    Hello guys :) Hope you are doing well. Let me know if this video is helpful and if you'd like me to cover other books or authors. I have some other books that I highly recommend so maybe I'll do another video like this in a few months. Hope your practice is going well and don't hesitate to ask for my help if you need support!

      Hi Tara, I am very happy to hear that! They are all great books. My favorite ones though are the books from Thich Nhat Hanh. They just have something about them that make me feel good when i read them. Let me know what you think of the books you read!

    Thank you for the recommendations! I love reading and look forward to enjoying these ones. I have just finished meditation for beginners (inspirational for my mind and soul; reassuring to hear from an experienced meditator that everyone can have poor meditation days but just to keep going) and started the issue at hand.

    Hi Olivier,
    I'm excited when I see a new video by you. You give me a fresh view of mindfulness practice! I like that you provide in this video a wide variety of authors and approaches to meditation practice. I know it takes many hours to create each video and I thank you for offering the results to all of us.

      Hello Jasmine! Thanks for the comment. I just wanted to say, yes, if you get a chance, read one or all of these books. But remember that what is most important is to practice and although I have read these books and more, and learned different meditation techniques, I always come back to simply enjoy my breathing. All the benefits will start from there. Just keep that in mind because it is easy to consume knowledge instead of practicing. But still, the books will be helpful and enjoyable too. :) Let me know what you think of them!

    Read my book on meditation “Meditation and Spirituality a Philosophy” - a Path to Attain a Steady Meditative State

    I am slowly progressing with the book’s reading - I have now finished “Search inside yourself” that I enjoyed too. Easy to be read, it took time to digest and absorb the information, and to practice. I did appreciate the numerous references to scientific research (my area). I learned new things, e.g. the Tonglen meditation, which I think it’s so precious but not an easy one for a junior meditator (it was actually at the end of the book and adapted to become more accessible to Google staff).
    Have you read Chade-Meng’s second book entitled Joy on demand?
    Thank you so much for your suggestions - these books are transforming me into a better person

      What is your area? I haven't read his 2nd book but I am sure it is good too. I really enjoyed SIY, I appreciated the scientific research as well and just see the practice from another angle. The more I read about all those books, the better my understanding is about the practice. They all talk about the same thing but it's very valuable to have different perspective. Glad you're enjoying this list of books! I may have to do another video next year!

      @@PeacefulBreathing I worked as pharmacology researcher in laboratory for years, now I have a more administrative role, so I was really impressed by learning about the numerous studies conducted and that the Dalai Lama himself was supportive. Yes, each book gives a different perspective which helps complement the teachings learning.

    Hi Olivier, I have now finished to read “The issue at hand” by Jil Fronsdal. I did enjoy the book that I found inspirational and education as no familiar with Buddha’s teachings. I would like to ask you a clarification about intentions. The author says he tries to identify the intention of every day-to-day activity, for example his intention to go to the grocery store is to meet with other people. Until now I had heard of intentions as setting a “purpose” for one day or a period of time. What do you think about intentions for daily actions? Thank you, Cristina

    • @PeacefulBreathing
      @PeacefulBreathing  2 года назад +2

      I think developing setting intentions in our daily activities is just another way to be mindful of what we are doing throughout the day. It is a way to see if what we do is aligned with what we truly desire. There can be many things, gratitude, connection, love and joy, … what can be useful is at night to go through your day and see if you were present or not… without judgement of course. Does that help somewhat?

      I shared in a video the intention behind eating. The video is about mindful eating. Of course we eat to nourish our body, but there can be other intentions too like reducing the suffering of living beings, reverse global warming and “nourish our ideal of serving all living beings”. plumvillage.org/articles/news/new-contemplations-before-eating/

      @@PeacefulBreathing Hi Olivier, many thanks! Your explanations helps a lot; I am trying my best to be more mindful of my actions but I am a beginner and fighting a lot with the "monkey" wandering mind during the day-to-day and meditation.
