@@TheRealCoryKentshe was trying to hold back her hurt, she almost let it out, her voice cracked a little, it's very hard to sing when you are hurting, you can bet she cried her eyes out that night, but her voice was very beautiful & moving, I couldn't have done it, Karen died not long after our baby girl turned 1 year old

The lyrics "we’ve got a lifetime to share” and “let's take a lifetime to say I knew you well" are tremendously haunting because unfortunately Karen's lifetime was so tragically brief. And you can tell Petula felt the deeply sad irony in those words as she sang them. And that "goodnight Karen" was utterly devastating!!

My friend who was from Downey, his parents went to Karens funeral in Downey because it was open to the public and he sent me a copy of the rembrance his parents received at the church on Downey Avenue that day! All these many years ago........I just received it last year 2020 because Chris was getting ready to sell his parents home and he ran across it while cleaning out his parents home in Downey! I'm Lucky to have it! Karen and I met one time at our dentist office on Paramount Blvd and we talked for a little while! She looked gorgeous and was so nice to this 24 year old fan who had been to 3 concerts of theirs over the years!!! She meant a lot to so many people and as the gentleman responsible for giving the Carpenters close to you said one day on CBS Sunday Morning, she didn't realize how many people loved her! After he said this he lowered his head and did not speak for several seconds clearly still moved and affected by her passing some 30 plus years later! It brought tears to my eyes while watching his interview on the! He was the head of A and M records and played w the Tijuana Brass!
His name escapes me and I apologize for not remembering his name! I am Byron here at Byron _harkey @yahoo.com......thank you for taking the time to read this! Sorry it's so long!
