    "Nothing can ever be easy." 100% truth!

  • @splewy

    Important thing to remember here is that decibels are on a logarithmic scale. Every 3db actually equals a doubling in sound pressure. So losing 8-10dbs as you are in most cases here is actually a huge difference, especially when it comes to those annoying drone frequencies.

      I went from a Thrush muffler in my 4.6 4V to the Series 50 Delta Flow, totally awesome reduction in drone at all rpm ranges. Quieter at idle and still sounds great when you get on it. Exactly what the video says. Great job, well done. Happy motoring.

    • @zackk695
      @zackk695 2 месяца назад +1

      This man is correct but I will say it in a simpler way. 5 decibels is a lot. I’m in car audio and 5 db’s is a pretty big difference if comparing a stock sound system to an aftermarket so on mufflers I would only want something 2-3 decibels louder at idle and maybe 5-6 decibels loud when in the gas

    • @zackk695
      @zackk695 2 месяца назад +2

      Sounded better with the 50 series. The difference in the sound is much quieter. A loud car is fun for about 5 mins then it becomes a big headache

    Thank you for the great comparison video, great editing. People often complain about how loud Flowmasters are while they choose the loudest Flowmasters lol it's an odd thing, but I like the tone of the 50s you installed, and 8-10db is a huge reduction

    Thats the best side by side comparison ive ever seen, job well done. i also had the same problem with my 94 cobra with the collector dented i think its from not pulling the h pipe on even. I switched to equal length bbk headers and a pace setter x pipe with 40 series and 3inch flowmaster tailpipes for a fox like urs and it sounds raspy and rowdy. just took my mufflers to an exhaust shop and had the outlet swelled to match the 3inch tailpipes and it fit perfect i also switched to the band clamps myself for the same reason.From your video and your car i think you would like it. I wish exhaust companies would do what you did thats helpful on making a decision on exhaust because thats as important as wheels to guys like us.

    The engine and pipe size makes all the difference in the world, my 95 5.0 is all of it's low hp stock glory, I have the original exhaust but the 4 cats are gutted and I finally removed the knockoff 10 series mufflers I put on so now I have no mufflers and the last 18" or so is 3" and it is pretty loud and it does sound pretty sexy but your car is easily louder with those 50s! I do have very little drone. My pickup has a 355 in the 350hp area with long tubes 3" pipe and turn down dumps at the axle and I ran original 40s for years and it just got so old just loud! I ended up tossing some cheap cherry bomb turbos on it and it is way quieter but still pretty loud, but it's a deep loud. But back when it had the 40s my truck idling drowned out a buddy's Chevelle that had a tired 350 and dual 2.25 exhaust with original 40s, with my truck idling you couldn't hear that Chevelle even running. Engine and pipe size! BTW you fox is pretty sick, love the sound with both, nice idle too...

    Another option which gives a more throaty sound, is the 50-series Big Block SUV. The dual-in/dual-out single muffler really knocks down on the annoying higher frequencies that make conversation hard, without holding back the lower frequencies.

    Appreciate this video, mate. I've got a 2018 GT with a muffler delete (from the previous owner) and I'm looking at getting a pair of Flowmaster 50 Delta Flows. The car currently idles around 75-80 dB w/o mufflers (according to the free app I installed on my phone) which is loud but still within California's noise limits. Looks like the 50 Delta Flows should turn that down a little bit more.
    The mufflers should help me be less obtrusive and avoid being pulled over, but California law also requires you to have mufflers to pass Smog, so I'm going to need a pair sooner or later. Appreciate the video!

Back in Fort Myers Florida… 94-95 was possibly the best street racing around… way out in East leecounty was two undeveloped areas… two separate strips “Sunni land” near Buckingham area and “blackstone” dammed near everyone was getting their Fox bodies work on by the “lethal injection” crew. Everyone ….almost everyone was running dumps with their flowmasters… no matter what series. It just sounded like heaven. And when people asked who is that?…. I would answer….

    If I ever buy another Mustang to replace my 87, I'll be probably go with a Flowmaster exhaust. In an effort to keep drone to a minimum, I'll use an off road x-pipe (they drone less than H in my experience) and Flowmaster 50 Series HD mufflers (the highest flowing 50 series, according to Flowmaster). I like the Flowmaster sound with the 302 but I want the more grown-up sound of the 50 series.
    Also if I buy one, I'm going to build a 347 stroker so it has plenty of power to back up the sound. Want to be able to dust brand new Mustang GTs.

      I think they will definitely flow better than stock, so should increase power and mpg. Should tame the raspiness of a 4 cylinder better than the 40's as well, I would think. Let us know how it turns out! I'm curious :)

      It’s gonna sound like crap. I’ve never heard anything other than a V8 sound good with Flowmasters. As for HP you might gain 1-3hp. A 1.5L engine doesn’t need 2.5” pipes and a Flowmaster muffler to breathe. Unless your vehicle is modified extensively, it’s just gonna make it loud and obnoxious with no benefit whatsoever.

    Flowmasters have been reducing exhaust cfm flow for decades. We've done flow testing and dyno testing on them and after a certain point they absolutely kill HP. David Vizard also said the same thing about the Flowmasters years ago.

      @@ThisOldFarmShop thank you! it is a nice quality system and doesn't drone or leak but getting older and wanting something more quiet at low rpm not wake the neighbors at 6am. I also want to run a panhard bar and flowmaster catback kit is supposed to work with the maximum motorsports panhard kit. Here is what it says on how it is made:
      BORLA® mufflers, on the other hand, contain high quality, continuous strand fiber bundle which is superior to the loose fiberglass packing in glasspack mufflers. This high quality packing material and stainless steel inner core construction, which is impervious to all corrosive acids, protects the packing from breaking down and getting blown out, so a BORLA® muffler never needs replacing. In addition, a BORLA® muffler is the most effective sound-absorbing device for the size, and it is guaranteed for one million miles.
