Hello! I'm from Japan. I always watch your videos. Now try upgrading your Dell CPU fan. I would like to see how to handle this small case and 5 pins. Sorry for my poor English! I'm your fan.
Hello, From my own experience if you are only concerned with replacing the fan, you can find a DELL adapter for a 5pin to 4pin cable from Amazon or a similar site. This is one here: www.amazon.com/Pocaton-Female-Socket-Connector-Cooling/dp/B073XJV5L9/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=5pin+to+4pin+dell&qid=1559506058&s=gateway&sr=8-1 Then you can buy any fan from the internet or computer store and it will plug in perfect with all functionality of the tachometer pin as well as the PWM pin. On some DELL Optiplex models the CPU mounting holes line up with current Intel CPU socket types, in this case you can CAREFULLY take off the DELL backplate and hack off some of it and install a Nactua air cooler for example. Hope this helps.
Hi all, I will tell you how I turned this basic 5050sff into a very nice and fast machine. Original config was i3-7100 with 8GB ram and 3.5inch HDD. So nothing special, but this PC has hidden potential. I upgraded: 1.) i3-7100 for i5-7600. You can put there even i7-7700 but price for this one is still not so friendly, so i5-7600 is great choice and for low price. 2.) upgraded RAM to 32GB, used 2x 16GB uDIMM PC-21300 2666MHz CL19. Even one single 16GB module is very good and enough for most apps and multitasks 3.) the board has M.2 NVME slot! So I installed M.2 NVME 2280 drive Samsung EVO 970. Of course, you can put there any nvme drive such as cheaper WD Blue etc. The speed is true nvme 3500MB/S. This is the most crucial thing how to superboost this PC!! 4.) installed dedicated GPU low profile and single slot model into long PCIE 3.0x16 slot. Used Asus GeForce GT1030 2GB. Also tried the same from Gigabyte. No need to change original 180W PSU with this card! and it is great boost from iGPU. But soon I will try to change it for new Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX6400 4GB, also single slot low profile model. This RX6400 has still very low power consumption so it still could fit with original PSU, BUT I am not sure till I will try it. We will see. 5.) installed two 2.5inch SATA SSD drives instead of one original 3.5inch HDD. Now there are 3 SSD drives, one NVME M.2 SSD for system, two SATA SSD drives for data. The board has 3 SATA connectors, one for DVDRW drive and that two are great for SSD's. The only thing you need to count with, is original Dell bracket for two 2.5 drives that you can find anywhere, on ebay or so, AND extension power cable from one to two drives. 6.) installed wifi card into the free short slot PCIE 2.0x4 just because it costs few bucks:) but personally I use cable connection. 7.) installed a fan for better air flow, because in original setup you have only one fan on CPU (and of course one fan inside PSU). So I installed quiet high performance fan from Noctua. This is quite importnat because when you upgrade a SFF PC the way I did, you need to help the air flow as much as possible. Plans for soon or later: change PSU from 7050 model, it is 240W and you can buy it new on ebay for +-70usd. Also I saw a 360W version somewhere, which would fit in 5050 SFF, but I can't remember where.. lol...
Surely the power supply did not explode when you put all that xD?, although if I see it credible, but it is impossible that a GTX 1050 ti with a consumption of 75W more or less can be endured by a source of 180W, i want to update my PC for reasons of errors with the integrated graphics of the processor, but I do not know how they do to put such powerful graphics in something that gives me the thorn that the minimum that you exceed with the Watts explodes. Anyway, what graphics card do you recommend that I hold the 180W or 240W source.
@@Carlos-ck3dr hi, I did not try the 1050ti. I guess that this card is too much for the original PSU. Actually, I am comfortable with the setup I wrote above and still using the 180W original PSU. Fun Facts: Dell Optiplex 5050 Shouldn't deserve the upgrade for gaming because it already has a good graphics card called AMD Radeon R7 450 and 16GB of ram. But The Problem is the pc is hella loud when it turns on

Hi! Been watching a ton of your channel and it has been extremely helpful for me, so thanks. I also have a question though. I just picked up an Optiplex 5070 and want to upgrade the power supply, probably to a 650w. Is the proprietary 6 pin power plug on the 5070 the same as the 5050? Just want to make sure that I get the correct 24 pin to 6 pin adaptor, not trying to fry anything. Again, thanks for all the content!
Hi, thanks, yes both models use 6pin and 4 pin connector power supply. Adapter i did check that sells online does not show it supports 5070 model www.ebay.com/itm/403404295108
@@Mxkdt hmmm I can't find any that explicitly say they support the 5070 either. I just compared the q270 chipset (5050) to the q370 chipset (5070) and the only difference between them is the ram speed and usb version (and that the q370 supports 8th and 9th gen Intel core). The TDP for both is 6W. This should mean that the adapter for the 5050 will work fine on the 5070 correct? Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it. This is my first pc build/mod so I just really want to make sure im doing things right. Cheers!
Can't find a 240 watt psu for this model will any other sff model psu fit in this case like a 3040 3050 since they look identical in size? Please respond
Well, considering there ARE 2 TB SSDs out there (trust me, I think the Crucial MX300 version is probably the best bang for the buck when it comes to those), there you wouldn't be sacrificing speed NOR capacity...
Sure you can. I run 3 drives in 5050sff. One in m.2 nvme slot for system, and two 2,5inch drives in Sata. The board has 3 sata connectors so no problem. There are multiple brackets for sata drives, I use original bracket for 2x 2,5inch drives.
hello friend. I want to buy optiplex 5050 sff for multimedia box. Can you tell me if it support low wattage T procesors like 6600t,7500t? On paper those cpu officialy are not supported. Is the pciex 4x slot precut on the end to add dualslot gpu? Thanks for the video.
I think Now the best gpu for 5050sff is new Radeon rx6400 4GB low profile single slot. You can put it into the right pcie 3.0x16 slot. The short slot is only pcie 2.0x4 so any gpu you put there is degrading its performance.
@BethAlpaca hi hey yes I've been using the 1650 super, I had to leave the side plate off but it's been great for 1440p gaming. I will note I have the SFF 5040 and my system is very well optimized!
Don't know if you'll thus comment but, I'm thinking of getting a optiplex 790 or 3020 and put a Gtx 1050 on it and I want to know if I'll need to upgrade the power supply or not
On the 3020 MT you will need an adapter as the motherboard doesn't have a 24PIN motherboard header. The Optiplex 790 has a normal PSU though. You won't need to upgrade the PSU.
Yes and its the best for running system on it. Personally I use 512GB samsung evo 970 nvme drive there and it is fantastic. Real 3500mb/s speed there which is 6 times faster than SSD via Sata

Hi, i have a HP ProDesk 600 G3 and it have a pci x16 and x4, but the x4 is closed, i mean, the connector is not open to insert the large pci video connector, can i cut to open the x4?
Is that blue 2.5" SSD holding thingy included when buying this Optiplex? Or do you have to get that separately?
some do, others dont. most dont though, as most of these optiplexes come with mechanical hdds but some come with ssds
Hi can i add gpu gtx 1070 or 1080 mini to dell 7050 disstop has a problem where power supply 240w can i upgrade please help is there any spare parts available in amazon
Fun Facts: Dell Optiplex 5050 Shouldn't deserve the upgrade for gaming because it already has a good graphics card called AMD Radeon R7 450 and 16GB of ram. But The Problem is the pc is hella loud when it turns on

Hi, yes you can upgrade CPU..
is a gtx 1050 okay with 240W psu?
what is the upgraded parts? can you list it down pls love your video
Cheers!
did you updgrade the PSU as well?
Is it okay to just add a graphics card and not change anything else?

For the 5050 can you just remove the heat sink to get to the cpu?
yes
The 180 watts psu is capable for a 1030 gt low profile? I'm planning to add a gpu to my 5050 but hesitant due to the 180 power supply.
Hi, yes 180w power supply will work fine with gt 1030.
Any update on your upgrade?
Well, considering there ARE 2 TB SSDs out there (trust me, I think the Crucial MX300 version is probably the best bang for the buck when it comes to those), there you wouldn't be sacrificing speed NOR capacity...

if my optiplex 5050 already has an SSD inside can I fit an extra HDD anywhere in the tower, or maybe swap placements in the brackets?
mine doesn't have any room for an additional HDD
Sure you can. I run 3 drives in 5050sff. One in m.2 nvme slot for system, and two 2,5inch drives in Sata. The board has 3 sata connectors so no problem. There are multiple brackets for sata drives, I use original bracket for 2x 2,5inch drives.
how to give power to the gpu
Erm mxkdi can u make a video on Ho Compaq 6000 sff for gpu
How much does will this run

hello friend.
Are there any cards that will work in the x16 port in this tower?
@BethAlpaca hi hey yes I've been using the 1650 super, I had to leave the side plate off but it's been great for 1440p gaming. I will note I have the SFF 5040 and my system is very well optimized!

Hey everyone, anyone know what would work for a 5040?
Don't know if you'll thus comment but, I'm thinking of getting a optiplex 790 or 3020 and put a Gtx 1050 on it and I want to know if I'll need to upgrade the power supply or not
On the 3020 MT you will need an adapter as the motherboard doesn't have a 24PIN motherboard header. The Optiplex 790 has a normal PSU though. You won't need to upgrade the PSU.
I upgraded a 3020 with a 1050ti, you do not need to upgrade the PSU, the standard 290W is enough.
ye
thank you
Tom Kawasa No you don't. I recently got a 7010 and a 790 for my brothers and put 1050s in both. They run flawlessly with the stock power supplys.
It does contain NVMe slot ? Thanks
Yes and its the best for running system on it. Personally I use 512GB samsung evo 970 nvme drive there and it is fantastic. Real 3500mb/s speed there which is 6 times faster than SSD via Sata
So, i have the 3010 SFF. Any way i could slap a bigger cpu cooler on it?
TheMadMaxTv i’m affraid you can’t since the hdd caddy/bracket is in the way. A little one maybe?
I have the MT could I have a cpu cooler
Maybe you could put a little 8cm 4pin fan at heatsink. You should try.
Really gtx 1050 can fit?
if it's a low profile version yes if it's a regular version probably not
Do you know the max cpu for this modeling?
Max cpu for 5050 is i7-7700
can we connect hdd and ssd together
Hi, yes you can use one 3.5inch HDD and one M.2 2280 SSD..
You can even run 3 drives there. M.2 nvme and 2x 2,5inch in bracket for this instead of one 3,5. Board has 3 sata connector so 2x SSD and 1x DVD
