The verse that resonates with me is Chapter 5 verse 2,
"If, as the disciple fares along,
he meets no companion who is
    better or equal,
let him firmly pursue his solitary career.
There is no fellowship with the fool."
I recently retired and moved to Thailand and believe I'm currently on a solitary journey from the state of perception to the reality of truth. I have gained so much knowledge, guidance and insight since being here regarding my purpose.

@@lance8080 Man leave often their families behind for a greater cause which benefits humanity as a whole.
Take explorers as an example, they crossed the oceans or flew to the moon. The Buddha was an Explorer of the mind to find liberation from suffering which benefited all of mankind.
He didn't leave his family for some egoistic adrenaline kick nor did he leave his family to fight wars and kill people, though defending one's family and country might be an honorable thing to do.

Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your own thoughts, unguarded.
But once mastered no one can help you as much,
not even your own father or mother.
