the sound of original 40's brings back allot of memories.
The original 40 sounds good but that super 10 is where its at.
I was really surprised by the hushpower round mufflers. Really nice deep tone.
1:00 his neighbors must love him.
Here's a breakdown list of the mufflers:
Open headers - 0:45
70 Series - 1:10
Super 50 Series - 1:33
Hushpower Pro Series - 2:00
Super 40 - 2:35
Hushpower Shorty Series - 3:05
Original 40 Series - 3:40
Super 10 Series - 4:10
I loved how the Hushpower pros and the 10 sound on that engine.
my favorite was open headers haha ;D
10 and original 40
Bingo!
This video so amped I immediately bought a pair of 40 series after watching it!
I like the hushpower sound very mean...
Me too it had more roar and less whistle. It has more of a performance tone.
I have the 10 series on my 1988 5.0 LX. I have Hooker full lengths and a catless h-pipe as well. It sounds amazing. Extremely loud but also very, very deep. Not raspy at all like those junk SLP Loudmouths. Even before I had all the work done to my car the 10 series sounded great. If you're looking for the loudest mufflers around that also have that deep rumble, nothing compares to the 10 series!
man this is what i have wanted to see and hear since i was about 14 years old 30 now thanx guys for taking the time
FINALLY SOMEONE WITH THE BRAINS TO SOW AND TELL HIS PRODUCT YOU JUST MADE MY YEAR!!!! THANKYOU 67 ELCOMINO IVE BEN GOING ALL OVER TO CAR SHOWS AND MUFFLER SHOPS TO FIND THE SOUND I WANT THE 406 EVEN CHANGED MY MIND OF THE ENGINE I WANT THANKS
This is exactly what I was looking for to compare - thanks!
Nice video to show the differences. Thanks for posting this to showcase them.
Nice job guys. Thanks for taking the time to do this..
I liked the super 10. That one was the best. Sounded more aggressive and beefy.
all of the mufflers sounded awesome. i have a 50 series delta flow on my 1988 chevy 4.3 and it sounds awesome for a V6
Flowmaster original 40 all day!!!
Thanks for this vid : we can really listen the difference and it's good you propose a muffler which not make too much noise.
I like the open tubes! lol
Like the Super 10 Series! I have Super 40's on my 1970 GTO and a Super 44 on my 2004 Jeep GC 4.7 V8. I love the sound every Flowmaster gives. The perfect tone with the right amount of volume. I will always buy Flowmasters for any car I want to change the exhaust on.
Super 10 by far...
You read my mind!
Amazing video bud! Love the exhaust tones man. I have the series 10 on my 347 stroker =))
Original 40 Series FTW
OG 40 series has a great sound! That motor is SICK!
Hush Power sounded good. Very clean and crisp.
Awesome test!
Thanks allot! helped me pick out what i wanted!
They all sounded great. If you really listen, there is a different rumble to each one at idle. I put the 40 original on my 3.5 V6 and I am actually stunned that it doesn't sound like a bumble bee. It sounds great and I can hear how the exhaust flows smoother, listening with my window down :) Nice car man!! Engine too ;)
Love the sound of that motor!!! Thanks for the amazing video
By the way, from the ones you tested, I liked the original 40 the best .
Nice vid with a real life engine. I like the hush power mufflers. My neighbors didn't much care for my Borla's on the last chevy, I don't care for the factory muffler nor do I care what my neighbors think.
I have the 40 series flowmaster on my chevy s-10 1998 & sounds good & I love it :)
Thank you for the demo,I was going to buy some dynomax but I don't think so I really like the
Hushpower Shorty Series
Hi Flowmaster! I love the new hushpower pro series mufflers! Love them so much I put them on my 2003 BMW M5. I have uploaded videos of my set up. Headers, custom x pipe, no cats, no resonators, and two 3" in 3" out Flowmaster Hushpower Pro series mufflers. Thanks for the awesome products!
Great comparison, Thank you:-)
should have used a mildly built 350 with a slight cam because thats what the market out there and most of the customers own are slightly built or stock 350s with bolt ons
Awesome vid!! Should do one with the 60 series for 4 bangers maybe a turbo ecotec one lol I could listen to flowmaster all day. Had a super 40 on my truck sounded amazing!!.
very good job...definately shows the different tones.
it is more the tone of a sound than the level that is important, bigger is the muffler casing , lower is the tone and more pleasant is the overall sound
always remember that noise is an important cause of driving fatigue
Saving the best for last Super 10 :-)
its weird how much different an engine under load sounds
thanks for make this video I like the original 40
straight headers!
Im still a fan of the flowmaster original 40 series.
Super 10 is my choice.. bad ass!! That and a thumpr cam is next on my list for my C3 vette.
nice video. just what i was looking for to decide whether to keep the original 40s or change.
excellent video, the only thing is missing is the DB meter
Thanks that did help me alot
Very helpful thank you
i have a 1997 Sonoma 4.3l with the 70 series cut off just after the cab. Sounds Amazing! :)
After this video I'm thinking about getting the original 40 series for my 66 c10
Excellent video ... Thank you
Awsum video very helpfull thank you
@benii02 Flowmaster has a dual exhaust kit for your car that bolts up to your midpipe and then splits to 2 mufflers and 2 tailpipes. The part number I found using their website is 17276. They say when the car is idling it has a sound similar to a V8.
@illatu2 deffinately super 40s. Great sounding muffler.
I would go with the hushpower bro series and shorty series and the super 10 series. those sounded the best to me.
beast of sound!
I wish that you guys might test some things out on a ford 302 from the 70's I think that would be worth seeing but I kinda want to find out because I have a 1976 ford F100 custom with the 302 in it but never done anything to it yet it's all stock
Holy smokes that motor sounds mean as hell
I got the 10s on my 70 Chevelle and it's the best
HUSHPOWER PRO SERIES “SHORTY” is my favourite sound. And that comes from an AUSSIE
very nice video, i think the flowmaster 10 series is for my mustang 2004
@michaelmyers1993 I dont think the comparisons are that close but Flowmasters do have their own tone and there are like 12 options of series to choose from to give you different volumes and tones. I personally think that all glasspacks sound the same and the only thing that seperates them is the outside material (304 stainless or aluminzed steel). Dynomax, Magnaflow, Borla, Corsa, Thrush...all the same
To bad they couldn't run the motor with some kind of a load on it.
Can't go wrong with any of those choices.
Original 40 series all day. 💪
@R69X3 Man that would be great. Flowmasters sound so different on a 302 Ford compaired to a 350 GM. & the chrysler motors sound different from all others.
The Hushpower pro series have caught my eye. Im considering swapping out my 70 series for one.
@69camarodrvr
yea flowmasters just have the flowmaster tone to them, lots of people say they sound the same no matter what setup, and that whatever series it is determines the loudness of the flowmaster tone. you can hear what the actual engine sounds like with glasspacks seeing as they are basically a straight pipe
I love the Hushpower series.
Love this video.
nice never really thought a Chevrolet engine could sound like that unless it was open headers !!
anything would sound beautiful with that set up.
70 series all day long. now do a dyno run of them all as well!
The Hushpower and the Hushpower Shorty for the WIN!:-) the Original 40 sounded great too with the hallow sound, I have the Flowmaster Outlaws and they are beast with the Flowmaster Scaverger Elite Series Longtube headers offroad xpipe the Big Mutha Thumpr Cams 06 Mustang GT
I like the "Super 50" mild sound 🚗
I had the super 10 on my 97 ram, traded it for an 05 ram with 5.7 running super 44, i love flowmaster over magnaflow for price, longevity---
super 40s for my 89 5.0L Mustang
10 and shorty sound fkn sick.
that super 10 is badass
3:10 best sounding ones in my opinion
Super 10!!🔥🔥🔥
YOU SHOULD PUBLISH A VIDEO AND SEND OUT TO THE SHOPS THAT SELL YOU PRODUCT??????AWSOME JOB!
In my opinion I really don't like chambered mufflers because they make the exhaust high pitched. I really like the laminar flow designed mufflers and the ones that are similar to glasspacks in which I cannot remember the name of them. I like a low bass rumble. But it's my opinion.
same here, thats why I just put straight pipes on my 4.6L ford
I have a Super 10 on my 2015 Silverado! 🙌🏼
SERIE'S 40 AND OR THE 10 SERIE'S 40'S TWO CHAMBER 3INCH ON MY S10 AND MUSTANG I OWNED ..LOVE THE SOUND ..
i like them all, but the 10 is ROYAL!
Great video thanks! Super 40's it is!
Great stuffk
i like the hushpowers cause you can hear the lope of the cam
How about doing the black widow mufflers compared to the flowmaster or any other muffler
I liked the hushpower shorties the best
@michaelmyers1993 I'm simply stating that using a flowbench is not the way to test exhaust, that's what chassis dynos are for. An airflow bench is great for the top end of the motor (carb, intake, heads) but once the 'big bang' happens the exhaust is hot and has soundwaves in the mix NOT cool air. And as I stated last time, if the Flowmaster is sooo horrible why is Thrush making a knock off 40 series muffler??
Have Super 44's on a 79 Vette.Sound like dirt.I think it cause the mufflers on a C3 are all the way on the end ,with no tailpipe after .The 40 series in this test are the sound I was hoping for.I wonder if anyone ever mounted the mufflers in front of the rear axle on a C3 and ran tailpipe out the back.
@michaelmyers1993 Well, good luck with the Chevelle, I had one myself and loved the car. Make sure to post a video of it when you have it in running order and give a brakedown of the exhaust you choose to run. Maybe by the time you post a video I might have my 67 done (454 with 3 inch exhaust and Shorty Hushpower Pro-Series).
I've heard they make another video like this one but with a mild motor and 2.5 inch exhaust.
that's super 10 sounds nasty!
Thanks for this video! Very difficult to judge true sound/volume levels over camera microphones, anyone know how the 3 inch Flowmaster Pro Series 12" (shorty) muffler would compare in volume/tone to the Super 50 muffler? I was told pro series was moderate vs super 50 being mild, but when I put the 16" pro series muffler on, it was almost as quiet as stock (much quieter than the super 50). Just wondering if anyone could tell me if the shorty pro series would be quieter, the same, or louder as the super 50. Thanks!
The Pro Series "Shorty" will be a bit louder than the longer cased version and the Super 50. On most applications, you will not experience a huge difference in tone between the short and longer versions. You didn't mention what vehicle you have and how aggressive of a muffler that you're looking for. Please give us a call at 707-544-4761 and give us some additional details and we'll get you the best option.
