Buddhis never think, where you from or what your color skin and just want people stay with peaceful and understanding about stay with reality of life 💚❤
The fact that I move back and forth from Hindu to Buddhist texts shows how much these 2 religions are intertwined and teach the same things with different perspectives.
The books of Most Venarable Prof. Rerukane Chandawimala Thero are also great. The way he analyzes the Dhamma and his moderate view is truly appreciable. 1. Handbook of the buddhist 2. Basic facts of Abhidhamma 3. Deceptive defilements 4. Exposition of dependent origination 5. Four noble truths 6. Path of Abhidhamma ( Sri Chandawimala Dhamma Treatises Preservation Board )
I don’t pay attention to the books to be honest, this beautiful man and how the buddhahood he embodies is making you feel, the humble and the beauty and the smile of this man is priceless the more I look at this man the more good and humble I feet thank you master 🙏 I always imagine myself to be this man and it feels so good
Thanks 🙏Bhante for your recommendations and links where to find free Pdf's (see description box). I personally include the Dhammapada in my daily buddhist practice. After the pooja, I take my Dhammapada book and I recite one of the 26 chapters. I do this every day and after 26 days I start with chapter one again. 😊 For me it is very helpful and it makes me happy to read and to hear the Buddhas words (incl. side notes) in verses. During special moments throughout the day I remember some verses, or they come into my mind...and they teach me something...for example to abstain from anger...or how to make a good choice. It is like having a teacher in my mind that helps you to remember...a good guide in life.❤. May all of you be well and happy 🙏 Namo Buddhaya

My reccomenendation is: The Middle Length Sayings (MAJJIHIMA-NIKAYA) Translated from the Pali by I. B. HORNER London pali Society this has been my companion for the past 35 years. There are numerous good books about bhuddism, each of them reflecting the authors take. When it comes to the actual teachings, these 152 teachings of Gotamo and contemporaries as recorded by the monks shortly after Gotamo's departure are the central, most authentic, pure, genuine pices left to us. These are simple teachings adressing laymen, priests, kings, monks, ascetics, searchers. They are timeless. There are many translations of the Dhammapadda. I want to recomend two: 1) Dhammapadda by Eknath Easwaran -- written from the heart with a fabulous introduction to every chapter. 2) Dhammapadda English - Pali Edition by Harischandra Kaviratna -- a literal word-by-word translation.
Agree. I have done the same and read some of the book bhante recommended as well. When reading the The Middle length discourses, skip the first and come back to it after you read the rest. It is easier to understand the first Sutta this way. Most people give up when they start with number 1.

If you want to understand the core teachings and values of Buddha Dhamma, or the Teachings of the Buddha, start with the Dhammapada with references. It is a compendium of Buddha's own teachings. There you will know where Buddha Dhamma stand amongst all other spiritual teachings on rituals, deities, gods, creation, hell, heavens, rewards, punishments etc. There are many You Tube versions, and talking books too.
You had send me a reply but You Tube has hidden it, nevertheless I managed to read it. Thank you. Buddha Dhamma is not about seeking happiness. There are many self help Buddhist happiness books written by many monks too. It does not mean seeking happiness is not advisable, but Buddha's main core of teaching is to find the causes for our unsatisfactoriness (commonly known as 'suffering' but it is not suffering too) and finding a way out. Clinging to so called happiness does not give freedom from 'suffering'. So be careful when seeking the teachings, as it is your own self discovery and self realisation. Buddha Dhamma is not philosophy or psychology as Buddha did not teach philosophy or psychology but there are many things in Dhamma that is similar and or compatible with/in western philosophy or modern psychology. Just be aware of them. I advise you to read scholarly books written by western Buddhist monks as their writings are not based on inherent cultural, traditional practices or rituals or biases, but purely based on the teachings
I started watching your RUclips series on Buddhism a few weeks ago and have found it very beneficial. I’m curious, what is the difference between chanting and meditating in terms of benefit? What is the purpose of chanting? What is the most effective way to practice chanting?

Yes Buddhism is NOT a private property to claim it belongs to one nation, one race, one tribe, and all others should take it from them. I am glad for your brave statement. Dhammapada and Bhagavad Gita have similar profound truths. In the Ch-02 of Bhagavad Gita, Supreme Lord Krishna explains to Arjuna that Deluded Desire being the cause of Suffering and the entire chain link cycle of cause-effect, the poisons of greed, anger and foolishness. What a human life is for and how it should be lived, no one has given the best example as the Venerable Shakyamuni Buddha.
