Lightweight Budget Baker Tent. The Tigersden by OneTigris.

- Every now and then, a new product comes out that grabs my attention and this is one of them. As many of you already know, I am a big fan of canvas tents and in particular the classic Baker tent. The only issues with canvas in my mind, are the shear weight and bulk, outdoor gear manufacturer OneTigris have addressed this issue with the Tigersden tent.
Made from 75D PU Coated nylon, this tent weighs a very respectable 4.3kg (less than 3kg if you leave the poles at home and cut your own from hazel once in camp). It packs small and can accommodate up to four adults with ample seating space under the porch. Loads of ventilation in the door and back panel make it ideal for summer use. The other huge bonus about this tent is the price tag - around £160 makes it very good value and well within the reach of a family looking for something different with that lovely nostalgic ‘frontier’ style.
A note of warning about naked flames! Traditional baker tents were designed to be heated with an open fire under or in front of the porch area and being canvas, that was reasonably safe to do. The OneTigris Tigersden tent is made from Nylon and NOT fire resistant, it is designed to have the feel of a Baker tent and not to be used with an open fire - please observe the usual care that you would with any other nylon tent.
If you are looking for a vintage style, family sized alternative to a traditional Baker tent that is light enough to carry and light on your wallet, this might be worth a look.
Thanks for watching!

Evening folks - the link to the tent in the description box is now fixed, sorry about that - I blame it on my big fingers!
Oh, and I think it might be pronounced Tigers Den, not Tiggers Den (although I prefer that!) Thanks to those who have enlightened me.
Cheers,
Simon.
Looking forward to the video detailing the improvements you will be making to this tent.
Love this. This will sell by the ton in Australia as a 'throw in the car/truck tent'. Modularity is key to providing set up options. I was already thinking "stove jack" before you mentioned it 😍.
I've just sewn extra paracord loops on my DD 3.5x4m tarp between the factory loops, so I can use it with some old fibreglass arch tent poles- it works a treat (the laziest set-up is now 'The poly-tunnel'....configuration options are increased five-fold) . Ingenuity & fettling make for a happy camper. Quality video as always Simon, well done. Genuinely good gear⛺️🇦🇺🤠👍.
Silly not supplying the poles for the back!! Daft
Thanks Simon, great review😘 Love all your films.. Did you pay import tax etc as it's from US or Canada right?
Fat fingered it. I love it. Lol
Love rewatching these videos so I can see you and Maggie together ❤
Excellent Review Simon! One of your commentors mentioned you're right to the point without all the meandering other RUclipsrs are guilty of.
Maggie was a good sport at helping to model the sleeping space. ☺
I'm 56 years old and still chuckle every time I hear someone say "pitching the tent" Thanks Simon
You my friend have a natural gift of imparting information in such a calm and relaxed manner that one doesn't skip forward or wander off. Many thanks for getting those of us shielding out in nature. Maggie is as always a treat.
Thanks David. 👍
Very nice tent, good review.
Maggie merits a whole spot for herself! Wonderful! She's such a sweet dog with beautiful eyes...! And nice tent, too. thanks!
Slept in canvas Baker tents in the 60's while in Scouting. Lining them up opposite one another and tying the flaps of each, created a great awning system, allowing for cooking and general lounging about .
That could also be a good option for motorcycle camping as you’d probably be able to get the bike under there, out of sight.
Only when the bike is completely 🥶 🧊 cold if any of it touches the pipes or engine 🤔 you will have instant ventilation
I have a pop up camper I pull behind my bike. Put uo an awning abd park the bike under that. Works good.
My plan is a 'Lay flat' ground pitchable hammock tent with a lightweight camo tarp for the bike. Tarp can cover the bike or just block the most likely line of sight.
It always brings a smile to my face when I see you out and about with Maggie 😊
I have no intention of buying a tent in the foreseeable future but as usual i enjoyed watching the latest upload. The whole "feel" is still there and just right.
Great review of the Baker tent . Beautiful Maggie watches and cheers you along withe her presence ❤️4/18/24
Something about the shape of it brings back memories of my first camping trip with my parents, Lake District 1967. It was canvas with steel frame and lacking a groundsheet! My Dad said he had not experienced rain like it since the monsoon in India in 1945, so we packed up and went to sunny Norfolk.
Great Bloke with always good information from biking to canoeing to backpacking. Thanks much!
Simon, I just seen this video today. I am hoping to make one of these myself for a year or 2 and this review helped me iron out some kinks, Cheers
What a neat tent. It's very versatile. Nice to see Maggie! 😊
Hello my outdoors friend. This was a fine informative video. I like the tent. All best to you. Stay healthy. 🤗
An ideal tent for us to use in our neck of the woods. Good review thanks. Maggie sure looks at home in there in her new dog house. Bushyboy Oz.
Big enough for 4 people...or one and a BIG dog. 😍 Sweet Maggie just makes my day every time you bring her on. It's a nice looking piece of gear. Glad to see you and Mags get out to test it for a day. Stay well over there, Simon.
Always such a pleasure * Thank you Simon & Maggie :-)
Thanks for sharing this lighter weight Baker Tent Simon. While the one you made is more of a work of art/heirloom piece, this is perfect for us needle-through-the-thumb non-sewing types!👍
Mark and Diane, Happydale
I think that's just wonderful Simon
Awesome looking tent and top review. Liked the idea of an added panel with a stove jack.
Interested in this item.
The whole time I watched this, I was saying "stove jack?", then in the end, you mentioned how you would do it!!! Great minds think alike!
Yes, I must admit that crossed my mind also.....!!
You never mentioned how to buy one without the wife finding out. I've used up all my borrowing from a friend allocations :) I'm looking for a new tent and this is almost perfect. Thanks for sharing.
Hahaha - a problem I know all too well! 😁
Nice big dog. Thankyou for sharing.
Just bought one .Simon, thanks for the excellent video!
Great review Simon. Looks like a good product and at a reasonable price.
Quite honestly, I look forward to your videos. I’m not an outdoors person, although I believe I could have been in a former life. I enjoy the soothing music, the simplicity of the surroundings and your storytelling(especially for trips you have taken). I’m definitely a sub and have already started on past videos. Thanks for the calming nature of your videos.
Thanks goodness you wrote, "could have" instead of " could of" I like you haha
Thank you!!
Nice piece of kit. I recently purchased a OneTigris Smokey Hut with the internal mesh tent included and I love it. I'm very impressed with OneTigris' innovative designs and high quality for such a reasonable price. I think they are filling that market niche quite nicely between cheap, low quality, department store tents that can be a liability and the underwhelming, overpriced ones that tend to simply align most of the cost to a brandname. I also like how OneTigris seem to turn out new designs every few months or so, providing a breadth of customer choice.
Thanks for the great review Simon and always good to see fuzzy-headed Mags with you again! Take care and ATB to you and yours. - Darby
Thanks mate, I think they’ve got a pretty good, young innovative design team, they also like to work with outdoor enthusiasts to advise in their designs. They’re a good company. 👍
That's going in my Defender to attach to the awning, awesome. 👍
Thanks for the video, your rare reviews are so matter-of-fact, nice. Give Maggie a hug from all of us. Take care.
Nice informative vlog as usual from you Simon looks a good lightweight product thanks for sharing
I loved the baker tent you made, said it at the time, awesome skill and great outcome. This looks good. I like the style of this type of tent, as usual, great video mate. Enjoyed your video with Kent survival and the two versions you both put out. Great stuff.
Great tent had mine about 3 months now got it for motorcycle camping so far cause of covid only pitched in garden but will suit all my needs spent a few nights in it a fab bit of kit thanks for review
Simon - you always play the sweetest music in your videos. Love this tent. I have been looking for something like this one.Thank you for the video.
another great video.thanks for uploading.love your content.keep up the good work
Excellent vid per usual, thank you! I do hope you make a video of your modifications to this tent. Cheers!
Am here so amaze of your love 4 nature an bushlife but i really love u cooking al the nice fire food looking on from 1 of the Caribbean Islands
Informative revue and a great looking piece of kit, but with no family and no big or small dog it's far more than I'll ever be needing.
This is a legit, versatile option. Seeing new practical shelter options gets me HYPE. thanks Simon.
Well done Simon. Thanks I may have to give this a try
Neat tent, good to see You & Maggie out and about. TAKE CARE..
i hope one tigris is watching because ive seen ohh lord so many reviews on everything ...but i gotta say simon has a radio voice that instantly recognizable ....but like his videos high quality very very professionally done got his facts straight honest id buy anything he says is good !!! yer the best at what you do simon !!! 🌲🇨🇦🌲
I appreciate your remarkably balanced review of this shelter. You gave me all the information that is relevant to my situation. Thanks
Wow they did a real nice job of that tent, And it was a great video showing off the pro’s and cons of it..
My only gripe would be that the inner door being mesh would be better if you could have a nylon door included into that mesh so you could have mesh or nylon and mesh to protect yourself from the weather and add privacy whilst still leaving the porch area in tact..
BUT that’s not a game changer and as soon as you said this thing is around £150 I instantly added it to my “I’m having one of them” list 👌🤣
Atb mate - Damian
Another door option that I thought of afterwards, is to use the front panel as a sort of curtain door - I’ll try it out next time I put it up. 👍
Only found you the other day, but I love your videos, thank you :)
I like that the tent is much lighter weight than the Baker tent and gives you so much room. The extra piece you mentioned you’re going to add is a great idea. Maggie has the most beautiful eyes. She is a gem. Thanks for the review and see you again soon. Be safe.
Nice review video Simon 👍. The weight & set up of that is Awesome 👌.
Well done Simon good review on the tent, Maggie enjoyed day you and Maggie take care 👍
Now that is cool, really liked your Homemade Baker Tent and this could be just the ticket for what I want. Thanks Si for another great video, keep the content coming 😉
now thats a tent. Maggie love it
Thanks Simon, great review, truly appreciate the time you spent on this.
Thanks for the review. I’m ready to see it in action!
Brilliant video simon great tent well done
Thanks for that review Simon - really useful. Just great to see another vid from you - looking forward to the next one!
Enjoyed the video Simon, thanks for putting in the time to make it. Looks like a really useful tent, particularly if you need a bit of a workspace area.
Will
Great video/review.
Looking forward to seeing your improvements.
They should call it the One Tigris Maggie Edition. Mags looked right at home in it. Thanks for another video, Simon.
Thanks Simon for making this a very interesting video, it looks a great tent, i see Mags is into the acting now showing off the tent space thanks for sharing 👍
Looks awesome Simon. I'm going to look into that. Thanks
Nice post Simon and the dog looks well and happy, a lovely place to be. Very interesting setup and good to see an impartial review, there are so many tents on the market now, spoiled for choice. Thanks for sharing.
I watched this a few times just because your a good guy, Simon. Very friendly person you are! Thanks for what you do, camping buddy!
Thanks mate. 👍👍
Nicely done again
Now this is really something of interest to me. I loved the bungalow and was going to purchase one but was thinking all these months after see your canvas Baker tent wouldn’t it be ideal if someone came up with a lightweight version and here it is.
I was thinking all the way through Simon, I’ll be sticking a stove Jack in the and having my Outbacker stove in there and low and behold you said it 😂.
Great shelter, thanks for sharing it 👍, Ant.
Haha -great minds Ant! 😁👍
Simon: "I'm going to modify it......."
Everyone: "we are very surprised to hear that!" 🤣
Looks very good. The mods will make it excellent. Look forward to that video.
Although I do find it strange that the nylon is so problematic with heat, but the stoves are okay, like in the hot tent from onetigris.
Not problematic with heat, but with sparks. Using stoves that don't spread sparks should be fine.
Even the baker's tent will burn as it is a load of wax soaked into cotton, but it's heavy enough to cool down little sparks until they are no more danger.
The nylon is easily holed, melted by sparks and flame, but using a stove to contain the fire and a stove jack as an insulator against the heat of the stove pipe keeps it safe (ish) 👍🔥
Great review Simon. Looks like a very versatile tent. Thanks for sharing.
Hi buddy what can I say a other great video u are doing a great job on making theses video keep up with the great work mate looking forward to the next video stay safe
I think that was a great insight video to the product, from someone who knows how to make this kind of kit and the experience you have carries a lot of insight. I'd never seen this kind of tent before but now I want one....possibly a bit much for a wild camp but my kids would love it
Great review. I’d stay away from fire near the tent but hey in Canada cooking near your tent attracts large critters. Thx for the work
I agree, fire and nylon - usually doesn’t end well! Thus the tent heater, stove jack panel idea. 👍🔥
I’ll be interested in seeing how you make a the extra panel to accommodate your lightweight stove with chimney, great vids thanks for your time 🙏
Great review, sir. I do like the lightweight virtues of this tent, and your proposed mods for a stove. That is brilliant. I'm former military with a medical background, so canvas is in my blood, but it is definitely heavy stuff. I'm so glad you included Maggie, as she is such a sweetheart. Gotta love Newfies.
I appreciate your review and your opinion. Well done, sir. Thank you for this.
Well done Simon
That would be a perfect addition to a two week elk season camp in the rainforest.
Hi Simon
A first class review of what seems to be a decent product..as you pointed out it does have its pro's and cons...for my money it looks a little thin and flimsy and wouldn't do well in winter conditions.
Still love your baker tent...that's a proper job..👍👍
Thanks Phil, definitely more suited to balmy summer camping. 😁👍
Three panels and a stove and stove jack make it great. My new dream tent.
Very Nice and looks easy to put up!
This looks a great bit of kit. I like your modification suggestions too. Especially the extra side panel with the stove jack idea. I was waiting to hear about your recommended mods. You can’t beat a good mod! Thanks Simon. Atb oMo
"...or, one and a big dog." Lol! Poochie is bigger than you, Simon! Thank you for an ace review. 😉🇨🇦
Good review, simple easy straight to the point wish everyone would do this, you know exactly where you stand what your getting.
I agree with the side wall and stove jack that would be a cracking idea im surprised one Tigris didn't do that. Nice tent though think I might pick up one myself
I have been eyeing a few of One Tigris products. Was the backwoods bungalow, now with my son getting camping age I am leaning towards the Tiger's Den. I have looked at this one as well and I do like it as an alternative to me never getting around to making a tent like your baker.
Thanks for this review, very interesting! Looking forward to seeing your modifications, especial the side panel with flue insert. Thinking of buying this tent and "connect" it to the tailgate of my car. Enjoyed your video! 🙏
It might be ideal for that - a bit wide perhaps, another option might be a Caranex - search on eBay. 👍
Nice one simon, Great tent and old school styling, love that. so versatile as well. And of course "The great big dog" looking super well. beautiful.
A really good video and I really like that tent.
Nice and balanced review. Thank you for sharing your initial impressions. I look forward to a follow-up after you have had a chance to use it a few times.
Be well, be safe, and take good care!
Now that looks like a great bit of kit I like the idea of adding a side Pannal for the Wood burner thanks for sharing Simon atvb jimmy 😎😎
That’s a bargain! Decent family tents can be expensive! Lovely to see sweet Maggie 😊
Love your dog. 😊😎
It is a great tent, just used it for a few nights away. One thing I do think it could benefit from is a ridge pole as it does move a bit in high winds, however having said that we were camping in quite an exposed area. I added an extra guy to each of the two main poles and this reduced it quite a bit, but a ridge would help more I think. Top review Simon, thank you.
Nice review Simon your videos are great :)
This would be great on a boat wild camp excellent thanks Simon
Great video Simon, I loved the video and the filming style!
My first "first comment" on any RUclips video ever! Nice channel by the way.
Lol if you want to hit first comments on a video swing by my channel and as long as your in the first week of upload you should get lucky 👌🤣🤣🤣
Enjoy the moment!
I wasn't planning or putting effort into it. So it was to my surprise that I got to have a first comment on one of my favourite channel here.
Nice review video.
@@BulldogBadger 😂 I can better that! Some of my videos don't even have comments! How did you get 500 subscribers? I've only got 30 🤦♂️🤷♂️😪🤣
@@THE-AIDEN-PROJECT you have subscribers? What are those?
Thank you! Thank you for the great video!!! It is a perfect tent for family!
Nice to meet you today
Very interesting tent.. and a lot for the money.
PS. Like your dog.
Nice video, Simon. I wish I had seen it about two weeks ago. My wife and I JUST purchased a new Eureka! Timberline for our canoe camping trips and this video might have led us in a different direction.
Awesome video on what appears to be a great tent. Thanks for sharing Simon! That thing looks spacious enough to be quite comfortable for a week or more!
The videos are always so informative and written well. Keep it up Si’!
Thanks for the presentation. It might be just the ticket for my motorcycle. Right about the mods. I like your canvas tent better. Everything has a spot though. Texas
