I'm surprised the events of "Daleks in Manhattan" and "Evolution of the Daleks" aren't on there. How many people did the Daleks abduct for their 'final experiment'? How many were turned into pig slaves? How many killed just for getting in the way?
Probably a few thousand, which is small fry for the Daleks. Plus there's the factor of Dalek Sec at least trying to move past the whole Dalek purity supremacy thing.
@@Bellezzasolo I get your point, but it was also the creation of a whole new species and a genocide of that species. Genocide is often a topic that draws the Doctor's ire - he even says it to Dalek Caan - "I've just seen one genocide. I won't cause another." The events of that two-part story are so significant that the Doctor was willing to work with the Daleks _TWICE_ - once with Dalek Sec to create the more human hybrids, and then again at the end with Dalek Caan to avoid any more bloodshed.
That's what I was thinking. It wasn't some world wide plot or anything but like it was fucked up

The Season 1 two-part finale was pretty devastating. The Daleks randomly picked out probably millions of humans to face an inevitable death in a well known TV game show which was then watched by everyone on planet Earth. They also subjected the Controller to years of torture and killed her once she told the Doctor about the Daleks. Basically everybody on The Game Station died during their attack and possibly thousands more if they had managed to reach the Earth. They basically caused the 9th Doctor's regeneration because Rose needed to come back, help and save him. But overall the Daleks are definitely the evilest thing in the Whoniverse.
And the most atrocity of that 2 part finale is using people's bodies, converting them to create more Daleks, as the Emperor explained. Basically most of the new Daleks were dead people. This happened way before Oswin.
BIG down for not including "Remembrance of the Daleks." They stuck a little girl inside their battle computer.
They really are scary critters.
I get they believe in purity, but you’d think they change their design due to how limiting it is. The proposed spider leg design from the 1996 movie’s follow up could make them more lethal.
Doesn't the "purity" thing only refer to the gooey little alien inside the metal suit? I agree with you, I think a new style of Dalek would be awesome to see
Having been a young Californian living in England in the 60's I developed an early appreciation of The Doctor and the Daleks, and when I returned to the U.S. I remember trying to explain how awesome they and the Doctor were, and it wasn't till the early 70's that Jon Pertwee first appeared as The Doctor on U.S. television, (which is why I suspect he, and not my "first Doctor" is my favorite (apologies to William Hartnell and Peter Cushing, both of whom I'm a big fan of, but...) and I was able to share an appreciation of the Who-verse.
As always thank you so very much for the video.
To me the worst (maybe - biggest impression certainly) are the Daleks of "Doctor Who and the Daleks" (1965) and "Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D." (1966). Perhaps because those were the first Doctor Who episodes that I could pull up on video. (I was fortunate to have a father who worked at the company that created VHS - Ampex.)
Turning humans into half pig monsters should be up there. As well as Dalek Karn slaughtering all the human/dalek hybrids. *

The Daleks invaded Earth in the 22nd century twice in stories shown on TV. Day of the Daleks was their second, more successful, attempt, from which they launched their attack on the 20th century.
I'm surprised The Apocalypse Element didn't get a mention- where the Daleks crippled and stole the time travel technology of multiple races, invade gallifrey, and succeed in detonating the entire Seriphia galaxy filled with inhabited worlds in order to invade it once the planets reformed
Even if the daleks used the reality bomb wouldn't have worked cos I'm betting marvel , dc and several others would've survived and then the heroes and villains would come over and destroy them

Well that's quite wrong, the Dalek Emperor proclaimed himself to be the god of all Daleks and they worshipped him. Isn't a god something like a creator? I'm not religious, but that's, what I always thought, that God created the universe, Earth, heaven and whatnot. So the Dalek Emperor being worshipped as god (creator) goes directly against the hierarchy thing, as you said.

I’ve often believed the Daleks are at the best in Big Finish. So glad Ellie from WhoCulture listed a few of them!
The Dale's invaded Earth 3 times. The second time was mentioned in Day of The Daleks. Granted it was ultimately undone. However it's still cannon.
One I'd mention was the development and usage of temporal weapons in Engines of War. These weapons didn't just kill people but wiped them out from history. Anyway, this is probably my favourite Who Culture video yet as it accounts for expanded media as much as onscreen material.
You should cover the river big finish eps they're actually really good

Next you should do top 10 torchwood episodes even the Sarah Jane adventures. And the daleks appeared in the audio stories.

I have a theory what if when Clara is turned into a Dalek what if that is after she spent time and travelled with the 12 doctor because we know she survived after dying for reasons I’ve already forgotten but so what if after that she finds her way into the Dalek asylum and then goes through the horrific conversion or however you pronounce it so then she becomes a Dalek

is big finish considered canon?
In Doctor Who everything is equally canon as there's no high ruler of the BBC putting out an official list of what's canon and what's not. Also, Big Finish companions are mentioned onscreen in Night of the Doctor.
@@jellybabiesarecool4657 Well the Night of the Doctor is the only instance, where parts of Big Finish are ever mentioned, or shown. And NotD is canon, so ... not really sure. Big Finish often contradicts the tv show in some ways, some more, some less. But honestly even the show itself sometimes contradicts with itself. So yea. Hard to say. I personally consider it non canon, but still amazing stories. I'm fine with it that way. Because what isn't specifically mentioned or shown on the big (smaller) screen, didn't really hapen in the prime reality. Kinda like Turn Left, where you see the events of several episodes back but without the Doctor. Alternate realities. So Big Finish is that. Awesome adventures of the various Doctor's regenerations, companions and friends, but not entirely canon in the TV show. But that's my view, If you consider Big Finish canon, that's your thing. Be true to yourself, don't let anyone to decide for you.

I can’t take what happened to Oswin that seriously since she technically never existed since she’s a splinter of Clara
She's still a version of Clara, that was inserted in the time stream and became "real", the Doctor, even Rory and Amy interacted with her all the time. Before the change that Clara entering the Doctor's life/time stream brought, there probably was someone taken and converted into a Dalek, who Clara took over as Oswin. Otherwise what would be the purpose of Oswin being a Dalek? Clara's splinter could manifest as another simple Clara copy of that time period, like the one on Gallifrey, or those chasing the other Doctor's regenerations. So that terrible Dalek conversion still happened, eventhough it may not be originally Clara's conversion.
@@Croftice1 I always looked at the Clara splinters as only existing in that moment for as long as she needs to be in that area. At least going by how it played out for her in asylum of the daleks. And I could see it as she takes the place of someone else in that moment. And maybe even have the Clara that was the companion be a splinter too with her role being saving him from grief, and Clara would stay dead thanks to that damn bird, and she wouldn’t be able to say “she’s entitled to her past”. But then again series 9 was kinda all over the place. But Clara should’ve never been given a Tardis.
