    This is great content Kyle! Finding info on kids equipment and bikes (from a kid's perspective) isn't easy. So having the kids actually talk about their likes and dislikes is awesome. Would love to see more like this in the future.

    Enjoy this age with your boys, because they don't stay that way for long. It just seems like yesterday that my three boys were that size. Now they are taller than me and one is away at college.

    Good job raising your boys right! If you ever find (or experiment) with a way to get some traction out of these little 65 wheels and tires let us know. Wish they had a tubliss system and or gummy tires.

    At the rate those boys are growing they are both going to need bigger bikes in the very near future which will really help improve their skill levels the smaller bikes are great for learning but because of the smaller wheelbase and wheel size they don't have the trail stability of the bigger bikes but they both do quite well on the smaller bikes.

    What is everyone's opinion on the CRF80? I know they haven't been in production for a while. I am thinking about picking up a used one for my 8.5 year old. Most of the reviews on RUclips are from older kids that have turned them into pit bikes. Thanks

    • @bradyjohnson7877
      @bradyjohnson7877 4 года назад

      I know someone whos had one for years, its a pretty decent bike they're indestructible. Its pretty comfy but it might be a little wide depending on your kids height. Its easy to work on too. The only downside is drums front and rear.

    • @mountainvalleyfrost5777
      @mountainvalleyfrost5777 4 года назад

      They were based off of the old XR80 and are claw hammer reliable. Two of my three boys learned on an XR80. They then went to a TTR125L and then graduated to YZ125 and now they are all on full size bikes. In my opinion, there is no better bike for a young kid to learn on if they fit it. Just find a good one. Preferably one that some teenage kid hasn't destroyed. The old XR100 is also a good option, but it is slightly larger frame/wheel combo and has a higher seat height.

    • @Checkyoursix77
      @Checkyoursix77 4 года назад

      I have owned several crf/xr80 and crf/xr100. Both as a kid and as a father! Great bike for beginners, I never had any problems. I would recommend TTR125 it’s a better bike.

    Do a comparison video, let the kids pick the two apart side by side. You are reaching a whole new audience currently untapped on RUclips.

    No 65cc mx bike is a good trail bike. My kids got two bikes, one for mx and one for trails. That makes riding difficult trails so much more enjoyable for the whole family. My 10 year old can ride Erzberg stuff on his TTR125.

    • @DirtBikeChannel
      @DirtBikeChannel  4 года назад

      I think my boys are doing pretty good on these bikes. I like both of these bikes better than the others we have owned. I own a Honda CRF125 just like the Yamaha you are talking about. They can both ride it anywhere, but they don't love it like these little 65s. I won't be putting my boys on that bike for the riding we want to do. Each to his own.

    • @MotoFamMayhem
      @MotoFamMayhem 4 года назад

      We also prefer circuit bike over trail bike in the woods.... Would rather make my race bike operate like a trail bike honestly

    • @Checkyoursix77
      @Checkyoursix77 4 года назад

      @Dirt Bike Channel It also depends on the type of terrain you ride and the skill level of the rider. The type of super technical woods trails and steep slippery hillclimbs we do is simply to hard for a kid on a small mx bike. No traction, denting the pipe, overheating and fouling plugs can kill the fun. Since we ride mx 2 times a week it’s great to have at least one low maintenance bike! But the most important thing is to spend quality time with your kids! 👍

      My kids ride Colorado trails on a 50 sx and 65 sx and I won’t be going to any Japanese brands with mediocre suspension and brakes for what we ride. I drop one tooth on the countershaft sprocket, run engine ice coolant, and slap on hand guards and call it trail ready. They are awesome bikes for trails. Not bashing other brands as I grew up riding XRs,CRs and YZs, just sharing my experiences.

    Wouldn't it have been better to buy a Honda CR110F ? Honda is a trail bike, KTM is an MX bike, not a trail bike.

    • @moto5914
      @moto5914 3 года назад +1

      I’m not bashing the Honda (I grew up on Honda) as they are reliable and great bikes for certain applications, but I don’t consider a heavy 1970s technology air cooled drum brake mediocre suspension bike a better trail bike. My kids are on a 50 sx and 65 sx and they are great trail bikes for rocky trails in Colorado when geared properly. They are light weight and have a very low center of gravity with very good suspension, good power, hydraulic clutch (on the 65), and hydraulic disk brakes. In my opinion, the KTMs are a much better trail bike than the Honda even in stock form. If you grow up riding east coast farm fields like I did on old XRs, then the Honda works just fine.
