    Hey Luke! Thank you so much for what you do. I haven’t made it through all your videos yet, but I’m trying! I was actually wondering if you ever considered doing a video where you show how you store, dry out , etc your gear when the adventure is over. I’d love to know how you dry out your stuff and store it after these very rainy adventures. Cheers!

    I totally agree with what you said about black bears. They are inquisitive and if they are used to you being around, not much will scare them off. When I was young we had black bears visit us every single summer, without fail. There was a small creek/river (loaded with salmon and trout) that ran through the back of my dad's property and an orchard full of fruit trees. It was bear heaven. My dad basically taught us kids to leave the bears alone and eventually they will leave. We didn't have any problems with them, though the claw marks on the apple tree outside my dad's bedroom window kind of unnerved him a bit...lol

      I'm tiny compared to you (6'), but very broad across my shoulders with a large chest. The thing that bugs me in the camping world is the width of light weight sleeping mats... the length is always fine (for me, probably not for you :)), but I wish they made them a bit wider.

      I’m 6’1” and I dislike small tents, its not just the ability to lie straight, it’s difficult not to touch the tent accidentally with your feet or your head. more old fashioned flat ended tents are better for this. In fact in my opinion the old fashioned tent is a more useful shape overall , You know, 1’ high walls are the least of it.

    Although I enjoy the winter camps the best, I enjoy all of yours. You are quite the gentlemen. I have so enjoyed the camp's you share with your wife. As I am a married man of 53 years, I really appreciate the respect you have for your bride. These days I don't know why so many men treat wives as a competition. My wife and I enjoy sharing our strength and weakness and usually end up laughing beyond. Have you ever given any thought to the amount of people that have actually survived the extreme outdoors thanks to your efforts. I spend many days and weeks in the Nevada Desert, sometimes with Nevada BLM, advising on certain things. Keep up the great work and enjoy your adventures. I send blessings to you and your especially young Luke he sure is becoming a man. Jack Wolf

It's an amazing backup power solution for outdoor adventures. Great stuff on the Land Cruiser Luke! They have been a staple here in Australia for decades. They just keep going, you can't kill them. Looking forward to the upcoming adventures in the new 'Cruiser. If you get yourself a roof rack (or if it already has one) you can throw on a rooftop tent and a 270 degree awning and you have a comfortable camp set up in minutes...

    I really enjoy seeing and listening to your "chats" with us about gear and your adventures, both past and future ones. The series with your "new" Land Cruiser" will be exciting. I chuckle when I see you unpack your gear from multiple bags and pouches. I have been referred to as the Bag Man by hiking friends. I am now an addicted nomad van lifer and I still store my gear in Plano storage containers filled with storage bags and pouches. Everything is neat and tidy. I have been watching many Japanese You Tubers in van's and other vehicles to pick up ideas, new innovations and methods of culinary preparations. You have shown us several items thus far and I hope you continue to do so. I particularly like watching a gentleman who travels in a Hiace van. He reminds me of you as he uses a lot of tactical pouches and bags on molle mounts on a van wall. His te techniques are simple and highly efficient. BTW, I noticed a ladder on your cabin. I need to mount one on my van but I want a white one like yours.

    Thanks for yet another great video Luke! You are lucky living in such a beautiful area. I have been to the "US northern south" and I loved it. Anyone who visits there without going hiking is a fool :) Scandinavia is similar, but it gets much colder in the winter so comfortable outdoors life is only 3 seasons. I think it's good how you often remind about how the brain plays games on you, especially when you are tired, cold and hungry. I have been in situations where I thought I was in full control, but in reality had no clue. All due to darkness and stress. Keep up the good work. /Peace from Sweden!

      @Avis Burleson Not sure how testing a full range of gear can come across as bragging. He's always seemed pretty humble , and fair to me.
      It's his JOB to do You Tube reviews... and all sorts of people .. both financially well off AND low budget, depend on his educated observations.
      I'm pretty sure that any You Tuberer who came across as a 'braggart' would never gather even a fraction of the following that this channel has.
      Might I suggest you give him another try... with new eyes.

    You genuinely cant go wrong with a LandCruiser mate. Pretty epic 4x4s. They sell for crazy money here in Scotland. I opted for a classic Landrover at the time.No comparison in hindsight.

    Quick tip on the Predator Generator, take the filter out of the spark arrestor. It tends to get gummed up and cause the generator to stop working. I use two of these on our Food truck and Food trailer and this trick had made a huge difference. Best of luck and thank you for all you do.

    Luke👍👍 Great testing camp out. Tent looks good for the most part, I could see the problems with more than one person. Wondered about the lower vent during the rain/wind scenario. It ain't TOGR without rain in the mix...mostly. Next Generation Backpacking Meal??? Hmm! I bet the Kovea heater is hungry, might need several cans with you. Thanks for a stellar video once again, well done. See ya next time.

    Hey Luke I agree with you about making sides for the awnings I kind of thought about that with a lot of tense and stuff that they made they can make zip on ones or they can even make some that are automatically sewed in and gathered up in the door part where you can unzip room and they will fall into place. But I agree with you. Have a good day Luke.

    ELL, that was fun and interesting. I am excited to see your new Toyota. I set up my Tacoma for over-nightingale, but became dissatisfied and traded it in for a RAV4. That was a big mistake and I finally settled on the 4Runner which is just perfect for my needs. However, your description of your new vehicle is intriguing. I think your evaluation of the tent awning was kind. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a tent appendage that was so non-functional. Your adaptation using the tarp really made your experience more enjoyable. You saved yourself from being trapped inside the tent. Tents without a bottom are problematic due to wind and water invasion. I would mod the tent with numerous grommets and stake-down the sides to reduce the openings. Then I would gather debris and pile it around the perimeter. And, while the ventilation is awesome (a good thing), the opening also allows forest critters full access to your sleeping area and those mice will destroy your gear before you wake up. Also, snakes and spiders are creepy too. Yeah, I don’t like free access to my sleeping area which is why I sleep in the 4Runner, or a hammock. Excellent review of the chair. I’m going to look into that high-backed model. Thanks for the link. Ciao

    I was thinking the same thing about the awning. Seems like some panels sewn into the door openings, like what Pomoly has on the Stovehut only 1/2 or 3/4 of thw way down, would help protect better from inclement weather while still allowing a more open awning area.

    I am An American working in South Korea. Kovea is like the Walmart of camping stores here in Korea. There are actually 2 Kovea outlets around me. They make really good gear. Tents mmm they are alright. but the gear is awesome. You have that heater i have the smaller one i use for backpacking and it works awesome. Here in Korea CAR camping (glamping) is big here. You can get anything from any company SOTO, Hilleberg, etc..... Love your vids keep it up

    Love the little heater. I have one which is very much like that, it's called a "MARKSMAN". It runs on the same canister as that one you had. Gives about 4 -5 hours burn time on one canister when set to low heat.

Out there and they are all good but I like this channel and I have enough trust in his skills and am confident if I follow his instructions I can camp safely and have fun, my son has this tent and he likes it. Just bought this, as a 6ft4 guy its very nice having the extra leg room and plenty of head room. My only compaint is the no guy line on the back thing, have yet to try it in very windy conditions, was ok in decently windy conditions though and has been flawless in persistant rain. I've found that the porch area needs alot of 'tinkering' to find a setup that works for you, I've just been using a pair of treking poles and guy lines, one high/one low based on wind direction has worked well for me, nice area for my 1T chair and a small table with cooking gear on.
    Another negative, No proper light attachment point, Might have to try MacGyver some kind of anchor point around the part where the tent pole pushes up in the middle.
    So far though, very impressed with it, thx

    Great tent! Thanks, for reviewing it. I'm starting research tents and heaters for some camping next fall. This tent and the heater seem like candidates. I'm even interested in the chair. The fact that it can be adjusted really piqued my interest. My back is horrible. Three surgeries, two autoimmune diseases that are eating my spine as well as aging makes finding comfortable seating in the best of circumstances difficult, let alone camping.
    I'm totally with you on the black bear. Like you said, typical behavior for this time of year as they are desperately trying to pack on those last few pounds before they bed down. I remember watching that episode and wondering if you had bears in that ecosystem.
    Thanks, for all you do and I'm stoked to see the new toy!

    I'm glad you're reviewing these tents, they're not as light as typical "ultralight"tents, but they're VERY light for a standard tent. I plan on using this model with a trekking pole+extender to save on weight. I can't wait for your full review on this!

    • @SuperTrooperC
      @SuperTrooperC Год назад +1

      Maybe look into elastic packstraps as used by bikepackers and such. With two of those, i often connect two trekking poles to make a long one, and this setup works great for tents/tarp setups like the tetra. Then you could save on the extender.

    • @firemarshaldil
      @firemarshaldil Год назад

      @@SuperTrooperC thank you for the idea. I'll look into it. As of right now, I'm looking at the z-packs 10-in trekking pole extender

    • @firemarshaldil
      @firemarshaldil Год назад

      @@SuperTrooperC my main reason for using an extender instead of two poles is that I only hike with one pole.
