Like the sound of the Hushpower muffler!
This was a good one, I’ve seen so many muffler comparison videos and this one is my favorite simple and quick to the point!
The problem with this test is that the exhaust is vibrating on the jack stands--the mufflers all sound good until you rev it up. If they were isolated better, you would hear the muffler sound instead of the rattling coffee can sound.
I like the super 10s they have more of a hotrod sound as opposed to high pitch
Videos dont do any justice for any muffler
the super 10 and Hp2 shortie have my votes!
That car has some wide ass tires
I like this vid because it is a mock up of a real exhaust set up and you can hear all the different series. Thanks this helps
i love the open header sound
years ago I had a 93 civic with sohc vtec engine all stock and just for fun I did a straight pipe mod to it no cat and no resonator just piping straight from the header back with flex pipe of course straight up piping right to a 40 series delta flow sounded amazing very raspy had lots of snap crackle n pop sounds I liked it.
I had the Shortie on my bimmer. Man i used to shut off the radiio and roll the windows down every chance i got...just to hear that sweet sweet sound.
I currently have a Super 44 on my 01 Ram with the 318. It's loud but not loud enough and as raspy. I'm installing a Super 10 next weekend. Can't wait.
Thank you for this video. Helped make my choice.
I'm actually friends with some of the Flowmaster guys who do these particular videos and the reason this motor didn't get reved up higher is that the motor is brand new and it belonged to a customer. I wish everyone could hear all these mufflers in person, they sounded freakin awesome!!
The 40s always were my favorite
that flywheel is hypnotizing
was guna go super 44 on h pipe on 351w but now guna get 10s thanks for video !!!!
Bet your neighbor's just love you! LOL
AWESOME MOTOR ! I liked the flowmaster delta flow 40s and the hp 2 shorties . You are definantly someone that knows how to build a good small block chevy not just someone that crunches together some numbers and throws a build together in their backyard ! Thanks for posting this vid , it will help me decide what type of exhaust I want to run on my 355 vortec s10
THANK YOU!!!! I have been sayin this for years!
nice videos man!
great vid
bon video merci! good video tank!
Putting a 302 in my 1975 MGB roadster so size is a consideration. Any suggestion?
so would you recomed to run pipes and muffler tips or just dump down? I notice in the videos yall use pipes with tips?
44s Sounds nice thx
Awesome delta 44s for sure
Super 10 amazing
This is what I am getting in my 07 Ford King Ranch..04 - 08 Ford F150 Truck Mandrel Bent Dual Exhaust w/ Flowmaster Muffler Super 44 muffler. And just bought a K&N cold air intake for my truck.
Nice comparison. Thanks for making the audio so you could actually hear it. Looks like 3" pipe for all? Also, do you guys have a similar shootout from INSIDE the vehicle? I'd love to hear the difference, especially in an old muscle car. Thanks.
flowmaster the best exhaust company!
I had the 40 series and move into the super44's. I am now looking into the 10 series for my 2011 Silverado.
I have a 98 Mustang GT with a BBK H-pipe, magnaflow high flow converters with the super 40 series and its just not loud enough for me. Im changing to super 10 series this friday and im hoping it gives it that scream im looking for :p.
What cam is it from comp? Cause i have the 12-206-2 comp cam and love it.
Awesome video. Answered a lot of questions
Two 40 Deltas Plz :)
Thanks that was helpful
@BeastGT87 also wit nothing on the flywheel like a torque converter or flywheel it revs up and down so fast it really does not sound like a normal car.
What type of flowmaster do u think i should put on my 05 cadillac escalade 6.0??
Super 10 series 🔥
dat 67 chevelle in the back looks pretty sick :D
Hey flowmaster, what's the closest muffler that's similar to open headers? Would a hushpower or super 10 be the closest to resemble that open header type of sound?
Ive been looking for a new set of muffler for my 70 Chevelle. Its got a small block 350 so its about the same as the engine shown in the video but with out the comp cam. I actually had the very first model kind of Flowmaster. 42551 was the serial number and the original 40 is that muffler but with a 2 at the end instead of a 1. That muffler sounded good but I want something with a bit more bite to it. Something like the Super 10 or Super 44. Just want it to be loud like a muscle car should be.
I got the Super 10s and I'm not going back lol
Nice video, wish you would have also compared the Super 40 and the original 40 series mufflers as well though. I can't help but point out that having 3 different variations of 40 series, each with a slightly different sound, is kind of confusing. Flowmaster makes so many mufflers these days, having so many choices makes it hard to decide what to go with, but this video is definitely helpful.
@ESPViper5001 Question and I'm not being a smartass here I'm being serious because I was thinking of running 3 inch pipes all the way, how is that not good for a street car pushing less than 350 hp? I have a stock 95 mustang gt, well somewhat stock it's only making 275 at the wheels for now, would it be bad to run 3 inch pipes all the way?
Ey so wats better dual flow master or a cherry bomb glass pack I want to install dem on a 1970 impala it has a 350 engine
Good job....I think I would of liked it rev d up a little more
WERE DID YOU GET THE VALVE COVERS
Is the hush power hp2 the same thing as a dbx?
hey guys you dont have to run glass pacs as well on these units to tone things down or what
yep so can i... its all a matter of preference
yall should try it with a stock 350,& which 1 is the loudest?,aneybody
Very Nice chevelle 67
Can you run the 10 series in the street?
I have flowmaster 40s on my GTO sounds great under 3000rpm above that it almost silences out you just hear the gases rushing
is this me or huspower shortie sounds quieter than regular?
50, 50 low, 40, 44, HP2 & HP2 Shorty lol can't make my mind up lol they sound bad ass!!
Thanks for the vid it was very helpful but yet hard to choose , just wondering do the 50 series sound descent enough for an everyday driver or are they to quiet you think ? I do have neighbors unfortunately. Thanks
Anyone know the average price for dual 40 series and installation?
Open headers!!
Which Comp XE camshaft is it?
Still like the delta series muffliers. Both the 40 and 50 are on my cars.
tem para gm six cilinder 250" ? model?
open header did sound the best on that engine but I have 2 super 10s on my 350z that give it the perfect tone
im replacing my stock dual exhaust with TWO 5' long x 2.50" diameter exhaust pipes.. i plan on leaving it like that, without any mufflers, X-pipes, H-pipes, or resignators, I think my car will make More Power that way, Can i get any opinions on what im going to do plz, if you agree or not?? Thanxxx.. :)
What's a good dual muffler for a V6 3.8 I never heard a good deep sound on a V6 ? Thanks !!
Before we can give you the best recommendation we'll need to know more about the vehicle itself and the tone that you prefer. Please give us a call at 707-544-4761 and our Support Team will gladly help.

open headers sounds the best
out all of those Mufflers I think S 44 sounds the best
Hushpower shorties
get the super 44's. they have a deeper tone than the super 40's. I have a 283 with super 44's that sounds meaner than most 350's and 383's. But, you have to be ready to live with the bass rumble in the cab. The ear banging resonance that reverberates in your chest and ear-drums with the super-44's is intense. I love it though. Its a hot-rod, right? Balls out!!
are the 10s stret legal?
Super 10 series !
do your mufflers have some kind of marking on them? I have flowmaster on my car but I wanna see which one it is
+SLAVCHEG They do. If you have a single outlet muffler, the part number will be located on the outlet side of the muffler case. If you have a dual out muffler, the part number can be found on the inlet side of the case. Once you locate the part number, visit,www.flowmastermufflers.com and enter it into the search bar on the upper left-hand side of our homepage to see what series of Flowmaster muffler you have. If you have any additional questions or are having trouble locating your muffler's part number, give us a call at 707-544-4761 and we will help you figure things out.
i have the super10 on my truck this video doesnt do it justice i have a video uploaded that shows what its really like
those HP2s sound nasty!! however, i would like to hear all of the mufflers w/an H pipe set up. x pipe gives the muffler a higher pitch. GREAT job though flowmaster! very entertaining & helpfull. HP2s who knew??
I'm looking for stock type quiet mufflers, I want them to as quiet as possible even when I lay into it. 71 Torino GT 351 Cleveland factory 4v auto with 2.5 pipes any recommendations?
For the best muffler options take a look at the Flowmaster 70 Series or the 50 Series Big Block muffler. These are our "quietest" replacement mufflers that will offer a mild to stock type exhaust note, nothing overbearing. You may want to give us a call at 707-544-4761 and talk with our Support Team about all of your muffler options.

Idk ,mann that hushpower shortie has a nice tone ,
The shorties sounded the best for this motor IMO
Matanga dijo la changa me parece muy buen very nice
bryan chavez jajaja
It will me 2x 10 series for me:)
@ESPViper5001 your opinion not mine and if you lose power why do drag cars run open headers
Honestly Open Header Sounds Best.
hP2 2nd best
YES! I love a good small block chev.
so, hush power and hush power shortie are the quietest ones??????? Please answer, need your help
Yeah, that's why they're called HUSHpower.
@DPense Because it's a drag engine. Big difference between something for the street and something for the strip. An engine with such power would benefit from no back pressure. The faster you get the air out of an engine with forced induction, the better. Why do you think there are guidelines for exhaust piping? You should only go above 3" if you're putting out 300-350+ hp and so on. There's a reason.
Either way, do what you want, but it's not good for a street engine to be running open headers.
Need to let it idle longer
I wanted to hear the 80 series
i got that motor,,, with the hushpower pros... want me to post a video?
i think the H pipe sounds better then the X, expecialy on the deceleration, you don't get that raspy sound
best for a 06 f150 5.4 XLT 4x4? looking at the original 40 series 2.5 outlet
Hi,
If you are looking to install an Original 40 Series muffler on your truck we would recommend part # 8042543. However, if you would like to discuss different exhaust options for your truck in greater detail, feel free to give us a call at 707-544-4761.
-Team Flowmaster
i think the vibration on the stands took away a bit of the sound
They all sound good idling. But I personally dont like the reving sound. But its still nice.
This is a helpful video but as one guy said, videos never do mufflers justice. If you do this again use a free decibel reader on your smart-phone. Decibels are logarithmic so 80 is TWICE as loud as 70. And 90 is TWICE as loud as 80. Those 44s start to hurt the ears at close distance and can be annoying inside the car on longer road trips. Before you buy, try to hear them on a car with similar displacement. As they say, the 44s or louder will "wake the neighbor."
super 10's are the best sounding by far should have got them instead of my dnomax bullets
what would you prefer, for a 71' Chevelle
+Edgardo Baclaan Our recommendation will be based off of several factors such as how much power your car makes, any mods that you have done and how you would like it to sound. We have a bunch of stuff for the '71 Chevelle like headers, complete exhaust systems, mufflers and more. If you would like to see what we make for your car, click here: bit.ly/1VA0Li9
For a personalized recommendation or if you have any other questions, give us a call at 707-544-4761.
Hi. I have a 6-cylinder Ford Fairmont.
Which you recommend?
+Carlos Alvarado Flowmaster offers a number of different mufflers depending on your personal sound preferences and vehicle specifications. If you would like help deciding which Flowmaster muffler is right for you, call us at 707-544-4761.
If your gonna run Flowmaster's or any Chambered style mufflers, i would not recommend running a X pipe unless you want that raspy sound, H pipe is the way to go if your looking for that throaty muscle car sound
open hedders sounded the best
10 series sounds best! now lets hear that bad ass chevy 2 in the garage!!
LOL YOUR PROBABLY RIGHT!!
actually he says it has a mild cam in it, you proud of yourself now
i can say the same stuff about every chevy engine and this one as well
