Sarge reminds of my dad. Very quiet but sharp and tough. His war was in the Pacific on the u.s.s. John d. HENLEY ( DD-553). He won 5 battle stars and a bronze arrowhead. Never talked much the war.
Was it a Fletcher class destroyer? those DD's were buidlt just before the war or during the war. Indeed, they participated in the pacific, among many places, and even in some cases a few were hit by kamikazes. As Argentine interested in militaey history amazes me how many ships the US buildt in only a couple of years (1942-1945), for instance, 175 Fletcher class' destroyers and 120 Balao class' submarines. It must have been an extraordinaey effort in terms of economy, particulaly in the home front. In some cases these WW2 ships were fit with FRAM programs in the postwar and kept into service; in other cases these ships were sold o transferred as part of the Foreign Military Program in the 50's and 60's. In South America for instance, Argentina, Chile and Brazil had these ships transferred, that's why I was asking. Some of them were kept in inventory as far as early 80's.
I was a Veterans Affairs nurse for 35 years. The vets would only talk about their combat time with others that had similar experiences. Vietnam Vets in the early 1990’s would not talk about their combat time from the early 1970’s. It takes decades for a combat vet to open up. Some shell shocked WW2 Vets would duck under their beds when we had fire alarm drills at the end of the month. Some shit never ever leaves your mind. God Bless them all.
I would run home from grade school everyday just to watch Combat and Sergeant Sanders, then soon after they started making it in color which was really great. I went on to graduate from high school and enlisted in the US army largely due to watching this series as a young boy. It came on everyday at 3:30pm to 4 o clock back then on channel three, we had a antenna on the roof with a set of rabbit ears which brought the station in most days in Black & white back then, eventually it later come out in color eventually the tv series ended. Sadly Vic Morrow later died tragically while starring in a Twilight program , a helicopter crashed during filming and the blades decapitated Vic Morrow. While he was carrying a small boy in his arms during the filming both he and the little boy were killed sadly.

Thompson magazines. Similar to a pilot's jacket. But usually all uniforms at the time were rather different. I would say it was a quite modern uniform for an Army in 1944.
This is filmed at the Korbel winery California champagne, right in Guernville Ca. The opening jeep scene drives right by the still there winery and the still there Brandy tower. The guest actor is Phillip Pine, none other than the infamous, notorious Colonel Greene who led a genocidal Civil War in post-World War Three United States in the late 21st century in the Star Trek episode, "The Savage Curtain", 1967.

Before rifled muskets/rifles you hardly needed sights. That's why in the American Revolution the scattered American woodsmen with their rifled pieces were picking off British officers. Brits complained that it was unsportsmanlike to use aimed fire from concealement. Probably about that time the phrase; "All's Fair in Love and War" was originated... Happy Thanksgiving!
Caje and Sgt. Saunders work so well as a team. Caje never backtalks Saunders or shows any sort of disrespect and of course he's vital with his command of the French language. And Saunders is all business rarely getting emotional. They operate like a well oiled machine.
Why would a soldier run out in the open when he was under a bridge where he was hidden while the krauts were walking across it. I know l L J has been shot several times in this series. If he keeps doing stupid things he's going to keep getting shot. I know this show is fiction but the writers should know a soldier with L J'S experience would probably never do this. Thanks for the uploads i. enjoy watching them even with the mistakes the writers make.

Not quite.English Rifles were normally in front of the lines, and they used aimed fire,to pick out single targets, like officers. The French voltiguers had not rifles, but acted as scouts,as well.At Corunna,Tom Plunkett supposedly Killed General Colbert at 700 yards, with a Baker-rifle.For more on Rifles, check out the Richard Sharpe-series.

THEY WERE MY TV HERO'S ! HOW MUCH I WOULD LIKE TO ME ANY ONE OF THEM !. REST IN PEACE VIC( VICTOR) AN RICH YOUR GREATLY MISSED AN LOVE BY ALL WHO WATCHED "COMBAT". FROM DOC IN OZ LAND
Sorry to have to tell you, but Pierre Jalbert has passed on. We
appreciate his exceptionally performance as Caje.
Vic Morrow is SGT.ROCK
Always wondered why Sgt Saunders wasn't promoted to a higher rank like a Capt. Or Lt.
Lee Zeidel Ahhh, who needs the paperwork . Dangerous missions were his thing.
Very popular series most i liked😄👍
awesome as expected!!
Happy Thanksgiving!
very few times on a patrol, will you see aim and fire, usually the enemy shows, and a firefight breaks out, over very quick. sometimes too quick!
Historically very close to the real time combat god bless them all our great patriots
Hysterically nothing like it at all!
Poor Caje, always gets stuck on point!
matt holland. He's the best rifleman and right hand man in the squad! I always wondered why he was not a Technical Corporal since he spoke French.
You always put your best on the point & rear in any combat engagement.
Caje and Sgt. Saunders work so well as a team. Caje never backtalks Saunders or shows any sort of disrespect and of course he's vital with his command of the French language. And Saunders is all business rarely getting emotional. They operate like a well oiled machine.
You notice Kirby was tail end "charley", the BAR would never be the last guy the line, lose the SAW and you’ve lost a good deal of your punch.
I'd rather be on point. PICK UP YOUR WEAPON AND FOLLOW ME...... I AM THE INFANTRY!!!!!!! LHS
Little John was a person you didn't want in your squad he was a buffoon and a clumsy ox who put the others in danger good acting from that individual
Actually, one of the better episodes...
Thanks for the uploads i. enjoy watching them even with the mistakes the writers make.
gene19431 because he’s a big 10 years old kid
I thought the same thing, why not give it a minute or peek out side the bridge see if it's clear where they can't see you. Before you make a mad dash.
Happy birthday little John.
I've worked apple orchards b4 & the amount of windfall apples on the ground tells me that orchard isn't earning anybody nothing. :))
Btw if u don't knock off the excess of buds while they're growing you're going to end up with a million small non marketable apples. Lol
@@scottstewart1974 We interupt this growing season for a little thing called war.
I saw this before I saw that shot. Wow, that's a ton of apples going to waste! Studio probably bought out the orchard to film in.
Little John a soldier who will do anything for another combat man. He makes one mistake and he gets rolled on.
Littlejohn made himself responsible for saving his comrade who had been wounded because he had left his position to get back his birth cake.
That was cool!!! Sarge & the boys cutting down those krauts at 22:00 & 23:00. They gave "em a Whole Lotta Led!!!!! HEHEHEHEHE!!!!!!! LedHed Steven
Wow, randy 95023 and GoldenWinger001 I can’t believe I’m reading something that actually sounds like and intelligent exchange. Thanks I like this.
Gives me something to ponder, and possibly do more looking up on the subject.
I still love Combat, fiction and all.
Little John, you can't have your cake and eat it too. Must watch em' all!
Q triste fue eso del accidente 😢grande actores recuerdo de mi infancia brillara x siempre ❤😢
That Mission was a piece of Cake .
brian wills literally

So good I was 10 for this one. It's nice I don't remember any of them LOL.
"I'll Always Love & Adore August 21ST, 1989"
He was a farm boy from Minnesota, and an expert marksman, he never missed. 1 bullet, 1 kill.
Simple answer:
you're taught to shoot at the area of fire. You are to aim at visible targets.
Basic training ft Leonard wood, mo
If Littlrjohn ever gets promoted I will quite watching the remaining episodes
Numb nuts takes a birthday cake on patrol. Almost as dumb as the time it took a bike on patrol. LMBAO!!!!
Where was he gonna leave it , that no one would eat it , or not come back to same spot? Get sent forward or diferrent area of battle lines.
Wooderd Saunders Yea, he was under orders. From his Ma but an order is an order, lol.
the fight scenes are intense...the unique sound from the german's guns
Amazing how that cake stayed in shape when Little John got down into prone position when the Krauts attacked. 😅
Kirby and that BAR is 'the most'...
If I would have had a blunder like little john in my outfit he would been peeling spuds for the whole war.
happy birthday to anyone who has one today
Isn't it about time for Sgt Saunders to become SSgt Sauders?
must have at least six years service...only in the war about 3 years at this time. Sure he had a lot of medals, though.
Xjna la prinse sa guerrera
I admit that these actors were pretty good at cover and concealment like real soldiers.
