I've been thinking about a dynamic that's just a genuine platonic relationship between a cheerleader and a football player. They're both really good friends and sometimes people suggest that they should date, but neither of them want to. They're just happy with each other's company as friends.
I'd love for more hetero platonic relationships.
Everyone around them feels as if they should date, but only those two know they're not interested. Bonus points if they're both aroace and bond over a specific interest.
And everyone is like: "Even if they say that they are just friends, one day will fall for each other and get married"

One of my favourites ship dynamics is 'codependent to the point of toxicity and they know it, but they won't do anything about it because they love it'. Because usually, they push each other to extremes, whether you consider that to be their best or their worst, and they enjoy each other's company so much it would simply hurt too much to stop. They're so close labels stop having meanings, they're so codependent it's worse than drugs. And if they get separated? God knows what could happen.

Both have decades, maybe even centuries of experience with the world, but still learn new things from each other. Both have been worn out from the cycles of life repeating again and again, but continue to endure it together. They've seen friends die, coummunities destroyed, locations erode away, they've experienced the worst humanity had to offer, but keep on living because they love each other. The worst of the worst is worth it, because they'll be together for every single second.

In short, character A was immortal from the very beginning, actually got tired and apathetic, but happened to travel with character B for a bit. Character B was a mortal person, but decided to join character A on this neverending journey, even when character A tried to prevent it from happening, knowing that immortality was a curse 😔🖐️

one thats literally just based around my own ocs is when B is very quiet and "apathetic" and only stays that way because theyre like the leader of the group and if they show theyre scared everyone will fall off the deep end, but as soon as they realise something is wrong with A they get very emotional and panicked and act almost alien to how they were beforehand

The 'hard to get x hard to get rid of' dynamic is especially fun to me because it's usually unexpected for the hard to get. Like, this person has decided they want to be friends with this other person so they show up everywhere either at school or work, invite the person out, come over to hang, and before the one who's been decided knows it, they have all the happy memories together.

That girl’s always going to choose popularity and security over him every time even if it makes both of them miserable because that’s just the way her fear shapes her. And by learning to be just friends with his crush, they strengthen their feelings. They make time for each other whenever they can, but at the end of the day, as reciprocated as the feelings may be, their fears pushed them in different directions. He’s managed to cling to every close relationship he has and keep them because he’s terrified of being alone. She’s managed to stuff herself in a proper person costume and push away nearly everyone but him because getting close might break the cover that’s allowed her to maintain her standard of living.
for Platonic dynamics I love Gay/Lesbian Hostility, as in a Gay man and a Lesbian woman who are sworn enemies/rivals (bonus points if their partners are on good terms for the potential of them going on double dates and having to awkwardly pretend to get along) (yes if you're wondering this is based on Bowie and Julia from total drama reboot and their platonic dynamic) i do also love Gay/Lesbian Solidarity which is usually a very wholesome dynamic.

one of my personal favorites is something that is similar to orpheus and eurydice. they love each other so much, but it doesn't work no matter what, because one (or both) of them is destined to die. my favorite example is sigurd and deirdre from fire emblem genealogy of the holy war. sigurd was so in love with deirdre he didn't care about the curse she supposedly carried. but deirdre was destined to get taken away, sigurd was destined to die. no matter how much they loved each other, they were destined to not be happy. but god, the happiness they DID have while they had each other...
Have you ever read The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller? It has that trope in it and it’s really interesting but also really sad

I love the sun/moon or Sunshine/stormy cloud dynamic (only if it's healthy though i do not like it when the moon is bad to the sun with no consequences and real grow) i started to love a show just because the main protag and her best friend were this dynamic (they even dressed up as sun/stormcloud for halloween in an ep) idk if they'll get together but i would kill and die for them

(This is about Gil Alexander and Brigid Tenenbaum btw)
Couple of my favorites:
- These two are in love but neither would die for the other and they both understand that and are totally honest and okay about it.
- A character ends up picking their family/found family/best friend over the character they are in love with.
- (not romantic) A mentor character is totally manipulating and using the mentee (because they’re the Chosen One or whatever so they stand something to gain from allying with them) and the mentee knows this fully, but doesn’t have a problem with it because they’re also leeching off the mentor for their knowledge and resources. Parasitic + parasitic = symbiosis.
- A and B hated each other with a passion, but were thrown into a very dangerous situation and were forced to band together since they don’t know anyone else (and therefore can only trust and rely on each other)
- A and B were hated each other with a passion, but were thrown into a very dangerous situation and ended up turning from petty rivals to arch-nemeses. “I don’t want to kill anyone, but if I have to, then I’d pick the person I don’t get along with.”
Person: "I'm gonna trick this person/group into thinking im on their side so that i can get what i want, and nobody is going to stop me"
Days/Weeks/Months/Years later
Person: "Oh fuck im in love"

The way my two queerplatonic aro/ace characters fit the bill for like 50% of these 'romantic' dynamics is kind of funny but also equally reinvigorates the riduculous amount of love I have for them
My favorite is a character that could literally kill innocent people because they felt evil
And some golden retriever who likes flowers
I have no clue why, but I like the idea of enemies to lovers where the two genuinely can't figure out whether they want to kill them or kiss them.
Bonus points if they have an internal monologue similar to "my heart is beating so fast when they're around! I must REALLY F*CKING HATE THEM!!!"
Favorite trope is the two are in the middle of fighting and somehow wind up aggressively making out. And neither of them understand why it's happening. Extra humor points if they're rationalizing it as the equivalent of "gay chicken". Doesn't have to be gay, just rationalized as completely nonsexual and malicious.

Just realized some of my favorite ships include ‘touch-starved romantic who doesn’t know how to romance’ vs ‘affectionate and oblivious bestie’

A ship dynamic that I recently realized appears in a couple of my favorite ships is something like this: Character A is insanely powerful and/or naturally talented, to the level where it feels like noone should be able to keep up with what they're able to do. Character B, while maybe having some powers, is nowhere near as naturally powerful as A. Yet, B is too stubborn and in love to care, and tries their absolute hardest to keep up with what A is able to do. And B, despite everything, manages to do so. Maybe not as true equals to A, but much closer than anyone else. And A, who notices B's intense efforts to keep up despite not having natural powers like A's, is immensely appreciative of B and their efforts, and almost admires it in a way. Somehow, this is a base dynamic of both Maribel Hearn × Renko Usami (Renmerry) and Reimu Hakurei × Marisa Kirisame (Reimari) for me (both ships are from Touhou). Idk if it's the most canon (probably fits Renmerry more than Reimari tbh), but I love it and them so muchhhhh
Another complex ship dynamic I've developed is like this: Two "best friends" who are immensely in love with one another, and have been for who knows how long. Half the time, when doing things like cuddling & sleeping together, they barely even think of it, having the same level of subconscious love like long-term relationships. Yet, they are not truly aware of the other's feelings, and are not truly together. To everyone else, their love is obvious, but to them, it's just how they interact, sure, they're in love with the other, but how are they supposed to know the other's feelings towards them? If they think about their true relationship situation too much, it pains them, deep to their core. Yet, they both resign themselves to this fate. Their love is integral to their relationship with the other. To risk confessing is like risking the entire relationship. What if the other says no, and they have to get over their feelings? What will happen to their relationship, where their love is so critical to how they interact with the other? What if they lose their prized closeness, one that has existed for so long? Neither can even fathom taking that risk. Because, to them, being "best friends" for the rest of their lives, but things remain exactly as they are, is much better than taking a risk to be "a little bit closer," but could change everything for the worse. This dynamic is also another base dynamic for Reimari, too (I think about them a lot)
Now, some somewhat-shorter-to-explain very specific dynamics from my many interpretations of characters/ships:
Two formerly human lovers, where one became a monster, and one became a god. Yet, when they both transcended humanity, they changed too much, and have a bad divorce arc as they set out on their own opposite paths. Yet, after centuries, they slowly become amicable towards one another again, until they are both in love again. Yet, they do nothing. They're both too entrenched in their opposing paths. To be in a relationship again, no matter how much they wish to, no matter if they are aware of the other's feelings, feels like blasphemy.
Character A is somewhat pessimistic. They manage to meet Character B, an idealistic revolutionary willing to do anything to accomplish their goal. B's plan for their "revolution" involves some extremely morally questionable things, including sacrificing their (and A's) entire world for their goals. B eventually details this plan to A, and offers them to join the cause. A, somewhat unexpectedly (considering pessimism & what the plan involves), joins B. Because, while A feels like their world may be beyond saving, if anyone can use it's sacrifice for good, it's B. For B and their goal, A becomes willing to do just about anything for the one thing they feel true hope in.
Character A is stupidly in love with Character B. A follows B everywhere, stays by B when they try to push A away, takes care of B whenever they're vulnerable (even if B tries to resist), etc. Admittedly, B is very much in love with A too, because of all of these things and more. However, B is completely and utterably terrified to care for/love people, so much so they try to convince themself that they hate A instead (leading to their resistance to A's love talked about earlier). Yet, sometimes, B's love for A slips through, and as they hang out more and more, the more it happens...
Character A is (somewhat ashamedly) in love with Character B. B is unhealthily obsessed with Character C (like, B both adores and wants to completely destroy C's life). A knows that B's obsession with C is unhealthy, and is understandably repulsed by it. However, A also understands that B's obsession was born from very unpleasant happenings, and that if anything, B needs to heal from those to be able to move on. And, if one minuses B's obsession from them, while they're still very much a freak (/lh) and banter a lot with A, to A, while they're partially annoyed by it, they also find it somewhat charming. And, for B, A is one of the only people who doesn't outright hate them for their obsession (or just for being freaky /lh), and by far the one they're around the most. While B also gets partially annoyed from their banter with A, they, while they don't express it much (if at all), appreciate B's presence a lot. And, perhaps when B starts to heal from their obsession with C, they may just find that they care for A a lot deeper than they first thought.
(I'm not sharing the ships for these, because they're either entirely derived from my own stories, or somewhat embarrassing to admit. The dynamics are still really fun though)
Also, on the platonic side, I enjoy close-in-age siblings who probably collectively trauma-bonded with one another at one point, and have extremely close bonds with one another because of it (bonus if there's some current dysfunctionality in despite or because of it). My only example I have of this on my mind currently is how I imagine the Shitodo siblings from Len'en are like
Some of my favorite dynamics are the hyper-specific platonic ones. Like, for example;
“Mean Lesbian Who Likes To Punch Things” A and “Tired Bisexual Who Is At The Brink Of Snapping” B. They both have traumatic pasts in regards to their families and specific talents, and they end up bonding over said trauma-even if one doesn’t quite realize it yet. A goes from “why are they like this” to “huh, we’re actually one and the same”. B goes from “they’re pitying me” to “oh, we’re more similar than I thought”. They become fast friends and practically siblings, long before everyone else in the group has a chance to get to know each other fully. Even A and B don’t really know each other at this point. But they’re joint at the hip anyway. They will kill to keep their newfound family safe, even if it means killing themselves in the process.
Or
“Loud, Bright, And Shiny” A and “Large, Quiet, And Forgettable” B. Similar to the “Extrovert x Introvert” trope, but different. A, from the outside, is loud in all sense of the word. They’re audibly loud, because they have to be. They’re visually loud, from their clothes to their accessories to their general appearance, and are really hard to miss. Their personality is loud and boisterous, they laugh and smile and are an asshole, but even then you can’t find yourself disliking them. They plaster on a smile, shower themselves in glitter and gold, just to hide all the issues they have. B, on the other hand, is quiet and usually in the background. They may be physically large, but people tend to forget they’re there until they make their presence known. They’re intimidating, and rightfully so, but they’re also a gentle giant. They like flowers, they like to cook, they love animals, they love their friends. B has issues, but they don’t try and hide those issues under glitter and a smile. A and B get along like a house on fire, and they can-and will-set the world aflame just to keep the other safe. They have their own lives-B tends to be gone for days to weeks at a time, tending to their own wounds-but they always tend to find their way back to each other. B will always find A when they’re ready, and A takes comfort in knowing that. So what happens when B gets kidnapped, and A gets killed while trying to save B? Well, horrible things, I assure you.
Ah, that was long. Sorry. If you know the fandom/specific characters I am talking about in regards to these two dynamics, then you are my new favorite person. I am so normal about these characters, can’t you tell?

heres a ship dynamic that could be fun to play around with 2 cops who are in/ forever in a state of mural pining and their 1 criminal friend who keeps getting caught (most of the time on purpose) who basically serves as a therapist for the two helping the both of them through their relationship issues whether they likeit or not
Red X Blue contains my favorite ships. They are Jessie and James while the other one is Iruma and Amelie.
Here are some ship dynamics that have been on my mind lately:
Queen x General - Bonus points if the general has a soft spot or gets really flustered around the queen.
Exorcist x Spirit - Bonus points if the spirit was a pure soul when they died and now help the exorcist with their job, even if it puts them at major risk.
Calm listener x Outgoing and talkative person - Bonus points if the listener is able to fall asleep hearing the talkative person’s voice. (Not in a “this is so boring” way, but they fall asleep because they find the voice so familiar that they get all cozy and just drift off to sleep because they love their significant other’s voice.) Bonus BONUS points if the talkative person stops talking immediately when the listener has something to say or add (even something really minor) to the conversation.
Mine is A: very comfortable, genuine, confident, positive person (me) x B: dark, broody, anxious/depressed, thinks they’re not good enough, but feels a lot better and is able to open up/be themself around A (who doesn’t force B to do anything they aren’t comfortable with but leads by example and makes sure they feel safe)
My current oc ship dynamic that im obsessed w is definitely immature hyperactive who becomes insanely mature and collected under stress x mature and collected who becomes a nervous mess under pressure
Another favorite is "A is seems quiet and unamused UNTIL they're with B, then they're suddenly giving an animated infodump with a ridiculous grin, laughing at all of B's jokes, or just beaming while listening to B talk"

This is an actual dynamic I’m setting up with two characters of mine. Here it goes. It’s kinda complicated-
Character A and Character B fell for each other hard in their teen years, while A was struggling to find a reason to keep going. B was their rock, their comforting presence, and they were always there to listen or crack a stupid joke. In turn, A spoke up for B when they couldn’t find the words to defend themself, and was always there to remind them it’s okay to be nervous, but never okay to let others walk all over them. The two always had to keep their relationship a secret because of B’s heritage (a prince of another kingdom in this specific case), but that didn’t matter to them.
However, fate always has plans, and when both of you are two of five chosen ones, that makes things a little harder, especially when the reason you’re chosen is to end a world ending calamity that was set in motion at the beginning of time itself, and even harder when you were created to be mortal incarnations of gods.
It also doesn’t help when out of all five, A is the only one who’s going to make it out alive.
A desperately tries to find some way to save B, to stop their fate from happening, but B forces them to stop, and they sacrifice themself in order to allow A to save the world.
A is devastated, and they never quite move on from B. It’s been years (in this case, 9, and the character was 16 then and 25 now), and they’ve never once found another who quite fit the way B did.
But B isn’t exactly gone. Not at all. Instead, B became a god. And A is destined to as well, already beginning to discover new powers as they prepare to ascend.
And it all comes to a head when, just before A finally does ascend, B is there to guide them through it.
“I… I thought you were dead! I thought I was never going to see you again!” A says, barely holding back tears.
“Well… I did die, but… I got better.” B responds, already crying, but managing a laugh.
“You’re lucky I’m still madly in love with you.” A manages to smile, as they finally ascend to godhood.
“I know I am.” B answers back, taking hold of A’s hand.
“And I’m not leaving you ever again.”

Not a romantic ship dynamic but I love the idea of a teacher who's been working for years and is so tired kids being little shits and not taking their work seriously that they are honestly thinking of finding a new job meeting a kid who's special interest is whatever subject the teacher is teaching and is so enthusiastic and as the two start to bond the teacher starts to remember why the started teaching in the first place.
