Cupping..... I actually had vaccum cups fix my Pec which was jacked up for 2 years and felt like it was going to rip in half on the stretch portion of an incline DB press, there was something bound up in there.. one cupping session and whatever was in there was gone.. So it has merit in the right circumstance... Also with a self auto cupper I fixed a shoulder injury that was nagging for 3 years and neither of those issues has returned in the last year... I think its good for old injuries that just other things cant fix.. Also nice shirt, I train at that gym all the time in vegas..

So, what do you do if you NEED that wide stance to hit depth? I been training awhile & my toes need alot of external rotation and my hips need a wide stance to hit depth unless I’m specifically elevating heels a ton for quads. I hit a block if I don’t have that wide stance so don’t some ppl need a wide stance? And isn’t that ok?

    Torn quadricep off my pelvis
    Torn adductor off my pelvis
    Triple hernia surgery
    Ruptured Achilles' tendon
    Completely shoulder reconstruction
    3 low back disc herniations

I don't think the Rock is worried about growing as much as possible, he just needs to keep things happening within his muscle groups. His training is partially due to injury, but he also doesn't need to train like those who are further behind in their journey. If that's you definitely follow the Doctors orders. If you are going for it, and injury free by all means.

Dr. Mike, during an RDL/SLDL, if your only goal is maximal hamstring and glute hypertrophy, would you recommend keeping the barbell close to your shins or letting it drift forward with your arms on the way down?
Everywhere I can find says the ideal technique is to keep the barbell close to the legs/shins, but that seems like it would be optimized for strength and maximizing the amount of weight lifted but suboptimal for maximizing tension in the hamstrings/glutes with any given weight since letting the arms drift forward would increase the moment arm and allow you to use lighter weight while maintaining the same tension on the target muscles as heavier weight close to the body.
Basically, it seems to me that reducing the weight and letting the bar drift forward creates a similar lever arm and forces to a Goodmorning and a better stimulus-to-fatigue ratio, but nobody talks about doing it this way. Am I missing something here if I am not concerned with lat engagement or grip strength or stimulus to any other muscles during the RDL?
Would love some clarity and explanation for your reasoning on the subject!

    Hi Mike.
I was on the cable pull machine yesterday and felt an aching stretch in my right shoulder close to my bicep. Am I doing something wrong in the movement or could I potentially have an injury?
In any case, how do you go about having an injury and preventing it from worsening?
    Thanks in advance
    Annie

Hmmm, a new study shows that it doesn't matter what you put in your body, there is no performance increase from including carbs in your diet. It would seem that the transition phase from high carb to low/no carb just makes you feel off until your body adjusts. I'd love to see you give that a gander and tell us your thoughts on it.

Hi Doc I have a question : How can you tell if your antagonist/agonist muscle pairs are imbalanced ? which indicators to use, tests, the science, what to do and stuff. Thank you

  • @juwadanah
    @juwadanah Месяц назад

@Dr.Mike if you have muscle imblanaces, for me my hamstrings the left one get compensated for by the right when I do both. So I do single leg for two sets on hamstring curls and then 2 sets with both legs. Is there anything you would recommend to help with this?

Dr Mike has helped me a ton with the theory of working out. I don't do all that he says with days worked (I do 4 days a week, hitting each group) but he's taught me a ton. Especially when it comes to letting go of ego and working the muscle ( I'm 45, come get some 😂) but Dr Mike has helped me a ton. Jonni Shreve too is the fucking boss

I don't know if you have ever done, or considerws a fan meetup. But i really think you should do it Mike. Sometimes I wonder if you really know how much of an impact you are having worldwide on human (young men's) fitness and their lives. I say this only after you casually make a joke that you are nothing compared to the "greatness" of the Rock. F**k the rock, I'll take RP any day. I wish I could stop by a fan meet up of yours one day just to shake your hand, and say nothing but "Thanks." and be on my way. You f**cking rock Mike. Humanity, the internet, and myself, love having you around. Stay cool.

I read some online articles where he's said to have had a few knee surgeries and a torn quad from his wrestling days; he doesn't seem to be able to go into a deep squat of any kind without burning discomfort.

Hey Scott the Video Guy, why does the border for the overlaid video move with such low fps? I find my eyes throbbing sometimes with that border jittering around. Just wondering if the stutter was intentional.

Hey Dr. Mike. I saw that you don't really like alternating reps and I'd argue that it can be more beneficial for some than normal reps. My personal experience is that when doing alternating reps (especially when doing them fast with controlled eccentric) I'm focusing more on the movements and less on the physical discomfort, thus it's less mentally fatiguing. I start to feel the burn a lot later and less intense because I'm less interally focused (until I finished the set, then it hits me like normally) and that can help to push for more reps. It's especially important for me because I hate lifting, I'm only doing it for the results so every trick that makes the process less dreadful is welcomed.

Genuine question about using versa gripps - is it worth it for a newbie who is starting out really skinny? I'm 6ft and 145lbs with really small forearms/wrists, so I worry that using something like versa gripps would just lead to the rest of my body getting bigger but then I would have really weak underdeveloped forearms and weak grip strength.
