Wow what an advert for versa grips lol definatley happy ending
Deep in the hole is fine!
Cupping..... I actually had vaccum cups fix my Pec which was jacked up for 2 years and felt like it was going to rip in half on the stretch portion of an incline DB press, there was something bound up in there.. one cupping session and whatever was in there was gone.. So it has merit in the right circumstance... Also with a self auto cupper I fixed a shoulder injury that was nagging for 3 years and neither of those issues has returned in the last year... I think its good for old injuries that just other things cant fix.. Also nice shirt, I train at that gym all the time in vegas..
Sir make video about Max Hall channel. Son have interesting strenght and humour
So, what do you do if you NEED that wide stance to hit depth? I been training awhile & my toes need alot of external rotation and my hips need a wide stance to hit depth unless I’m specifically elevating heels a ton for quads. I hit a block if I don’t have that wide stance so don’t some ppl need a wide stance? And isn’t that ok?
well he himself said he did this:
"4 knee surgeries
Torn quadricep off my pelvis
Torn adductor off my pelvis
Triple hernia surgery
Ruptured Achilles' tendon
Completely shoulder reconstruction
3 low back disc herniations
2 low back disc ruptures"
and that is 3 years ago so no idea how it is now.
Goddamn. Looking like the Rock doesn't sound that appealing anymore lol.
So the Rock has torn a quad off your pelvis? Did it hurt?
I wonder how many of those are from stunt/performance accidents vs weight training vs sports injury from his younger days
@@In.Gy.you don't have to be injured to look like him, he probably did stunts or some shit.
@@zephirol4638 I’d imagine many are from sports and wrestling
I thought the rock and dr.mike were the same person this whole time. Kind of a Superman/Clark Kent situation.
Did you see them in the same room at any point in this video? No you did not
I think it's more of a Dr. Evil and minime situation
@@derekrodrigues6890 Have they been seen together ever?? I think not
The Thing has also not been in the same room as ……
Damn, that is funny!!!!!!
Mike O’Hearn said that the rock is 100% natural lmao
He probably was talking about an actual rock
Takes one to know one I guess
How can these people be this delusional
Everybody’s 100% natural compared to him tho
Yeah and the rock is an actual rock
The Arnold and Ronnie impressions are so frickin on point. Love it
His Arnold "Shat ahp" got me so good
I rofl every time he does Ronnie's
@@user-ii7xc1ry3xSame lmao, “Ain’t nothin’ but a peanut” always makes me laugh for something
1:05 you may not even be a stain on his feet, but it's your feet that are on my mind all day, every day, Dr. Mike!
Apparently the rock has had 4 knee surgeries, may be a reason for his lack of ROM.
The knee surgery is supposed to fix you. The reason that his knees are made of glass is because he doesn't go full rom.
@@spontaneousbootaysend that man to ATG bootcamp haha
@@spontaneousbootayCan you get real? This dude has been wrestling for how many years? Of all the sports for him to do, do you know how brutal wrestling is on the knees?
@@spontaneousbootaysurgery can only do so much in regards to certain injuries and he hasn’t just had one. Between wrestling and football it’s been several. That is going to impact ROM no matter what.
@@kwerby3285 I would love to see that collab. Doubt it would ever happen, but man, that would be awesome to see
I need chronological compilation of all Ronnie impressions, Mike came a long way since he did it the first time
not gonna lie this comment is what got me to watch the video
He creates an entire history and story behind it that's more entertaining and compelling than Rebel Moon.
Versa Gripps better be paying Dr. Mike double for these ads
😂😂😂
(((Dr mike)))
especially given they suck
@topshelfdustin3060 been using them for 10+ years they do not suck
The owner is under the table during the filming of this video, they got Dr Mike covered
NOT to mention this was before his match at Wrestlemania. So his heavy days are done this is to get some work in while no kind of risk of injury. He went out that next day and worked a match for 40 mins. Pro body builders go home and rest…and this guys still an athlete and needs to move and perform. Major difference.
You sound like a poorly educated, possibly retarded, fan boy. Good job
14:27 Holy shit, that was a great Ronnie impression
Dr. Mike is possibly the funniest fitness person I have ever seen. I absolutely the level of sarcasm sprinkled with knowledge. I look forward to every video.
Low bar. But Dom Mazzeti is the man
@@simontaylor2525I mean…. 10 years ago, maybe.
a guy who keeps make the same type of joke (homoerotic jokes) is the funniest guy to you?
@@BilboB Exactly. Mike is not funny and I wish he would go back to being like he was in his older videos. Now there is very little actual information given, but there is half of the dumb homeoerotic jokes that aren't even a little bit funny. This channel has really gone downhill.
@@BilboB I bet you are fun at parties
Yo, his Ronnie Coleman impression was scary on point😳
LIGHTWEIGHT BABY!
This was his prep for Wrestlemania so I think muscular endurance was prioritized over hypertrophy. And all his ROM is because of his endless lower body surgeries.
I don't think the Rock is worried about growing as much as possible, he just needs to keep things happening within his muscle groups. His training is partially due to injury, but he also doesn't need to train like those who are further behind in their journey. If that's you definitely follow the Doctors orders. If you are going for it, and injury free by all means.
You're the man Mike! Ive learned and continue to learn a shit ton from your videos. The more I put the info to use, the faster Im seeing gains without shredding my joints like my old ego self used to lol. Keep up the awesome work man! I (and im pretty sure its safe to assume the majority of your Subs and watchers) really appreciate you my dude!
this is some good info man wow. always learning something new on ur vids
The image of Mike and Jared dancing prompted a call to my therapist a retreat to my safe space.
I came to the comments just to see if anyone else caught that! Pure elegance in motion.
It’s the small adjustments that you recommend is why I continue to watch your videos. Keep up the good work.
Been working out consistently for 4yrs now. Last probably year I haven't really felt I have got much done. Just started the hypertrophy app. Been about 2 weeks and am loving it. Pumps have been great, I have felt sore again! Tyvm for making the app. Should've got on it day one.
Dr. Mike 2024:
“Unfortunately for the rock, like with many exercises, the benefit is Real deep in that hole.”
I need more of that Hamstring Stuff. Give me a "I'm into Hamstring Stuff" T-Shirt.
I’ll bring it back when you least expect it
Ive grown to REALLY LOVE this dude! Dr,mike.. his sarcasm 7 attitude tards things is great!! what a great guy..!
I was looking all over for your versa grips discount because i forgot mine at the gym for the 3rd time and couldn't find it, of course now i randomly see your code
hey thats me
I brought versa grips with your code! Deadlifted yesterday and hit a PR ! Thanks Dr. Mike and Drmikes code!!!!
I tend to learn a lot about working out from Mike’s critique videos!!!
I love these videos. Best series on RUclips right now
I agree, have you seen Sarah Liu? Hope he can critique her videos.
More Ronnie impressions please and thank you
Oh and Arnie too (of course)
I love you Mike.
Been stagnant for a while on lats because my grip is always failing before the end of the workout on pull days. Dr. Mike convinced me with his insightful ad read. Can't wait to own a pair of Versa Gripps myself. Sidebar, can I get a sponsorship too?
The impersonations were all ON-POINT! 🤣🤣
Thanks for the tip on the different training values of full ROM vs different portions of it.
I’m also a big fan of The Rock, and have also heard of his multiple (including lower body) serious injuries…
I was moving my own lower body in similar ways to The Rock in this video, when I’d inflamed my patellar tendons in the past (even though that was nowhere near as serious as The Rock’s injuries).
Love when dr mike uploads
This video boulders!
It def stones for sure
This content absolutely minerals
Love you and the wisdom
Dr. Mike you're HILERIOUS!
Love your videos and I gain very much informed about Hypertrophy from them (I´m a CrossFitter not a gym bro).
BIG LOVE from Israel :-)
Yeah, the Rock had several knee surgeries back in his WWE days. Tore his quad or something. I'm sure google has more specific answers
Yo dr marlon as u are now called .great stuff as always
I seldom comment on RUclips but I just wanted to say that since I started watching your videos on RUclips I feel as if I have learned so much about how to optimally work out and this has made me more motivated to go to the gym but also made me more effective at the gym and the way you that you build the learning into the entertaining content is super clever. I've been going 5-6 days a week for a few months now and put on quite a bit of weight and I love it! Thank you Dr. Mike.
Undertaker is the real final boss 😮
Can you make a video about how you balance bodybuilding and bjj training?
Dr. Mike, you seem to be knowledgeable about training in the gym as well as in other sports, such as jiu jitsu. I personally would love to see you make videos about how to train for different sports outside of the gym.
Hey Dr. Mike! When’s the RP Hypertrophy app coming to Canada? I’m only seeing the Diet Coach and Meal Planner app.
It’s not in app stores, it’s a web app. I’m using it over here in Germany, I think it should work in Canada, too!
One of my best friends is a PT in Venice Beach area. He personally knows some old Mike O'Hearn's training partners, and he told me that Mike has been in fact convinced via hypnosis that he's natural. The procedure allegedly costed him 10k $. He was told to never discuss it with anyone and always answer that he's natural
I wonder if that would work for me? I wish I believed mike ohearn was natural.
Haha 🤣
Dr Mike, please get Elec Izenson on your channel for a workout!! 🙏🏻
Hey Dr Mike, have you made any videos on stretching? You talk a lot about it at the bottom of your set and going slow. Curious on the science of stretching before and after or during your workout.
Those impressions were really good. Spot on
That was a decent King Ronnie impression.
So wonderful to see RP shouting out smaller creators like Jesse ❤❤❤❤
I love this man xD Hey so I was not aware cupping had no effect on the muscles...what about dry needling as physical therapy to release muscle tension? As a recovery method. What do you think on that?
Hey Dr. Mike thank you for your awesome Videos!
I've got a Question: since This January I started with Kickboxing 2 x a week 2 Hours( Monday an Friday) Between that I'm Training a Classic Push, Pull and Leg Split to become stronger ( for Kickboxing).
I realised thats ITS really tough to Perform Good at Kickboxing when I Trainer my legs The day before 😂.
Can you give me a good Advice to Balance that or am I putting to mutch efort in Weight Lifting?
greetings from Germany!
Awesome Work!
I think the Rock ripped one of his lower abs during WWE fighting and can't do the full knee flexion thing, remember saying him that in an interview
Same way stone cold can fully extend his right arm lol he calls it the crooked elbow
Your Arnold was on point lmao i thiught you clipped him in 😂
Feet high up on the leg press pad is great for glutes and hamstrings! Good for hip flexion and extension.
needed that advice about being too tired to finish a workout vs just being tired, thank you
like this comment if you think dr.mike should do a whole video where he talks like ronnie
We need a Jesse James west Dr Mike leg day video ASAP
He wouldn't dare lol
You should do one of these critiques on Judd lienhard, I’d be interested to see what you have to say about his training methods
These critique videos are very educational, would You be interested in reviewing the diet and training of some of the best WSM, like Brian Shaw or Eddie Hall? Their videos have helped me alot during my early lifting days so I was wondering if there was something I could improve. Great content, love the jokes! 😆
its like you knew i was procrastinating leg day. guess i cant skip now lmao
Mike, the Rock, and Knees over toes guy need to all get together
Your belt squat form snippet is glorious. Knee over toes, clearly earned over time, is pure knee strength and health. Incredible sense of humor.
Dr Mike, do a video on training with back injuries like Sciatica
Damn Dr. Mike really tucked his nuts away on this one.
Hi Doctor mike! Liked the bit on being tired. Would you say this applies to when one is feeling sick as well? As usual great stuff. Now notice me senpai
For the belt squat, it looks like he's doing a wide stance squat for glutes -- looks similar to video of Jared in the RP app
Dr. Mike, during an RDL/SLDL, if your only goal is maximal hamstring and glute hypertrophy, would you recommend keeping the barbell close to your shins or letting it drift forward with your arms on the way down?
Everywhere I can find says the ideal technique is to keep the barbell close to the legs/shins, but that seems like it would be optimized for strength and maximizing the amount of weight lifted but suboptimal for maximizing tension in the hamstrings/glutes with any given weight since letting the arms drift forward would increase the moment arm and allow you to use lighter weight while maintaining the same tension on the target muscles as heavier weight close to the body.
Basically, it seems to me that reducing the weight and letting the bar drift forward creates a similar lever arm and forces to a Goodmorning and a better stimulus-to-fatigue ratio, but nobody talks about doing it this way. Am I missing something here if I am not concerned with lat engagement or grip strength or stimulus to any other muscles during the RDL?
Would love some clarity and explanation for your reasoning on the subject!
That versa gripp ad was phenomenal
Mike is the kind of teacher/coach we wish we all had in HS… knows a ton and doesn’t take himself too seriously 💪🏽
13:40 Thank you for calling out this bullshit. This is why your channel rocks.
i like the versa gripps plug , that was smooth
Could you guys do a video on how you would train old people for hypertrophy? Would be cool to see your thoughts:)
Hi Mike.
I was on the cable pull machine yesterday and felt an aching stretch in my right shoulder close to my bicep. Am I doing something wrong in the movement or could I potentially have an injury?
In any case, how do you go about having an injury and preventing it from worsening?
Thanks in advance
Annie
Nice! You finally got the Versa Grips sponsorship you've always wanted.
congrats on finally getting versagrips sponsor!
Props to the editors. Good job.
Dancing and RP app parts in special.
Hmmm, a new study shows that it doesn't matter what you put in your body, there is no performance increase from including carbs in your diet. It would seem that the transition phase from high carb to low/no carb just makes you feel off until your body adjusts. I'd love to see you give that a gander and tell us your thoughts on it.
Hi Doc I have a question : How can you tell if your antagonist/agonist muscle pairs are imbalanced ? which indicators to use, tests, the science, what to do and stuff. Thank you
@Dr.Mike if you have muscle imblanaces, for me my hamstrings the left one get compensated for by the right when I do both. So I do single leg for two sets on hamstring curls and then 2 sets with both legs. Is there anything you would recommend to help with this?
Dr Mike has helped me a ton with the theory of working out. I don't do all that he says with days worked (I do 4 days a week, hitting each group) but he's taught me a ton. Especially when it comes to letting go of ego and working the muscle ( I'm 45, come get some 😂) but Dr Mike has helped me a ton. Jonni Shreve too is the fucking boss
Wish you would have done the discount colds before I ordered my versa grips last week.
I don't know if you have ever done, or considerws a fan meetup. But i really think you should do it Mike. Sometimes I wonder if you really know how much of an impact you are having worldwide on human (young men's) fitness and their lives. I say this only after you casually make a joke that you are nothing compared to the "greatness" of the Rock. F**k the rock, I'll take RP any day. I wish I could stop by a fan meet up of yours one day just to shake your hand, and say nothing but "Thanks." and be on my way. You f**cking rock Mike. Humanity, the internet, and myself, love having you around. Stay cool.
hey dr. mike if i click the link provided to order versa gripps from europe the shipping will be like 70$? is there a better option to order from europe?
Dr Mike is my favorite gym baddie 🥰
Scott The Video Guy knew what he was doing with that hamstring clip and I'm adding it to my routine.
Scott the video guy with the assist to Dr Mike for Versa Grip ad.
Those shorts are awesome. I want them!
Can we get a video on how you change your training g for a bulk vs a cut?
HELL YEAH he finally got the deal with Versa! I was at FIBO in Germany, bought a pair and told them you sent me, Dr. Mike. So I take like 96% credit for this cooperation.
I read some online articles where he's said to have had a few knee surgeries and a torn quad from his wrestling days; he doesn't seem to be able to go into a deep squat of any kind without burning discomfort.
Love my versa grips
this was the best ad I've ever seen
Idk sometimes like specially in the end of the ad, a little bit of Smeagol comes through in Dr. Mike
Can you do a video on training with asthma?
Hey Scott the Video Guy, why does the border for the overlaid video move with such low fps? I find my eyes throbbing sometimes with that border jittering around. Just wondering if the stutter was intentional.
Hey Dr. Mike. I saw that you don't really like alternating reps and I'd argue that it can be more beneficial for some than normal reps. My personal experience is that when doing alternating reps (especially when doing them fast with controlled eccentric) I'm focusing more on the movements and less on the physical discomfort, thus it's less mentally fatiguing. I start to feel the burn a lot later and less intense because I'm less interally focused (until I finished the set, then it hits me like normally) and that can help to push for more reps. It's especially important for me because I hate lifting, I'm only doing it for the results so every trick that makes the process less dreadful is welcomed.
Genuine question about using versa gripps - is it worth it for a newbie who is starting out really skinny? I'm 6ft and 145lbs with really small forearms/wrists, so I worry that using something like versa gripps would just lead to the rest of my body getting bigger but then I would have really weak underdeveloped forearms and weak grip strength.
I JUST saw a piece of an interview with The Rock that said he had a massive pelvic tear when wrestling. I'm glad he's still highly mobile after that. 🙏
dr mike, give your thoughts on functional training please. toda
Come for the training critique, stay for the impressions
