I think Duvall starred in 3 Combat episodes, as well as this episode I remember seeing him play a German medic where Doc got some good screen time with him and a Hanley solo outing where a German Duvall was forced to help Hanley disarm a number of booby trap bombs that had been set around a town.
I think it was Kevin Costner that described Robert Duvall as a national treasure when he was doing an interview about his movie Open Range. I think he's right. What a body of work he's put together. They don't make them like that anymore.
well i guess i'l be redundant, THANKS. i was 12 when this was shot, & didn't see color unless i went ta friends ta see these final ones in it. very cool!!! peace, DaKwala
Other Than Playing Boo Radley in To Kill A Mockingbird, Robert Duvall Spent most of his time on the small screen until his role of Ned Pepper in True Grit or Frank Burns in the Movie Mash. All his other movie roles were bit parts in Capt Newman MD and Bullitt.
The German officer was played by Paul Busch, who played in several episodes. He also played in The Devil's Brigade as the commander of the German garrison on the mountain.
Robert Duvall again without a guest star credit at the beginning? That's 3 appearances I count for him, the German booby trap dude, the German medic & now this guy. He only got guest star credit as that German booby trap dude.
Ok I am going to watch all over again go back to season 1 just an amasing series
Yes!!! Beautiful! Love this show!!!
Lonesome Dove is my favorite movie of all time Robert Duval was great in that
Brings back good memories
Patton: We fought the wrong army.
This series was the best of the '60's war programs on TV. I also remember the Gallant Men running about the same time.

@12:42 Seems like I remember seeing that same building in an earlier episode and Lt. Hanley blows it up.
I couldn't wait for Saunders to get out of the phony situation in that house and back into action again .
Always loved Claudine Longet. She just makes a fella melt....

The same with me for STAR TREK -Tos in the early Seventies.

Well, there was that bit in "Apocalypse Now"....

Did anyone from Combat get promoted?
The German officer was played by Paul Busch, who played in several episodes. He also played in The Devil's Brigade as the commander of the German garrison on the mountain.
yes, there were some actors I have seen in other movies with similar topics and on STAR TREK - TOS even
He also played a German officer in one episode, so he had a lot of Combat time.

She killed her boyfriend.
Your not kidding,, they really cast some beautiful women actresses on combat....
Robert Duval is a terrific actor. He obviously didn't have much time to work on his French.
Yes ....he did.
Why wasn't Duvall in the opening credits as a special guest star ?
The didn't get big until after the Godfather movie that was the one he got his name from
Did you know Robert Duvall was the original Frank Burns in the movie MASH?
