have no experience with Kingdom hearts, BY someone who just had a crash course in kingdom hearts, and is very very funny.
If you won't watch it on my reccomendation alone, I'm sure someone else here will vouch for it.
