I stopped paying attention to Kirby lore after RtD but the fans of the series will never let you down, whether spoiler free or not. Also every time Pat says something about Meta Knight being a fragment of Dark Matter, I'm just like "Oh, you sweet summer child" But yeah, I recommend SuperStar Ultra for the DS. It was my first game and is a good way to introduce you to the series with several small, basically standalone games tied into one. "How many times does Meta Knight's ship get shot down?" As many as Dedede gets possessed (not really a fact, but still a lot)
I've always loved the kirby lore especially the details from this video. In terms of Kirby games to play, I would recommend Return to Dreamland, Planet Robobot and Forgotten Land
Kirby's lore is pretty insane if you start looking at it closer. The craziest thing is that Kirby Dreamland 3 was released as "E for Everyone" back in the day....
I’d highly recommend watching the character analysis of Dedede and Meta Knight done by Silvery. They’ll both help touch a ton on things you didn’t get to see here. Going off of this video, your reactions to that would be an absolute joy to experience.
Honestly the best thing about Kirby lore is that it’s so convoluted, so dark, so conmected…but in the end, it’s still just about Kirby protecting his friends. No matter how deep down it goes, the feeling this kindhearted pink ball of sunshine gives off never gets dampened. In a way, it just helps show off how great Kirby‘s immaculate vibes truly are!
I think Kirby Canvas Curse/Power Paintbrush and Kirby Mass Attack are super fun for spin-off games. Not only are several siblings of a character from CC introduced in modern Kirby, MA is a sort of what-if scenario with a more introspective Kirby after he almost gets killed
As someone who has been into the Kirby franchise for almost their whole life, it's always fun to see people who haven't played any of the games react to how bat-shit insane the lore of this cutesy platformer franchise get.
8:20 Nova was the clockwork star that was used to make a wish. 17:49 There's an obvious joke to be made here... 18:24 Twice in the main series - once in Super Star (Ultra), again in Robobot. 26:32 Translation error, which is something Star Allies is full of. In the original Japanese description, she's more benevolent, using science and technology to improve the lives of others, though she is still noted to harbor hostility toward "savages". 27:15 He was corrupted in that game specifically by a dark heart. That was that game's excuse for you to fight him (same as with Dedede and most of the other bosses in it). 28:48 That last one is a bit of an assumption on RPGMonger's part. 32:54 The only "murders" he's responsible for are Haltmann, Sectonia, and the various evil creatures that threaten his home, and I wouldn't call those last ones murder.
"Why can't [Dark Matter] possess Kirby, then?" The implication/general assumption is that Kirby, being an incarnation of the Void like Dark Matter, can't be possessed for the same reason Dark Matter can't possess another piece of itself. It's the same reason Gooey can't be possessed.
If you want a good lore coverage video, I would recommend keeping it along the Nintendo party lines and going for the Metroid series. With Dread out and Prime 4 still in the works, there are plenty of interesting facts that most people don’t know about the series.
Explaining the Kirby lore in more detail: About Dark Matter: it was DISCOVERED, not created, by the ancients. They tried to seal it but failed. As shown, Kirby and Gooey are both Dark Matter. Shiver Star is actually a nuclear winter on Earth Meta Knight may be a relative of Kirby’s species, so he could be Dark Matter Galacta Knight is canon, but his fights with Kirby and MK aren’t Galactic Nova and The Master Crown is a creation of the Ancients Taranza stole the Dimension Mirror as a gift for Sectonia, who was corrupted by Dark Meta Knight Susie was not sent to the mirror dimension, Another Dimension is it’s own separate thing Meta Knight is NOT a bad guy For some reason, whenever someone summons Galacta Knight, he immediately kills them Galacta Knight was one of the heroes who sealed the darkness in the Jamba Heart The explanation for Susie was just the English translation, the Japanese translation has more lore, where she uses the company for power Meta Knight IS A GOOD GUY, in Star Allies, he was corrupted by the Jamba Heart, like King Dedede (he got swole from it) Magolor is an ancient, just like Hyness Void Termina is basically God in the Kirby Universe Void also CREATED Dark Matter, including Kirby Void can be altered based on whether positive or negative energy is gathered, which is why Void is “evil,” because negative energy was gathered from Hyness Kirby was only able to purify the Mage Sisters and Hyness because of a piece of the spears which sealed the Jamba Heart Morpho Knight has canonically killed Galacta Knight There are multiple Morpho Knights And yes, Kirby commits murder. @MorePatterrz
I want to clear some things up First, void is basically a god who when is surrounded in ether good or bad energy will make a renunciation to spreed that emotion. Second, void termina was sealed by four worriers. One of the worriers was galactic knight who was not sealed yet. The ancients started to fear galactic knights power after sealing void termina so the magic ancients sealed him, after galactic knight was sealed the science ancients started to fear the magic ones because they were able to seal galactic knight so they got banished. Third, Kirby’s stomach is a pocket Dimension.
Wait, I remember reading somewhere that the Four Heroes didn’t exactly seal Termina in a Jamba Heart. To be more specific, it said the Jamba Heart came from a dimensional rift and the Heroes sealed it with the Heart Pins because it was leaking darkness.
Kirby killing people is kinda dubious at this point. Enemies when you "kill" (not including inhaling here) them turn into puffs of smoke. But we see in the games that bosses that also poof into smoke, usually return all fine. So, I guess the only time you kill anyone is when the game it explicitly clear, or when you inhale enemies.
6:42 I would personally recommend kirby's return to dream land for the wii, its a great game for all kinds of players in the series and overall is a fun game to at least try out
Kirby final bosses in nutshells Penguin Dark matter Bleeding eyeball Bleeding eyeball with wings Bleeding eyeballs cousin Jester bent on power Mage using crown B Capitalism The destroyer of worlds Pretty good intensity scaling across games
I'd definitely say that Super Star Ultra is the best one to start with, but on top of that Kirby Planet Robobot, Return to Dream Land and Forgotten Land are all incredible installments as well!!
Meta Knight is strongly hinted at being an elder member of Kirby’s species, but without the copy ability for some reason. He’s introduced as a mini boss in the second ever Kirby game, but also sometimes shows up in the background to give Kirby helpful items. His intentions are most likely to train Kirby and later on, he becomes a close friend.
I would definitely recommend you to play return to Dreamland on the wii. It was my first Kirby game and I instantly fell in love with the franchise. The story is just a masterpiece and the game is not too easy (you can't just fly above the entire levels and cheese bosses like that). I even had to force my sister to help me at some point but I was bad at the game because it was my first play through and even one of my first video game ever.
Susie's star allies screen is a mistranslation, in the original it says she's actually helping people and not mechanizing them, idk how they managed to fuck that up
I've only watched 5 minutes so far, and I must say, I'm very impressed by how quickly Patterrz is understanding how the Kirby lore works, and is making good assumptions based on RPGMonger's video.
i was really surprised on either how much you got correct or how close you were with your predictions. since it wasnt out at the time, the rpg monger made a second kirby lore video going over the lore in forgotten land and one of the spin offs, which i really think you should check out and react to
I'd recommend Crystal Shards honestly, that end boss fight they displayed is really hard but over all it's a really fun experience, figuring out new combinations for your powers, the puzzles on how to get some of the shards, it's a great time. Any of the GBA ones are pretty good too. Also of course Kirby does murder, he eats people.
Meta Knight is also implied to be related to Kirby, for after defeating him, his mask breaks, revealing a face similar to Kirby's. This is also referenced by Kirby's 8th alternate color in Super Smash Bros.
Finally someone reacted to Kirby lore!!! If you want a good game to play first I would say the newest one forgotten land is really good and also has new lore that isn’t in this video!
My favorite what-ifs are things like "What if the MC got corrupted and joined the bad guys" or ones where you think you're the good guy but at like the very end you break your own trust and it's revealed you're evil and just destroyed the world or something. I really respect people who can write the second, because you need to be able to trick the audience into thinking they're good, but the actions themselves lean towards evil. Takes so many mind games and sheer genius that it's so admirable.
I love when people react to Kirby lore videos mainly this one (RPGmonger’s video.) I love seeing people watching this cute, gluttonous ball defeat gods.
Ok so here's an explanation. In the beginning, There was a single entity, which, when encounters a concentrated emotion, it reincarnates. This being "gave birth" to both void termina and kriby one being purely good, and the other purely evil. The ancients were a group of beings, comprised of 2 types, the science ones who made the devices (ie. The clock and the crown) and the magic ones that gave the devices power. The ancients got a group of warriors, Including galacta knight to Seal void termina, The ancients sealed galacta knight, because they were scared if his power. The science ancients, banished the magic ancients, so the magic ancients tried to revive void termina. Zero's origins are unknown, but it just wants to take over stuff with dark matter. The orange butterfly is a divine being of judgement, that can cross dimensions, and if it absorbs a powerful soul, it makes a morpho knight.
There’s a lot more than this they didn’t even touch on forgotten land and that butterfly is essentially the Grim Reaper and a passer of judgment and The thing was Susie is only in English version in Japan she rebuilt the company as a charity and I would recommend superstar ultra, planet Robobot, return to dreamland,or forgotten land
Ah, yes, the Prometheans from Mass Effect. I almost like them as much as the Salari and the Asarians, and they're almost as mysterious as the Reapoids.
To summarize ALL of kirby lore in a few basic rules of what NOT to do for kirby. 1. never steal food. 2. Never wake him up from a nap. 3. NEVER threaten his home!! 4. INVOLVE POPSTAR IN A MANIACAL WORLD ENDING PLAN! Thank you for taking the time to listen to my guide on what NOT to do for kirby.
i guess a pokemon "what-if-scenario" i lile to think about is what if the evil teams weren't thwarted by 10 year olds? like what if red *didn't* beat giovanni?
My favorite part of this video is how you genuinely try to take notes and pay attention to the lore instead of just sitting there taking it all in! Great stuff!
Presumably Dark Matter can't possess Kirby directly because while Dark Matter is pure evil, Kirby is a force of pure good. Which is probably why most antagonists he's faced have ended up becoming his friend, and the others have been utterly annihilated from existence.
You don’t seem like a person who would enjoy Kirby games but I definitely think you should try a Kirby game like Kirby star allies or Kirby and the forgotten land
It’s actually heavily, heavily, HEAVILY implied that Meta Knight is of the same species as Kirby. Whenever he beaten in battle, his mask will break, revealing his cute interior he likes to hide from the world. Which is what that purple Kirby alt with yellow eyes is based off of.
Of the kirby games the ones I recommend playing are Super Star, Kirby 64, Triple Deluxe, Planet Robobot and finally the brand new Forgotten Land. The thing about Meta Knight is he SEEMS to be the same species as Kirby, as without his mask he looks like a black kirby with yellow eyes (amusingly he immeditaly runs off when unmasked, implying he's embarassed of his true face). Meta Knigth is actually consistently a good guy, with Meta Knight's Revenge being the ONLY time in the series he's an actual antagonist. I like that Susie seemingly never reforms. After all, she only helped Kirby because she, like, didn't want to be killed by Star Dream, and even her attacking Haltman was less for good reasons and more because she was pissed at her dad for forgetting her and also make money selling Star Dream. She was COMPLETELY fine with the mechanising plan throughout the game too.
16:31 he is angry because he got clapped by Kirby , so he was defeated by a child oh its gonna be more embarrassing this man dark meta knight has more battle experience than kirby, ONE shoted meta knight and then he got clapped to add more disrespect, he got clapped again by king dedede in what if scenario if i was him i will be pissed too
the gist of meta knight lore is that every time you beat him his mask breaks revealing that he looks almost exactly like kirby. hes not ususally made out to be a villain more of an honorable swordsman looking out for the world. unless the next villain of the week takes over him to attack kirby.
I’m effing obsessed with seeing Kirby newbs react to the lore. I wonder what someone who knew nothing about the lore reacted to the butterfly in The Forgotten Land?
He doesn't say this in the video, but Susie is actually incredibly terrifying. So much so Meta Knight will run from her as he is terrified of her. Same with Dark Meta Knight. And to put that into perspective, Meta Knight is the kirby version of Shadow the Hedgehog.
Alright so the reason star allies says susie is still evil is because of a translation error. In the actual canon she is helping people with her technology and blasting anyone who gets in the way of that

@@aidenblaze075 another good place to start honestly, I'd personally say after Return to Dreamland but it's not necessary at all
Return to Dreamland is my favorite Kirby game.
That Susie part in Star Allies was actually a mistranslation. I forgot what she actually does with the company though.
She simply just helped improve people's lives, essentially returning the purpose of the company to its original state
It doesnt say mechanizing planets but drops the "exterminate savages" line that Halttman throws around which is just as worrying.
It says that she's "making smiles" for everyone, while also saying she's destorying 'savages' (which, remember, is what Haltman calls Kirby for foiling his plans)
so...it's ambiguous.
There's only so much lore you can fit into one pause screen for one character sadly.
Susie's motivation in Star Allies was a mistranslation! If I remember correctly she started to use the company to build houses and other things that would vastly improve the lives of people.
He addresses mistranslations like that as well as the games that were released after Star Allies in the sequel video to this one, it would be interesting to see you react to it as well! Also, Kirby and the Forgotten Land lore is genuinely incredible, the arc for both Elfilin and Elfilis was great.
Dedede is not the Bowser, he straight up said he became more of an allie, but he’s really a rival
Would dedede be Wario than?
To be fair bowser usually ends up becoming an alley in pretty much any game where there's a more severe threat than himself, although Dedede is certainly far closer to the heroes than bowser tends to be
1:45
It's scary how close he got for a guess he pulled out of nowhere.
30:32 is also pretty terrifying for a guess, although he had made it almost through the video at that point
Dark Matter existed before the ancients, and was experimented _on_ by the ancients.
@@nullpoint3346 that why I said "close"
Void Termina made Zero, which made Dark Matter. Void Termina however was imprisoned and later released by the ancients, of which Hyness was one of.
He didn't get it exactly right, but their lore is closely tied together
Keep in mind that Kirby is about 8 inches tall, so the things he beats are probably 5 feet tall at most
They may be 5 feet tall but they can still turn you inside- out
Wait but isn't Adeleine supposed to be human? Why is she almost as small as Kirby then?
@@wintersong2266
She's short
@@ld6906 Bruh, there's being short and then there's being the size of a mouse. Not only that but the Forgotten Land are heavily implied to be Earth. The buildings and abandoned objects you find all over the world would be way too small if Kirby was really supposed to be 8 inches.
@@wintersong2266 same with Shiver Star from kirby 64
26:30 I think this was a mistranslation in the English version.
I think the original Japanese game says that she didn't continue mechanizing planets, but she's turned the company back to the path of good.
I'm surprised by how many predictions Pat *almost* got. Every time Pat made a prediction or a mini theory I was like "he's almost there, how is he almost there?"
I stopped paying attention to Kirby lore after RtD but the fans of the series will never let you down, whether spoiler free or not.
Also every time Pat says something about Meta Knight being a fragment of Dark Matter, I'm just like "Oh, you sweet summer child"
But yeah, I recommend SuperStar Ultra for the DS.
I can’t wait to watch this video again and see another person shocked by how much there is to Kirby.
Yeah same
Yeah
Fun fact: Kirby had a 99.9% chance of being defeated against Star Dream
Kirby's lore is pretty insane if you start looking at it closer.
The craziest thing is that Kirby Dreamland 3 was released as "E for Everyone" back in the day....
And then there is bloody eye ball
I can’t believe you hit the nail on the head with how Kirby relates to Void
I mean I dunno if the term murder requires it to be unjust or not
I used to be a Kirby veteran, and I’m trying to bring back pieces of lore that I knew, but seeing your reaction to this said lore was honestly funny.
1:03 he is more like a donkey kong, “villain” in the first few and somewhat antagonistic in most but an ally at times as well
"Why can't [Dark Matter] possess Kirby, then?"
The implication/general assumption is that Kirby, being an incarnation of the Void like Dark Matter, can't be possessed for the same reason Dark Matter can't possess another piece of itself. It's the same reason Gooey can't be possessed.
I always love watching people react to the Kirby lore and just be completely dumbfounded by how serious it really is.
10:10 he sounded like he was about to say, "That cake looks delicious?" But immediately switched to "Gone!"
If you want a good lore coverage video, I would recommend keeping it along the Nintendo party lines and going for the Metroid series. With Dread out and Prime 4 still in the works, there are plenty of interesting facts that most people don’t know about the series.
And this, my friends, is why I don't watch videos at higher speeds:
I don't miss information that was just explained to me.
His reaction to absolute eldritch Kirby lore is amazing
It's more accurate to describe Dedede as a secondary protagonist.
He's basically gone through the full Vegeta character arc.
0:04 ONE OF US ONE OF US ONE OF US
Explaining the Kirby lore in more detail:
About Dark Matter: it was DISCOVERED, not created, by the ancients. They tried to seal it but failed. As shown, Kirby and Gooey are both Dark Matter.
Shiver Star is actually a nuclear winter on Earth
Meta Knight may be a relative of Kirby’s species, so he could be Dark Matter
Galacta Knight is canon, but his fights with Kirby and MK aren’t
Galactic Nova and The Master Crown is a creation of the Ancients
Taranza stole the Dimension Mirror as a gift for Sectonia, who was corrupted by Dark Meta Knight
Susie was not sent to the mirror dimension, Another Dimension is it’s own separate thing
Meta Knight is NOT a bad guy
For some reason, whenever someone summons Galacta Knight, he immediately kills them
Galacta Knight was one of the heroes who sealed the darkness in the Jamba Heart
The explanation for Susie was just the English translation, the Japanese translation has more lore, where she uses the company for power
Meta Knight IS A GOOD GUY, in Star Allies, he was corrupted by the Jamba Heart, like King Dedede (he got swole from it)
Magolor is an ancient, just like Hyness
Void Termina is basically God in the Kirby Universe
Void also CREATED Dark Matter, including Kirby
Void can be altered based on whether positive or negative energy is gathered, which is why Void is “evil,” because negative energy was gathered from Hyness
Kirby was only able to purify the Mage Sisters and Hyness because of a piece of the spears which sealed the Jamba Heart
Morpho Knight has canonically killed Galacta Knight
There are multiple Morpho Knights
And yes, Kirby commits murder.
@MorePatterrz
19:30 the transition for 'yeah get em' to 'oh no' is pinpointable and I love it.
I want to clear some things up
First, void is basically a god who when is surrounded in ether good or bad energy will make a renunciation to spreed that emotion.
@@Mr_Noname084 I didn’t know that
@@victoriagrubb8853 I read it on the wiki, so we should probably take it with a small pinch of salt
@@Mr_Noname084 note taken
@@victoriagrubb8853 okay, appearantly the Jamba Heart thing is from one of Hyness’ Japanese descriptions, so no salt is required
I'd play planet Robobot if you want to play one. It has the most interesting theme and gimmicks and is just a good Kirby experience
“Does Kirby do murder?”
Not only does Kirby murder people, he then turbo murders their souls
Kirby and the forgotten land is seriously good and would absolutely recommend playing it!

Bleeding eyeball
Bleeding eyeball with wings

Jester bent on power
Mage using crown

Susie's star allies screen is a mistranslation, in the original it says she's actually helping people and not mechanizing them, idk how they managed to fuck that up
Forgotten land was my first Kirby game and I LOVED it! It's so cute and so fun.
18:24 the cut scene where it gets shot down is the most epic part of Sub Space.
The "power of love" in kirby isnt just a thing. Its a straight up deadly weapon. Lol
I've only watched 5 minutes so far, and I must say, I'm very impressed by how quickly Patterrz is understanding how the Kirby lore works, and is making good assumptions based on RPGMonger's video.
i was really surprised on either how much you got correct or how close you were with your predictions. since it wasnt out at the time, the rpg monger made a second kirby lore video going over the lore in forgotten land and one of the spin offs, which i really think you should check out and react to
Pat: "Wait, Kirby murders?"
Me: "Oh, he does much more than just murder them. He swallows them whole on a regular basis."
Thing to never ask:
A man: his salary
A woman: her age
Kirby: how much power he has
the next kirby game will be pat fusing with a different huge plant to preserve his devilish looks 💪
Star Dream: Galactanite! I Command You To Kill Kirby!
Galactanite: Im No Ones Worker *Cuts Star Dream*
You definitely gotta watch the newer Kirby lore videos from RPG Monger too
“Looking for meaning in Kirby Lore” by Indigo’s Findings is also a very good video, I recommend it a lot.
If you want to play a kirby game, kirby planet robobot is one of the best games in the whole series!
Ok so here's an explanation.
In the beginning,
There was a single entity, which, when encounters a concentrated emotion, it reincarnates.

You don’t seem like a person who would enjoy Kirby games but I definitely think you should try a Kirby game like Kirby star allies or Kirby and the forgotten land
Meta knight IS a good guy, he's just a morally gray good guy.
“I can’t believe Kirby does murder”
Me: *looking back on Kirby’s endless path of destruction leaving no waddle dee standing* “yeah... real crazy.”
16:31 he is angry because he got clapped by Kirby , so he was defeated by a child
oh its gonna be more embarrassing
this man dark meta knight has more battle experience than kirby, ONE shoted meta knight and then he got clapped
to add more disrespect, he got clapped again by king dedede in what if scenario
if i was him i will be pissed too
the gist of meta knight lore is that every time you beat him his mask breaks revealing that he looks almost exactly like kirby. hes not ususally made out to be a villain more of an honorable swordsman looking out for the world. unless the next villain of the week takes over him to attack kirby.
I’m effing obsessed with seeing Kirby newbs react to the lore. I wonder what someone who knew nothing about the lore reacted to the butterfly in The Forgotten Land?
"Does Kirby kill people?"
BIG YES.
“‘Cause we’re all gonna be safe and have a real good time”
Zero’s core shoots out like an oozing eyeball zit
“What the Jesus Christ was that?!”
He doesn't say this in the video, but Susie is actually incredibly terrifying. So much so Meta Knight will run from her as he is terrified of her. Same with Dark Meta Knight.
And to put that into perspective, Meta Knight is the kirby version of Shadow the Hedgehog.
